Use a flash it's an indoor party
Oh yeah forgot to mention, I have a Yongnuo 465 ii I'll be using, taking wireless triggers for it too just incase I wanna get creative, and a tripod. Think we may do some 'photobooth-esque' shots.

Just bounce the flash and you will be set, I wouldn't bother with wireless triggers
Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM worth it? if you know a wide angle with AF better, or one with a nice wide aperture, please share. Thanks bbz
tokina 11-16 f/2.8
So use your 18-55 and a flash, it has a great zoom range for indoors. My 550D has decided to fuck up though, no liveview, viewfinder works ok, but will not take a photo! Just AF confirms and then nothing, even with MF.

Thanks bbz
Sigma also has a 10-20mm f3.5 The tokina is cool too but doesn't have infinity focus at 11mm so the light gathering ability is negated there as you have to stop down to get good results outdoors (so doing long exposures at night you would need a different focal length or to stop down). The sig is 2/3rds of a stop slower, but a more versatile lens if it isn't as sharp overall. I would take the range personally I don't usually shoot at anything wider than 16mm APS-C, I would probably only get a wide angle lens for FF as you get a bit more definition due to the larger format requiring a bit less sharpness from natural format resolution gain
I think you can fix the infinity focus thing
It's possible yes but completely unnecessary to have to mess with the mechanics of the lens screws to enable it. I mean it's a lens that cost $700 when it came out, that's a rather glaring flaw

At 67-something thousand exposures, my 550D shutter has finally bit the dust, and locks up unless being used in liveview mode with the mirror up. Anyone know off-hand how much it might cost to repair? My grip is also falling off.
The sig 10-20mm 3.5 is constant aperture as well
I do concerts and party like events, so a wide aperture is key. Thanks though!
It should be around $200-300 which is reasonable.
Dammit, you can get a refurb T2i body from canon for $400 :(
Best off doubling your investment and getting a whole new body imo
Best off doubling your investment and getting a whole new body imo
Agreed, getting a consumer level body shutter fixed sounds like a bad investment anyway. If it was a 5D Mark II it would be a whole other thing (because changing the shutter unit on that camera is also about the same price for your t2i), but you can get a T2i secondhand for almost the price the repair would be.
Exactly! save up and get yourself a shiny new body mannnn
Some shit got on 7d mirror earlier while i was changing lenses. I shit myself as the viewfinder was really fucking dark. Called all Canon repair centers and stuff in europe. Put the battery in and cleaned the sensor. Worked, thank fuck for that. Last time my heart was beating that fast I was abseiling with a D3 off a cliff.
It might have just gotten the aperture stuck a little bit and left it closed, glad everything is okay though. Just invest in a little dust blower thing, it makes swapping in the field less of a problem as cleaning after is easy
something happened to me like that one, I made a diy ir-pass filter for some cheeky ir photography by using a compelely black negative taped over the rear element. It worked surprisingly well, although you had to turn the colour temperature down to 1500K for the white-balance. problem was, the tape i used wasn't very good (or the rear surfaces of canon lenses are really greasy) and the negative fell off and (luckily) got wedged on the little crevice above the mirror I'm pretty sure i dropped the camera as soon as the view blacked out, luckily i was only messing about with it late at night and not outside [editline]1st June 2013[/editline] well, when i say happened i mean it happened today
Just charging up my Brand Spanking new 5dMK3...dear christ it's such an improvement over the 550d.
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1031910/Img%20Dump/2013-06-01%2017.09.38.jpg[/t] Just picked this beauty up for 10$... I just wanted the lens... Any one like SLR's?
So just selling my 550D body along with battery grip (third party) and two extra batteries and with the cables and charger. Posted on craigslist for 350 usd. Some guy emailed me asking if I'm willing to trade my t2i for an Olympus EPL2 that comes with a viewfinder and a 14-42mm II lens. Claims it's clean and lightly used (less than 2500 shots) Comes with 3 batteries and charger and manual. and willing to add50 bucks to it. Worth it? I've been wanting a small compact camera to bring around.
No m4/3 cameras lose their value so quickly
If it was the Sony equivalent would you be saying the same thing? :P
