Depends, they hold their value marginally better (the nex 5n holds best, other ones not so much). The yearly refresh of mirrorless cameras causes the value of the previous bodies to really drop (Pana GF1 is exempt of this). I just don't think the camera is near worth $300.
Ok thanks Trog. :P Was almost about to email the guy back saying sure. Kind of getting desperate now, trying to sell this 550D body. Don't even use it now since I have a new body.
I might ask my parents if they'll allow me to buy it from you to replace my dead T2i. I'll PM you in a day or two if you aren't in a huge hurry to get rid of it.

The newer ones also have tilts screens which make a big difference in my opinion. If you can't sell it though it might be a good deal (forgot about the viewfinder, that sweetens the deal). It's just more of a 1:1 value rather than an actual gain. I would say the money is better than the camera in this case.

I'll make no promises, but I'll get back to you regardless.
Cycling home at 57km/hr and my camera wiggled it's way outta my bag. Waaaaahh. The filter took the brunt of it, but the AF is shot, and I think an internal element is broken and misaligned. There's definitely stuff rattling around in there. The zoom is wonky too. Luckily the body seems relatively unscathed. I actually expected to be picking up a case of dust considering the speed I was going at, the lens cap is embedded through the fabric in bits haha. Shit happens. Don't suppose anybody has an old 18-55mm kicking around they want to get rid of?
id probably use that an excuse to get another lens (not that the kit lens is bad) like the 50mm .8 ii or something
I already have a nifty fifty. I was toying with the idea of getting a 650D, but I really can't justify spending the money. Maybe this is a sign.

get a decent zoom lol
get a decent zoom lol
Yeah get a Nikon 18-55mm VRII and an adapter. [SUB]I'm joking[/SUB]
[SUB]I'm joking[/SUB]
it's okay i won't cut you up over it :v: get a 17-50 f/2.8
Nah, get a Canon 24-70 f/2.8.
nah, get the 400mm f4L [editline]2nd June 2013[/editline] its a zoom coz of the built-in teleconverter
it's okay i won't cut you up over it :v: get a 17-50 f/2.8
The canon one is a little much cost-wise, the tamron 17-50 is good though. But neither are really a "replacement". I would say try and find a sigma 18-50 2.8-4.5, it's an internal zoom and focus design which makes it a nice replacement, and it's small too

size and money. f2.8 zooms are very big compared to kit lenses, and expensive as well
Looking to get some spare batteries for my 650D. What's the difference between the $5 ones on ebay and the $70-ish "official" Canon ones?
The $70-ish ones are less likely to be made in a sweat shop
Looking to get some spare batteries for my 650D. What's the difference between the $5 ones on ebay and the $70-ish "official" Canon ones?
price i see no difference between the original canon and my £5 similar one
Looking to get some spare batteries for my 650D. What's the difference between the $5 ones on ebay and the $70-ish "official" Canon ones?
$5 batteries may explode and fry your camera.
Looking to get some spare batteries for my 650D. What's the difference between the $5 ones on ebay and the $70-ish "official" Canon ones?
It's all about the brand and the quality of the batterycell used. The cheap batteries use cheap cells and are more likely to die earlier than the original batteries. But there are some cheaper brands that are quite good, like Hähnel batteries. They actually give their batteries 2 years warranty and if it breaks down within the 2 years you get a brand new battery from them. Hähnel batteries cost about 1/3 of the original batteries, and i'll get them any day over the original ones.
I never understood why people are so inclined out-of-the-gate to be skeptical of name brands and name brand accessories. It's gear, it's an investment - take care of, and treat yourself.
Friend dropped his 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 and said I could have it if I fixed it. Lens was intact but the zoom ring was stuck. The culprit: Lens gutz All put back together. I only had a surplus of two small screws. I hope they weren't important :suicide:

It's gear, it's an investment - take care of, and treat yourself.
whilst i understand this not everyone has the cash to drop £50 on a battery, especially after spending £400+ on a camera, when you can find better value for money elsewhere and put the money that could be spent on a battery towards something that may improve their shooting more like a new lens.
The cheaper batteries have don't generally hold as much power, or they don't hold as much as they say they do. I've heard of some people having problems where it isn't recognized by their camera and it just says no battery or that its flat. That being said I've used 2 third party batteries in the past, one duracell, one hama, both worked perfectly
Looking to get some spare batteries for my 650D. Has it already been said that the genuine ones have the chip that properly reads battery life while the cheap ones do not and read as full until they from half to blinking empty in the span of five minutes once dead?
