Adam Senatori posted a kinda interesting blog update about moving to MFD. Gutted for him if these new MFD cameras materialise.
If I won the lottery I would get an Alpa and mount a phase one 80mp back on it. That small size compared with the crazy resolution is amazing. Also those Rodenstock and Schneider lenses. Why did Alpa die out, they were such crazy optical wizards
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have a bridge camera atm with 30x optical zoom. I like that amount of zoom,so what kind of lens would have similar amounts of zoom?
depends on what system you're getting it for, that would be really expensive on any system without a small compact camera sensor
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have a bridge camera atm with 30x optical zoom. you can get like telescope lenses or mount your camera to a monocular if you really want but they're designed to be looked through, your photos will be soft and bent

Heyya guys Im starting my Media Production course in college in october after finishing with an A in Media as a GCSE. My course includes Photography and such so im looking into getting a good entry level camera. I have been looking at the Nikon 3200/3300 series, Anyone want to clarify or maybe recommend something else?

consider if you'll be doing video and take a look at the canons in that case. as always, go to a shop and see what you feel comfortable using
consider if you'll be doing video and take a look at the canons in that case. as always, go to a shop and see what you feel comfortable using
looked into Canons, I was speaking to a few of my friends in my media class and they said that we have been using a Canon for our work so (about 3 years expierence I suppose) How is the EOS 700D? I heard its got better video qaulity as appose to the D3300
There are mites inside the screen on my camera what do
nikon video is hopeless at the low end, my vote is canon

I've heard good things about video on the D5200 though, should be in the same price league as the Canon. Also as a side vote I have also heard the video on the Sony a6000 is quite good.
I got a brownie Junior 616 that still has film in it. I think I got 3 exposures left, assuming nobody has opened it in the last 20+ years. No idea what i'm meant to photograph with it
lets say i bought a canon eos 6d and it hasnt shipped yet...which shotgun mic would be ok to use with it and what other requirements do i need apart from the camera itself?
Shit.. only 8GB left on my harddrive, the only place i store my pictures. Should i be worried about my hard drive failing? Any bad experiences here?
lets say i bought a canon eos 6d and it hasnt shipped yet...which shotgun mic would be ok to use with it and what other requirements do i need apart from the camera itself?
depends what you want to record but for general purpose sound something like a rode ntg-2 and a decent recorder like a zoom h4n, tascam dr-40 or whatever other xlr recorders you can afford. [editline]25th May 2014[/editline] recording sound straight into the camera is pointless unless it's a guide track for your editor i.e. running a wireless pack from your sound guy with their mixer/recorder into the camera
Shit.. only 8GB left on my harddrive, the only place i store my pictures. Should i be worried about my hard drive failing? Any bad experiences here?
Literally cannot stress enough how important it is to have at least two physical locations for your photographs. Bare minimum. Even if it's just two separate HDDs in the same machine. Shit just buy a cheap ass external HDD, write a backup to it every week and you're golden. Personally my photos exist on Dropbox and Flickr, two different HDDs in my PC and two external HDDs that I rotate so that one is kept somewhere off site (office, parents place, workshop, etc). I mean shit forget about HDD failure, what about acts of god? My parent's house got struck by lightening last winter and it took out a bunch of appliances, including the NAS that all our family photos are stored on. My dad uses a similar backup system to me so we only lost photos from a couple of day trips but shit, imagine if that was the only place we had photos stored.
HDDs fail suddenly and more often than you think.
Something I'm going to get into in the next year as I start to shoot more digital and get closer to finishing my degree but right now all my work is on film in drawers either at my flat or at my family home.
i have my photos on my macbook and on flickr and anything paid is on an encrypted external hdd at the same time [editline]26th May 2014[/editline] i have a nas but it needs upgraded. very little storage left, it's mostly just used for storing games now
I built a little mini server which syncs all my photos from my pc over to it for backup. It also means I can access my photos from my pc and from my macbook which is super useful, I used to have to copy the photos on a usb over to my mac if I wanted to edit not sitting at my desk. Also using it as a media server and general NAS type stuff, its pretty useful

I don't know much about that sort of thing, but he's sufficiently discerning (and flush) that I'm confident that safe would have been the only thing left standing if the house had burnt down. [editline]26th May 2014[/editline] Also while we're on the topic of home networked solutions, Bittorrent Sync is apparently the cats pyjamas. It's like Dropbox except your provide the box.
how is that any better than dropbox
I use bit torrent sync to sync my photos to my server. It's good for local networking sync but not really for external access as it's limited by your Internet upload speed etc It's quite slow to initially index all your raws though, indexing 65k raws took about 6 hours, on both my pc and the server, so the initial setup index and sync was like 8-10 hours
is the 10yr 250gb IDE?
E0S 700D im thinking then, Found out we have been using a Canon 1100 in media class. Cant wait for the 24th then, Thanks guys!
Can I stack a polarizer and ND filter? If so which one should go on first?
