Okay I'm going to buy that
its the right choice
Will I be disappointed if I get a 430EX II instead of the 580EX II, with the aim to use it off camera for macro work in darker environments? e: Though I can't actually find the 580 in stock. [editline]4th September 2014[/editline] Oh, so the 580 was replaced by the 600, but that' like £470. There's a used (like new) 430EX II for £120 and a 580EX II for £200 available.
Main difference would be the flash maximum output iirc. The 430 has enough for most situations, unless you were trying to use it in already bright conditions
Main difference would be the flash maximum output iirc.
So if I were to, at some point, decide to use it to get rid of harsh shadows for portraits, it wouldn't be particularly effective?
no its still bright as fuck trust me [editline]4th September 2014[/editline] you don't need that much power to use it as a fill flash for portraits 1/64th power would be fine
Alright, well that's flash (minus figuring out if I need a receiver set up for off-camera macro shots) and lens sorted, on to the tripod research.
Alright, well that's flash (minus figuring out if I need a receiver set up for off-camera macro shots) and lens sorted, on to the tripod research.
you can get fairly cheap ones for £30 or so on amazon. There are more expensive ones which allow you to change the remote flash's settings from the camera/remote but that's probably not needed in your case
I've heard the Yongnuo thrown around on various other forums, that should be functional enough if I want to get a bit more creative with positioning, right? [editline]4th September 2014[/editline] Specifically, the YongNuo YN-622 looks really good for the price.
I've got a yongnou flashgun for my canon dslrs and its fantastic for the price
I've also been suggested the Cactus V6 with Cactus RF60 wireless flash. Seems interesting, reviews are apparently good and it's agnostic so my friend with a Nikon body could use it. The price of the flash new is also the same price as a used Canon 430EX II, while having the power of a 580EX II. Choices, choices.
thank fuck for the EF speedbooster 600 dollars? :(
Flickr calls the X-E1/X-E2 camera point and shoots. Flickr plz. [editline]6th September 2014[/editline] It calls the X-T1 a DSLR.
is it normal for my Canon 650D kit lens (15-55mm) to feel a bit "jittery", like; the tip of the lens or the Focusing ring just doesnt feel as tight as appose to my telephoto lens where the focusing ring feels pretty tight. Its probably me just being really nervous about the thing breaking, but I just want to check up with you guys. its never had a serious knock but I know it has slightly bumped into a couple of things in the past generally.
The focus ring on kit lenses are usually just trash, sounds about right for it to be a little wobbly
Okay thanks a lot mate, been bugging me for a while since I noticed it.
This is cool as fuck. http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=1330 [editline]6th September 2014[/editline]
I wish they made a Compact Flash version
lost my lens cap, where do I get a new one? Amazon? :(
yeah ebay/amazon is probably the cheapest way of getting a new one.
My only worry is that if I buy a no-name product it won't actually fit tightly
My only worry is that if I buy a no-name product it won't actually fit tightly
Get a fake Nikon style cap.
Canon lens caps always feel a little flimsy and thin for me. I bought a massive pack of cheap filters just for a UV filter to protect my Kit lens, and it came with a lens cap which seems to be a lot thicker then the canon cap, does the job better imo as it feels like its a lot tighter around the lens
Bought a no-name with good reviews for 4 bucks
For caps I recommend the center pinch style from tons of Hong Kong retailers on eBay. They are all pretty much the same, and a little thicker than normal and the pinch is easy to use with hoods. Probably the second best caps I've used at all, with Sony's name brand pinch caps being the best (but super expensive) If you just ebay the size (49mm lens cap) then look for a center pinch style, you can find many for good prices. I just ordered one for $1 shipped. I love Hong Kong
I prefer the kind that fits like a glove and slides onto the outside of the filter ring lens cap.
I prefer the kind that fits like a glove and slides onto the outside of the filter ring lens cap.
me too, I've got a rubber one. my other caps just have a bad habbit of breaking
So I just bought a small set for 50$, I don't know much about photography but I'm fascinated by the old ones, just wondering if I got something good for 50$. Basically, I got a Fujica ST705 with the lenses that comes with it, a 49mm and a 55mm (I think? I suck at this.) Two flashes: DM-24H Evablitz and a Vivitar Auto Thyristor 283 Got three small lenses: All are 49mm, a CU+1, a CU+2 and a CU+4 Big ass lense: Hanimex 80-200mm All of it coming in their respective bag and cases. All the pieces are also pristine, been only used once by the owner. Basically I want to know, did I get ripped off or did I make a good deal?

Can't wait to see what the first photos look like!
