Your shelf is bending be careful
Your shelf is bending be careful
I did notice that, these shelves are pretty sturdy and it could probably even handle twice as much on it.. but I'm gonna get another shelf and distribute the weight more evenly to get rid of the bend, it's a bit unsightly.
Finally found one that wasn't absurdly priced. Buddy had it at the flea market. Wanted $60 but I got a much better price because of a reason I'll describe in a moment. It doesn't seem too bad of a camera in comparison to my Brownie. It's pretty much the same thing but with crude aperture control. A little ratty and tatty on the edges and the bed locks are bent from someone forcing it closed without releasing them but it's all there. Even the wooden spool was still in the camera. Anyways, the bellows look okay with no creases, rips or holes but under a lamp all the folds are no longer lightproof. So far the only responses I've found on repairing this is to replace the bellows (oh god that sounds expensive). Is there no other way to fix this like painting the edges with pigment or black rubber like stuff?
It looks a bit too far gone but you could always try Liquid Electrical Tape
ooh i like the look of the fuji gw690 for just mf shooting, if i patch the polaroid shit
could anyone recommend a good choice of wide angle lens for a long shot? ive got a nikon D5100
a what
The Samyang 14mm f2.8 is a good lens for long exposures, and I've heard it's decent on crop cameras too
oh right lol if you're already using a tripod for a long exposure maybe you could stitch together a bunch in a panorama ?
sorry. didn't mean to word it so weirdly. thanks guys! edit: also i dont know how much you guys in this section use video, but do any of you have experience with or recommend the Rokinon 14mm T3.1 Cine Lens for filming?
Same exact lens as the f2.8, just depends on if you want the cine housing or not.

Be prepared to pay import fees at your doorstep though. The GW690III is a nice camera. Annoying built-in hood though because they can be quite loose from wear. I've got the original GW690 myself, love the optics (which are the same on all versions).
do you think it's worth a few £££ more for the iii over a ii?
++ £££ iii > ii ?
There's no real difference between them except for the outer appearance. Just choose which one you'd like most. Personally i'd go for the III.
i prefer the look of the iii but if that's worth £50 i dunno
aesthetics is everything
aesthetics are why i have this Tokina even though it is a piece of poo
t b h the main reason im having my nexus 5 rather than getting a 1 + 1 is that the 1 + 1 is ugly as a lot
Hi, hello.. I was wondering if someone could give me some good advice. I am planning on making video portfolios for people that i know and I used to make little short ones a long time ago with crappy digital cameras and I want to upgrade from that as well as maybe get a new camera. (not sure though because I haven't been interested in photography for a while; people keep asking me to take their photos and never give me credit when they use it for promoting themselves.) I checked out the 4k FDR-AX100 yesterday and was pretty amazed at the quality. I also researched, read reviews, watched a crap load of youtube tests of the 5D Mark iii, GH4, Canon 70d, D3300 and D5300. I own a really outdated Canon rebel at the moment that doesn't even have video recording on it. (xs) Anyways, what I realized with the 4k yesterday, after testing it out is, that it DOES zoom very far, but it still has moire, I would only be using it for close shooting (which the camera seems to do its best when its in 9 feet of your shot) and the sound isn't that great, which is also not a problem because there would be voice over/music on the videos id be making. The camera isn't heavy at all, but you can't change the lens and although its the cheapest 4k camcorder out there now, $2k is still a lot of money to spend on something I probably won't be profiting much from. My first initial thought was to get the Canon 7D because it seems that there isn't much to dislike. My only problems with possibly owning this camera is that it is a bit heavy. I have really tiny hands and I would probably drop it or break my neck with it around my throat. Also, the price is $1.3k. But thats the only issue I have with it so far. I didn't get a chance to play around with it, but I watched a few youtube videos with it and people compare it to the 5d mark iii. Anyways, if there are any videographers here, could you please help me out with a decision? Please and thank you :) [editline]22nd October 2014[/editline] or refer me to another camera/camcorder that would fit the bill.
4k is fucking stupid will you need to record sound? best bet is something like a C100 [editline]22nd October 2014[/editline] maybe even a blackmagic could do you if you'd go without sound
just don't get a 7d

Just really amazing quality video. [editline]22nd October 2014[/editline]
just don't get a 7d
why? also, whats up uber? long time no see.
WHY does the C100 only have 24mbs bitrate am I missing something> [editline]22nd October 2014[/editline]
4k is fucking stupid will you need to record sound? best bet is something like a C100 [editline]22nd October 2014[/editline] maybe even a blackmagic could do you if you'd go without sound
4k is glorius when downsampled, you kidding me? Infact, the c100 and c300 downsample from 4K to give you the final image. Also, cropping possibilities and stabilization [editline]22nd October 2014[/editline]
why?
7D does pretty bad video honestly, we have one at work. Just not a good image, expensive for what it does, moire/aliasing GH4 has the best bang for buck video (4k, high bitrate 1080p, 96fps slomo) I prefer it to everything at our office, including the 5diii which does pretty soft video in my opinion. The c300 we have might be the best but it's so unweidly for the shots I get.
use an atomos ninja with the c100 for juicy dnxhd 185 it's great downsampled but there's no need to have a full 4k workflow up until delivery if you're never going to deliver in 4k you're better getting a higher performing camera that shoots HD and is optimised for HD cropping possibilities and stabilising shouldn't be a thing because you should shoot with the right composition and a stable shot in the first place.
The a7s is a great performer, perhaps a bit pricey but you can get a good lineup of lenses for cheap, and lowlight it's unmatched in the price range
if the next canon pro body doesn't rival the a7s in iso performance i'm going to be very annoyed wtf are canon even doing lately, even their most recent bodies are pretty much outdated by competitors now already
Im probably going to end up buying GH4 in the end. This pretty much explained a lot in full detail. Its what I basically want. Thank you all for the advice

They've stagnated and shown no interest in really hardcore competing, aside from overall lens quality I guess (but losing in price to even Nikon). I mean just look at the 7dmk2 against the Samsung NX5 or whatever. Literally a joke comparison in features
