what makes a camera real
sometimes i blink my eyes in an exaggerated manner to save a picture in my mind
I'd be scared of bending with the mount slightly, I don't know if the mount would snap off the lens before the camera lens mount broke though. But holy shit, that speed down Bealach na Ba, that's nuts. People cycle that all the time.
it's not that scary
[editline]20th April 2014[/editline] Cueball, did you get any air when you went over that bridge? What if you got thrown out of the back :'(
I bashed my head about 50 fucking times
[editline]20th April 2014[/editline] Did you die???
twice
[editline]20th April 2014[/editline] It means 60 is the upper limit, it doesn't mean you should do 60 all the time. "The speed limit is the absolute maximum and it doesn’t mean it’s safe to drive at this speed in all conditions.". Heh.
yes i was implying we were going above 60
Trying to decide what to bring to London camera equipment-wise is so difficult. I rotate all my equipment frequently so it's difficult to just pick a few things. Might try and get a green label G1 (so I can use a 35mm and 45mm), grab my a77 with 16-50mm and 24mm 1.4 (Maxxum 7000 as my film backup), my nex just for portability and use of the contax lenses, and then RX100 for general snaps. But then my FD system has the most lenses, so I'm tripping up there because I would want a 20mm, 35mm, and 55mm. BUT I don't want to leave my Contax at home!! Too much equip not enough a7
bring ur contax and your rx100
My GF is coming too, and I think she'll be using the RX more than I would. The a77 and 16-50 are my most used equipment so they are mandatory. The Nex is small enough to be a no brainer and will work with any film equipment I bring. The 24mm is for lowlight stuff, and at that point the Maxxum 7000 is good to bring too because they are a great combo (matched with Porta 400). The other film camera choice (ektar mostly) is mostly what's tripping me up. My Canon stuff has the most variety, but the Contax stuff is a bit smaller. The canon I'd go with 20mm, 35mm, and 55mm (the 20 would be debatable). Contax the other body would need to be gotten soon, because otherwise it's not ideal for variety. Normally I would just forego the 2nd film but it seems like a great way to fill up my photo book with memorable prints. [editline]20th April 2014[/editline] On an unrelated note there is a Somy a850 on CL for $750 wow this is so much temptation!!
Don't bring any cameras. Trust me.
Are cheap hot shoe mics ok? I might as well buy one while I'm still abroad.
yo i got a radioactive 50/1.4 how did you kill the yellow?
I used one of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00101GDIG/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?qid=1398110352&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70 Has high UVA and UVB output which gets rid of yellowing. It fits in a standard lightbulb socket and has a pretty low heat output compared to incandescent. I had my bulb in a gooseneck lamp so I could adjust the bulb to be very close to the lens. I put aluminum foil around the inside of the lamp so the light was more direct. The lens I also wrapped in aluminum foil to keep the heat off it mostly, so the aperture didn't get oily (also will reflect light back through the lens if you leave the front cap off). The rear element remains exposed. I put the lens upside down in a box, then the lamp on the outside with the bulb a few mm away from the rear element. This made a lot of light hit it, and I left it like that for about 7 days. Keep it in a room you don't use often. Might take a few more depending on the severity, but it will work eventually. Also remember to wear sunglasses if working on the combo at night, the light can be bad for your eyes (but not during the day as much because your iris is more closed).

andy you look so content, like you're staring at your child or something
I am now with a t3i, I can't wait to go into boston and start taking photos :D
So on a Facebook group I've recently joined they were doing some thing with stacking their camera's on a empty film box so I've decided to join the fad. Here's the result: DSC03832.jpg by Leevmeister, on Flickr
I'm part of the same group
I'm trying to make an inital offer for a 28mm f/2.8 zuiko but I don't want to start too high but also not to low and seem like a cheapskate. I was thinking 30 euro as a start since I haven't inspected the lens physical but it seems in near mint state from the images. What's your take vintage enthusiasts??
don't submit an offer unless you're embarrassed by it [editline]22nd April 2014[/editline] same for when you're asking for be paid

I threw away all my film boxes. I only buy poundlound film anyway. [editline]22nd April 2014[/editline] Also while I'm here; SLR on a budget? Was originally looking at Olympus' Zuiko 50mm for use on my EOS 500 body when I realised I could get an OM10 with a zuiko for around the same price as a zuiko on it's own... Which got me thinking, are there any competitors to the OM10 that would be lesser known/cheaper and effectively do the same shit? What's the canon equivalent? The AE series?
Yeah the Canon A series is about the equivalent, with the A1 being my recommendation because of aperture and shutter priority modes (the AE-1P doesn't have A priority). I think Canon's manual focus film bodies are the best balance of price and performance, the lenses are a lot cheaper because they can't adapt to DSLR's (only mirrorless cameras).

The FD mount can't be used on DSLRs? Does that mean they wouldn't work on my EOS 500 body? Though I imagine it would gather even more dust if I got an A1 or similar, regardless as to whether it can take any lenses I get for it.
