you will need lights. budget for it.
stop with the lights. I already have a set.
that price would get pretty high with a decent lens im guessing
1700 USD for body
around 3000 USD with the added digital thingy that gives XLR inputs, 3 screen HDMI out, and higher bitrate.

I think the Sony A7s might be a decent cam to look for as well (not available yet, but will be pretty soon). It's got zebra's for highlight and shadow clipping, 1080p at 60fps (as well as 30 and 24), can use a huge range of lenses without additional crop, 4k supported with external recorder, XAVC-S codec, and the sensor is made specifically for video recording. Certainly a worthy option of looking into, you can save big on lenses by getting older manual focus primes like the Canon FD series.
The GH4 is a great option as well, but would be a little worse for lowlight due to the smaller sensor, and the 2x crop makes shooting with older film lenses not as easy for wide angle stuff.

but you told me you need a camera that performs well in low light?

I would have expected something classier looking from Leica.
I think it just looks like what Apple would've made if they made a system camera. With according pricetag.
So on a Facebook group I've recently joined they were doing some thing with stacking their camera's on a empty film box so I've decided to join the fad.
Here's the result:

Help me. I'm becoming more hipster by the day.
I can use a Canpous ADVC-100 to digitize but right now I'm crossing my fingers that the battery is still good. NP cells are expensive.

we took the EOS M and said "Panasonic, we want you to make this for us but make it look like Samsung. Also please write Leica on it and use the Leica prices"
"We think our customers will be excited to get lenses designed by Panasonic and sold at with classic Leica names on them. No other system right now has an 18-56mm lens, and the 23mm f2 will be the perfect lens for all photography"

Well it is actually made by Leica. Out of a solid block of aluminium and then it's polished for 45 minutes by hand!!!!!
They even made a video

Lenses are designed by Leica but manufactured in Japan. Leica won't tell by who but they did say that it's not Panasonic.

definitely the electronic design is Panasonic assisted though, and the lenses look to be Panasonic manufactured as well (though this doesn't mean much because they are still leica optics and standards, similar to Sony Zeiss).
but yeah compare this (Leica)

i was actually just about to post that now that we're approaching the envelope of digital its nice to see manufactures focus on polishing up their stuffs more so they last forever not just by being reliable but by having the features you need for ever for a reasonable price rather than just adding new features for gimmicks

Who the hell buys a Leica
Me
Who the hell buys a Leica
There's a difference between buying a Leica M and that new Leica T IMHO.
i don't know how anyone could justify it
i saw a guy in central park a couple weeks ago with a billingham bag and an m type 240 with some expensive lens (not the 50 0.95) and he clearly had no idea what he was doing when he went to actually take a picture
Bought a 6D and a 50mm 1.4 yesterday woot
I'm going to be the last to FF ;(
Also you can get a chipped Pentax to EOS adapter I think, so you could use your Pentax lenses if you haven't sold them already. Would be good for the 85mm Samyang, as you could get focus confirmation
I think you would need to modify the aperture lever on some lenses to make the clearance, but the Samyang doesn't have one so it should work fine
The thing which put me off the A7 is there's not a very good autofocus lens selection and once you stick a lens with the adapter on it it's no longer compact.
Not a cheap AF lens selection, but the lenses put out so far are pretty good. There are supposed to be 14 total for the system by the end of the year, and Zeiss (not Sony Zeiss, but Cosina Zeiss) are supposed to release a few manual focus lenses specifically for the cameras. Sony is definitely pushing it as a high end system. The compatibility with A mount lenses from adapters is pretty nice too, when looking at it from a modular concept.
My main interest is just the adapting lenses, I've never really had a problem with the extra size of the lenses. My most used lens on the Nex 5 is a 55mm f1.2, and the combination is quite massive and awkward looking. Handles surprisingly well though. If I want smaller lenses, there are some pretty decent options out there (with a Contax G autofocus adapter you can have small and AF)
Still got the LAEA-4 and 70-210 f4 beercan, 85mm f1.8 (both A-Mount). Perfect for a Sony A7 lover.
am I doing this film box thing right

I could go FF technically, but I'd have to sell my a77 and 16-50 which means I would need to get an a99. The a77 is my main working camera. I have a Tokina 28-70mm f2.8 which is pretty decent, but it's just not nearly as good and I'd want the CZ 24-70 but that would be far out of the question
So I just kind of have what I have and dream big about cameras I don't need and wouldn't help me get any more money or paid work
On the topic of FF, my 5D2 is up for $1000... :)

can vouch for this guy, he's been around the forum a while and posts fairly regularly

have you sold all the lenses?
also, what are you planning to shoot with instead of your 5d ii?
