sold my 600D for £200, impulsive decision
i'm talking about the guy selling his rebel sl1
its a t1i/500d and i was looking to buy an sl1 or something similar the t1i has no mic input and thats what i need, sony's dslrs shoot p good video and have nice autofocus, i have used an a55 and i could use all my minolta af lenses i have [editline]10th April 2014[/editline] (i could be wrong i dont know anything)
if you buy a DSLR for video and expect good AF (like dedicated camcorder AF) then you up for a major letdown
i know?? im more worried about a mic input, im just gonna buy a t3i body (still gonna use it for photography)
if you buy a DSLR for video and expect good AF (like dedicated camcorder AF) then you up for a major letdown
AF on sony cameras is very good for video, the mirror is translucent so PDAF is active during video mode.
but a mic input is useless because you still have auto gain and you'll just get noisy shitty audio. buy a zoom h4n or something if you want decent audio and sync in post
Hey look at lomography just anounced: http://microsites.lomography.com/russar-lens/ And it's not ridiciously overpriced as well IMHO.
For the film guys, http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/ele/4415792127.html Finally found a v500 for cheap and just wondering what I should look out for if I decide to check it out?

You'll want to check if they're including the film guides/holders, though. Can't really scan film without them, though I think they're available for separate purchase on some websites.

You could use any 20mm lens and get indistinguishable results. Use your 18-55mm and get a stop more light at f/3.5, with the added bonus of zoom and image stabilization, you might even get ~cool and quirky~ ~lomo~ effects like barrel distortion, vignette and soft edges.

But for fullframe/film it's a very nice option. [editline]10th April 2014[/editline] Also please look further than the lomography name. This lens existed before then too and it's optical performance is quite decent actually.
That's actually really cool. At $650 it sounds a little steep, but it's hardly any more expensive than used models of the lens. Would make a very cool rangefinder lens, hopefully it comes with an external finder as well though. I'd like lomo to push more Russian optics, hopefully it helps them grow and offer more quality things
Just found this. it's one of my dads several old cameras(+ some different brownies, a destroyed minolta and some olympus stuff). I really wanna try it, but 120mm film is a pain in the ass to find. My dad just bought a Canon 70D so most of it will just collect dust in a shelf.
is that an ikonta? they're sick, super compact for the quality of photos they can spit out
It's an Belca/Welta Belfoca II. It's supposedly pretty rare.
I really wanna try it, but 120mm film is a pain in the ass to find.
it's all over the internet [editline]10th April 2014[/editline] go on amazon
Anyone know if the epson perfection 3590 is good compared to the v500? The seller of the v500 wont reply anymore after i said i couldn't pick it up today. But i found the 3590 for 20 dollars without a power cord.
V500 does medium format, that Perfection 3590 doesnt do anything larger than 35mm. The succesor to the 3590 was the Epson V300. So basicly a level lower than the V500. I wouldn't expect much imho.
Power cords are a tough find, it took me like 6 months to track one down for my v500

Hm i read about the nikon d5300, pretty cheap here in Japan compared to home. Is it worth it, upgrading from a d3100?
if I were you and upgrading from a d3100 id go for something higher tier like a D7000/7100 or something
i sold my t1i for three hunned im gonna buy a used 60d excite
I'm playing with a second roll of film in a Brownie I bought a few weeks back. Kodak's instructions to hold your breath while taking photos is the only way I can get shots that don't have shake blur. It is however working with plastic spools but they bind a bit on the holder.
if I were you and upgrading from a d3100 id go for something higher tier like a D7000/7100 or something
That's a lot of money though, I don't use it that much.
Still trying to deyellow my thorium lens, I haven't found a very good solution. I've left it on a windowsill (apparently UV light is lost in the windows), used the Ikea lamp that was highly recommended, and now I just bought a reptile UVA/UVB lamp and have left it on a few days but its still yellow. It really is annoying though, it's like slightly yellow enough to not be useable for color film. Might just sell it at this point, I'm kind of annoyed that I haven't been able to fix it much. I was going to wait and see if it was better than my contax 35mm f2 on an a7, but that dream seems to get farther and farther into the future :/ Might give this guide a whirl http://web.aanet.com.au/bayling/repair.html
i took that picture on my way home this friday. i spend every little dime that i had to my name, but i'm super stoked that i did. i borrowed a 85 1.8 and a 50 1.8 so i've got a little to play around with, until i can afford a proper lens on my own.
i just found two other ef lenses i didn't really know i had, it's a 50mm 2.5 macro lens and a 35-135mm 5.6 i also have 2x 430ez speedlites so i think my canon setup is already rather diverse
I will conquer the thorium!!!!
