So I'm looking to get my first zoom lens. Any affordable recommendations? (I have canon eos)
16-35mm
24-70mm
but affordable... probably not
Does anyone know what causes this sort of radial noise pattern as seen here? click for larger

It only happens sometimes, and doesn't seem to be tied to a particular lens
I've never seen anyone else's photos have it so I'm curious as to what the cause may be
radial bokeh + high ISO noise??
is it as noticable at 1:1? perhaps it's the scaling algorithm
Short zoom or a telephoto?
I already have a kit lens. 60mm+ I'd say

telephoto then

A good tele is the Tamron 70-300mm USD lens, very high quality. Might be a bit pricey, but if you plan on using it often its a great investment. The Sigma 70-300mm APO is good too for a bit cheaper.
And Laurence, already messaged you about it but it is vignetting correction causing the radial noise pattern. It's just a false gradient
Just ordered a Sigma 21-35mm f3.5-4.2 for Minolta AF (need some cool zooms to keep the a850 viable) from keh. Also got a Vivitar 24mm f2 that was in UGly condition for $20, curious to see exactly what an ugly item from keh looks like and how it performs. I'm wondering if there will be anything inside, wanted a chance to exercise my prime repair skills after my 135mm f3.5 repair turned out surprisingly well
So I'm looking to go to full frame. I currently have a D7000. Are there any bodies that you guys recommend as the next step? It needs to be nikon due to me current lens collection. Im looking at the D800 or the D3, D3 = $1,500 and the D800 = $2,100.
Look at the D750, looks to be an interesting cam
The only D750's I can find are around $2,200. It also doesn't seem like much of an improvement over the D7000, with the advantage being higher megapixels and a bigger sensor. Thank you for your input though.
why are you going full frame again?
All my lenses are full frame which is fine, but I'm getting tired of cropping all the time. It would be nice to use an 85mm that isn't actualy a 120mm. I'm not planning on selling my D7000 as I would like to have 2 cameras (one as a backup for events).
so how is the d610/d750 or whatever not much of an upgrade. it'll have better high iso performance, full frame benefits etc
Well for one is costs more than a D800, is it better than one?
i have no idea, i don't shoot nikon
from what i read the d800 is a touch better
D800 has a better sensor, I just know the used prices of it are down a bit because of people having issues with them and the left side auto focusing. I would be sure to check the cam thoroughly before purchasing.
The D750 has the same AF module, and the tilt screen is nice (and a little smaller). The AF seems to make it a step up from the D610.
The D3 is pretty old though, I wouldn't go for it personally
The D3 only has 12 megapickles and is only a touch better than the D7000 in terms of dynamic range and noise, you'd also have to deal with the huge ~professional workhorse body~ size.
I'd say if you have your heart set on going full frame to make your lenses wider, then save a couple of bucks and get a D610 over a D800. Fewer megapickles but you'll get very similar images unless you're planning to print them huge A0 size. The D610 is kind of targeted at prosumers with a fat wallet while, while the D750/D800 are targeted at people in the industry, but the difference is basically just a few more plugs for external accessories, slightly better build quality and a slightly bigger for ergonomics.

I wish I had a flippy screen on my camera though.

Check out the size of that mic socket cover, pro as fuck.
I can't believe Nikon still sell thousand dollar lenses made of plastic.

I'm going back to this post to say if you have to ask "do I need to drop $2000 on a full frame dslr?" then you probably don't need it.
literally if you aren't confident in your purchase you don't need it
*at that level of gear price.

Boring pet test shot
Not really very sharp wide open, but it definitely kills the background quite nicely.

RIP pentax
Dang going 645 after 67? You'll have a lot more film! Excited to see what you shoot
Got to fingerfuck a Leica M9 in Selfridges today. Was convinced I was gonna drop it.

I'm taking a Black and White Photography course that still uses Film cameras, This is what came in recently. I had bought a Canon Rebel XS but it wouldn't load film and there was no way to manually load it either so I returned it and bought this. All around a much better camera to use in my opinion. It came with a 28-80mm lens which also works on my rebel T3.
My lens adapter for my Sony A37 just came in. It allows me to put FD lenses on Alpha mount cameras. I'm very excited to start using it!

Image quality on it might not be up to par. Those adapters use a glass element that refocuses them, and usually it degrades quality very heavily. If you are looking for cheap manual lenses that can adapt without having the glass element, search for m42 lenses. They will fit the bill.
oh my I just found a zuiko 35mm that's not over 100$, gonna try and cop this. It's the f/2.8 version but I'm not going to be picky now, I'm just dying to get my hands on a 35mm for the OM system.
Ok so since I never really thought about this stuff, is the 18mm-130mm lens for a 1.6x format camera(EOS500) constructed to act as an 18-130 lens for the smaller format sensor or is it 18-130 but actually acts as 28.8mm-208mm lens?
I'm really confused.

I just want to buy my first prime, it's time for improval and I don't want to buy a 30 that'll end up like a 50 or a 50 that'll end up like an 80
