i knew i should have bought that 67 with a rollback when i saw it for around $350.
considering spending all my money on a 6x6 camera and selling it at the end of summer.
I'm looking to get a second-hand dSLR and I'm looking for some input. Initially I want to stick with either a kit, or a prime 35mm lens (crop sensor), but later on I want to get some telephoto and macro lenses to get into nature (notably birds) photography, so I want some good AF and reasonable burst (I think 4-5 FPS would suffice). Right now I'm favoring Nikon, because my buddy owns a Nikon D5100, so it gives me possibility to borrow lenses, and I find the layout much more comfortable than that of a Canon DSLR With my budget, I'm able to get a used D90, or a new D3100. I prefer the D90 just for the fact it has a focus motor, which broadens my lens choice, but the higher ISO capabilities of the D3100 are also something that seems a bit important. Then again, I could also get a used Canon 40D. Seems superior to both of the above, notably the cross-type AF points which would help a lot when photographing birds in motion, and faster burst. I suppose I'll stick to the D90, but I want to ask something. How does it work when upgrading to full-frame? I know Canons got EF-S lenses for crop sensors, which don't work on full frames. How does this part look on Nikon bodies?
the boat anchor has arrived
just dont reach into the film cavity when the shutter is cocked, you never know with those old cameras and losing your trigger finger can be a pretty big disadvantage when taking photos
just dont reach into the film cavity when the shutter is cocked, you never know with those old cameras and losing your trigger finger can be a pretty big disadvantage when taking photos
the mirror slap could probably decapitate a small child
I've had reports of people hearing the mirror slap three or four blocks away.
What have you guys heard of the Sigma DP series? Specifically looking at a DP2x or DP2 Merrill. From what I can see the colour reproduction is very reminiscant of film, would be a killer option for me for when I can't be arsed lugging the 67 around (as FlippR puts it - a boat anchor). Am I getting too hyped? Seen some reviews and don't care about the funny AF noise or clunky feel, just looking at pure image quality and especially colour in daylight. Cheers.

But bottom line at 100-400 ISO they fucking kill, reds are weaker though, and you can't do vibrancy too much
Got in touch with a DP1 and DP2 user, he gave me a RAW to try editing to see how I like the performance. He says is absolutely shines in daylight, but is the polar opposite in low light. Still conflicted about this, will definitely sleep on it.
I had a DP1s and sold it because it was just a too much of a pain to use. The DPm is still pretty slow I heard. But yeah the image quality is just amazing. I gape every time someone posts full resolution pics from it. I would love something like this. A sigma DPm with a Leica M mount. Is that a fucking wood grip on a camera Unbelievably sexy
Wooden grips look damn amazing! I want it :(
A friends 17-85mm f/4-5.6 EF-S is stuck at f/22, the aperture cable broke or something. There's a bunch of replacements that are around $5 but seem to be very sketchy. Taking it apart is already hard enough.

Is there something I'm not getting here? What's the point of having multiple bodies for the same lens mount?
Is there something I'm not getting here? What's the point of having multiple bodies for the same lens mount?
See which one is the best
Is there something I'm not getting here? Found an auction for the three bodies being sold all together from a camera shop in New York. Was going cheap and not getting much attention so I decided to bid. Managed to win all three for cheaper than most K1000's were selling for, including shipping to the UK. Also, the Spotmatic has a screw mount which I have no lenses for :(

Got a new Sony NEX-5 with 18-55 and prime 16 for $300. I'm stoked.
Wondering, would anyone who is UK based be interesting in buying a used Nikon D7000 body + Nikon 35 AF-S 1.8G + Nikon 12-24 AF-S 10-24 f3.5-4.5G? Bought body brand new mid 2011, used a fair bit and it shows a tad, lenses are about a year old and not used often. Thinking on selling my digital stuff, and keep my film equipment. Let me know, I wouldn't be selling for at least a month.
Would you be willing to sell the 35mm 1.8 on its own by any chance?
I would do. Bundling it all together is tempting for me because it means less hassle, but of course its quite a specific set of gear that it could turn a lot of people off. I have some boxes here and the rest at home in Ireland, so that's where the delay comes from. I'm almost certain the 35 box is at home, but good to see interest on your part!
I'd buy that body from you as soon as you wanted if I lived in the UK, but I don't. I love worn magnesium bodies.
I was bored, dug my C3 out, and finished restoring it today. Dat brick...
Not sure if this goes here in this thread, but I'll try anyway. I'm looking to get into photography to follow after my father. I've always really enjoyed taking pictures and capturing scenes and nature and stuff like that. But my camera on my Galaxy S3 isn't cutting it anymore so I decided to get something a bit better. My dad pointed me in the direction of a Nikon D40, or D60 used. I'm looking to spend less than $200 on the body but I've seen some D40's around with the 18-55mm lens that it came with in the kit for around $150-$175. I just need a camera for general use. I don't really have any specifics as to what I want to do with it but I want something that looks very true to what I see if you catch my drift, though, I'm assuming that's something that most DSLRs would do. I'd like something that does well in low light because my house and my yard have poor natural lighting due to lots of trees. Do you think finding something like the D40 used would be good for me?
