On windows there's a gray backing an on most Macs I've used it's turned off by default and the windows just float over the desktop and it looks like a mess
We have macs in our school. Is there any particular reason why photoshop looks entirely botchered on mac?
Like, it's made out of floating windows and you can see other stuff behind it and jesus fuck who designed that mess.

Luckily I get to use my own Win8 Laptop there. And my desktop.
I'm pretty sure there is a setting to make it look exactly like the Windows version without the subwindows being able to float around.
PS looked like this by default on my mac

On Windows, I can make Photoshop look like a complete mess like it can be on Mac.

i always enable application frame on macs, it looks so fucking stupid without it.
I'll see what I can do with it, thanks for the information!
I know it's a default setting, but still I have no idea why that's the default preset
It's a complete mess on Mac without using Application Frame and I've yet to master multi-window/application usage on Macs...
i'm not sure why it's such a big deal

adobe make a lot worse decisions than that

Like? :v:
putting font preivew in illustrator but not photoshop
[editline]22nd February 2014[/editline]
making photoshops sharpening (out of acr) better than lightrooms
My 7D lives! :v: The popup flash won't popup though.
If there's one thing I'd manage without on a camera, it's the popup flash.
If there's one thing I'd manage without on a camera, it's the popup flash.
I rarely use that thing anyways
best use for a pop up flash is triggering another flash in optical slave mode but then again you have to avoid spill over from the poppy uppy one
the lack of a flash on a 6d reminds me of just how pro i am

Yeah just tape the 6D logo and you can easily pass it off as a 5Dmk3

Put a Leica red dot logo over it.
i'm gonna vouch for this one

just an independent decision i've made
I'm conflicted because I'm using both operating systems and I want to choose one and one only for all of my needs. As I mentioned earlier, if I get into that Creative Photograhy program at that college that requires me to have a specific camera and macbook, it means my first laptop will be a macbook pro of some sort. I would be using macs a lot more for the next 3 years in college and probably come out still using macs from there on.
Although I've only used Macs extensively in high school, never at home because I never got the chance. Almost everyone has a Windows 7 or 8 laptop.

considering taping up my 6d cos i did it with my 600D purely because the kiss x5 logo looked like shit
the lack of a flash on a 6d reminds me of just how pro i am
pro-rating is measued in lack of pop up flashes
i score a -4 :(

That's some russian type-style bullshit right there.

hardly - means everyone has the same platform. the course i have a module on has 1 nikon user when the faculty is almost completly canon
In our school it there's no rules on computers or cameras, and I see no reason for there to be any.
I mean, both Mac and PC have photoshop and bridge, and they work the same way.
And all cameras have the same basic functions. Heck, one student one year apparently only used a homemade pinhole camera!
Having dumb restrictions on equipment like that serves no real purpose. That school really should widen its views.
how can you ensure university/college equipment works consistently across all brands? if you have a whole canon faculty, you can (for example) buy a wide variety of lenses for that mount but if you have to cater for canon, nikon then you have less variety and it costs more. what happens if a sony user comes along? they can't participate and have to shell out for their own stuff.

What are you talking about?
People bring their own gear, simple as that.
my uni is canon/pentax/mamiya/mac only but doesn't care what equipment you use tbh - they just offer what they offer, take it or leave it

are you on a photography course?
[editline]23rd February 2014[/editline]
flash heads - if you have a sony you can't use the uni ones so you need to hire out a canon dslr from them
[editline]23rd February 2014[/editline]
lenses - let's say you don't own a complete kit and fancy an 85mm 1.8 - you have to buy it, you can't just borrow one
[editline]23rd February 2014[/editline]
on camera flash unit - better hope you got a canon, or you have to buy your own speedlite
At my uni it was just bring your own stuff, their rental equipment was shit anyway.
