The mm numbers are as they are. The angle of view you'd get on a 500D with that 18-130mm (18-135mm you mean) lens would be the same as if you used roughly a 28-200mm lens on a full frame camera. Usually lenses designed for use on aps-c cameras have a thing on their specs list saying their "full frame equivalent". [editline]27th September 2014[/editline] [QUOTE=Killuah;46090479]Ok so since I never really thought about this stuff, is the 18mm-130mm lens for a 1.6x format camera(EOS500) constructed to act as an 18-130 lens for the smaller format sensor or is it 18-130 but actually acts as 28.8mm-208mm lens? I'm really confused. [editline]27th September 2014[/editline] I just want to buy my first prime, it's time for improval and I don't want to buy a 30 that'll end up like a 50 or a 50 that'll end up like an 80[/QUOTE] If you want to get the same view on a eos 500d that you'd get through a 50mm lens on a 35mm film or full frame digital camera then you'd need a 30mm lens.
All right, I was afraid of Canon maybe printing the equivalents of 36mm film onto the lenses, not the actual specs. So for me this means getting a 30mm lens is the better choice, 50mm(equ to 80) is too narrow for street(for my taste). Thanks for the advice!
[QUOTE=Kabstrac;46098051]traded in my K-5 and its lenses for a Fujifilm X20 :D[/QUOTE] Nice! I think you'll love it.
Something about the Fuji X series dude. I'm watching X100s (plural of X100) on ebay right now even though I know I can probably get a 'better' CSC for the same price...
You could sell the 6D body alone and still have enough for an X-T1 plus a 23mm f/1.4 [editline]28th September 2014[/editline] I shoot an X-E2 and there is something special about it, I understand what you mean. [editline]28th September 2014[/editline] Jpegs SOOC are something special.
Still shooting RAW on my X10. Thinking of switching to JPG just because it's a pain in the ass to sort through large batches of RAW shots and tbh I'm only a hobbyist at best.
I'd love to get a X100s or something of the like but I know I'd never use it despite loving the idea of having one for casual shots and non-work stuff, I never actually take photos when I'm not working anymore so it would be pointless [editline]28th September 2014[/editline] does that make me a sellout

You'd be a sellout if you did something you hated for a lot of money and let the things you love fall by the wayside.
I think 'selling out' has more to do with renouncing artistic principles for whatever sells the most. Doing something you hate for money is a job, doing something you love for money resembles a career. :)
Personally I'm not too convinced by Fuji. Other than their X100 I'm not a big fan of their offerings compared to the competition
Where's a good place to buy old lenses and such? I remember a while back someone posted a site which I ended up browsing for hours with old lenses and such on it, but stupidly, I forgot to bookmark it.

[QUOTE=Trogdon;46102185][url]www.classic.keh.com[/url][/QUOTE] fuck, no.
[QUOTE=Zeemlapje;46088538]oh my I just found a zuiko 35mm that's not over 100$, gonna try and cop this. It's the f/2.8 version but I'm not going to be picky now, I'm just dying to get my hands on a 35mm for the OM system.[/QUOTE] ugh, this seller is most likely trying to get a few hundred out of this lens. going to make one final offer but I might as well just buy the f/2 version from frag4life's workplace.
I work here, and post new stuff on a regular basis. [url]http://stores.ebay.co.uk/CAMERAHOTEL[/url] Also if you're looking for something in specific you can just shoot me a message and I'll gladly help you out.
Got a new NEX 5n body only... The description on the ad looked like it said it came with a kit lens but alas, it didnt. Can I take good photos without a kit lens? What decent lenses can I buy for general use for under 40 GBP?
You won't find anything for under £40, sorry to say. [editline]29th September 2014[/editline] You could grab an old manual focus lens off ebay with an adapter to match it to the NEX's modern lens mount. [editline]29th September 2014[/editline] [url]http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/pentax-a-50mm-1-7-/361057180724?pt=UK_Lenses_Filters_Lenses&hash=item5410af5c34[/url] [url]http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mount-Adapter-Ring-For-Pentax-K-PK-Lens-to-Sony-NEX-E-NEX7-NEX5N-NEX5C-NEXC3-/281179541482?pt=UK_Photography_CameraLenses_Lens_caps_hoods_adaptors_ET&hash=item41779b4fea[/url] Something like these would do you fine, I'm just using that Pentax lens as an example because I've had experience with it and the focusing is very smooth. Manual focusing shouldn't be a big issue because you can use [URL="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWHDEOLREGk"]focus peaking[/URL] to easily see what is in focus and what isn't.
For manual focus lenses I'd recommend the Konica AR 40mm f1.8. Small, good quality, and a bit wider and more useable normal focal length. There's one on UK eBay with rear coating imperfections for £24, very good price and image quality won't suffer in most conditions (little bit more flare) For AF lenses, the sigma 30mm f2.8 is an awesome lens. [editline]29th September 2014[/editline] There's the sigma for £100 shipped, very much worth splurging on. Excellent normal lens
I've been wanting a 70-300 for my Zenit 122 for a long time now, can someone recommend me anything that fits well with it?
I broke a Nikon D5100 today (the colleges) :( But I also Bought a OnePlus One
i wish the one plus one wasnt so ugly
looks pretty good in person tbqh. better than the note 3/4 anyways i think itd be better without the weird silver band [editline]29th September 2014[/editline] i thought all phablets (for the lack of a better word, really) were ugly until i got one to be fair also so idk
the back looks bad t b h with the tiny small camera thing [editline]29th September 2014[/editline] nexus 5 is the perfect design, if it didnt say nexus on the back
looks like the note's one but less embossed i think the iphone 6 camera placement and design is good but id prefer a centered camera any day
(in white, the black one is only ok)
£50 a month for the iphone 6 plus 64gb, might go for it
lol for real is that a 18 month contract are you really going to give them 50 * 18 = 900 £ of your own money
what network im on payg £15/mo with three and its so good. unlimited 4g
it's 24 months lmao cheapest iphone contract out there actually which is the worst bit i currently pay £12 sim only on virgin mobile [editline]29th September 2014[/editline] did some budgeting though and worked out i can afford to take the hit
Fuck dude that's £1200 and you're stuck paying it for 24 months regardless of if the phone breaks or anything.
