does anyone have a rebel sl1? i was looking to sell my t1i to get one and was curious if it is worth the hassle
I don't know much about the SL1 or the T1i but it would seem like you'd be downgrading.
Someone else I'm sure knows more. But I really feel you should save your money for new glass instead.
i just know it uses stm lenses and shoots 1080p at usable frame rates while my t1i does none of that
Yours can use STM lenses (just not during video where the SL1 is meh anyway). It would only be better in being a little bit more compact and then having 1080p. Not at all a worthwhile upgrade
well then what would be a better dslr for shooting video around the that price range? (the t1i also doesnt have a mic input, which is a pain in the arse)

I use a Panasonic G6 and it has a mic input, and a level monitor on screen. I use it for professional work as well as for fun, it's mirror-less so it's small. Great cinematic quality at 24p or you can do 1080p 60 FPS.
Gonna sell mine to get a GH4 as I mentioned earlier though :)
If you want to stick with Canon I would say the t3i or t4i. Newer models aren't really any better and you can get those ones for cheaper.
i got a buddy in a photo class and he wants a really really cheap dslr, under 150. I told him to go for a rebel or a old nikon (because i have a couple of old lenses) was i right to do so?
yeah

unless the body you want has come up literally just now, I don't see a point in buying them new when you can get great used ones for a bunch cheaper
save your money and get a used 5D2 or a 7D or some other decent not rebel dslr to make it a really worthwhile upgrade
imo
not as your first dslr though

its not an upgrade
he just needs a digtal camera for a class, his other camera is a pentax p30
i'm talking about the guy selling his rebel sl1

Oops sorry :v:
Sony FS700 just got blown the fuck out

it's also around 3 grand cheaper
now i just need to find 6k worth of pocket change...
oh its the BlackMagic Design URSA
What is it, you didn't say.
I reverse image searched it and it got nothing.

Nevermind.
Wow that's a crazy device. Black magic makes insane hardware but I've heard some negative things about actual usability of their stuff. Either way it's cutting edge, the 10 inch monitor and sensor swapping are wild
holy shit that thing looks futuristic as fuck
the production camera is now 4K for £2000 which is insane, plus that URSA is an incredible camera for under £4000
no slowmo tho
A dealbreaker for a load of film people that I know
shouldn't a sensor swap fix that?

Dude I want one of them
Feeling to buy the 70-200 2.8 II, I need it for a few festivals I'm booked for this year + the future
Justified purchase or GAS?

rly cool interview with that dude, not so much the listicle itself but what rich kalvar actually talks about and his personal experiences

Well you actually get paid for stuff so if it's a need it's definitely justified. A very great lens, class leading even. One of my photo friends just purchased one for weddings and stuff and he gets a ton of use out of it. Not sure how much better it is than the new Tamron 70-200mm f2.8, probably worth looking into.
only thing that held me back from the 35mm Samyang is the obnoxious size, it's bigger than my zoom lenses even. The 24mm 1.4 is slightly smaller (like a few cm), but is closer to the nikon and canon 24mm's.
my LCD on my camera just got a visible scratch out of nowhere. I should probably get a screen protector for this thing.
i've had scratches before, they hardly affect usability. there's one on my rx100 right now, i forget about it in like 99% of situations (and that camera only has an LCD)
My D90 came with a clip-on screen protector, I think all Nikons do, I really appreciated that when it came to selling it. Best screen protector ever too, didn't affect the image at all.

afaik the newer nikons dont. I think the D3/D7000/D700 was the last "generation" they did it with, kinda lame imo but they claim to use "more scratch resistant" screens but a protector never hurts
