don't get me wrong, the 6d is an absoutley amazing camera for the price when you factor in the above points but still it's silly that a body canon don't even class as a "professional" level body is their best in many important aspects
Get an a7s as a side body with an f1.2 lens?
have patience, you seem to be doing fine with what you have now. give it a year or two and i'm sure canon/nikon/etc will have something to make the a7s look outdated.
my biggest fear
every pic you ever admired was taken with a camera that already existed.
the only fear is resale value.
buy lenses
im waiting to see that picture taken by a future camera

That chip is private to Sony, going to be a long time until it's matched imo
Even the D800 hasn't been beaten by more than a standard deviation on DXO (it came out in 02/2012), with a slightly tweaked version finding its way in the new d810
The Bayer CMOS is reaching a point where new advances get smaller and smaller
It's not so much that I'm desperate to upgrade, it's more that Canon's top of the line offerings are relatively unimpressive and they don't seem to be too interested in changing that
what if i just sawed the top off of a 5d or something would it become a waist level camera
if a zorki is a poor man's leica then whats a rich man's leica?

This is actually more expensive than a normal Leica. Oh yeah, and it's British.
God save the queen
And the Queen uses a Leica
i ordered a minolta 28-75mm f2.8 and now i'm selling my tokina because it sucks ass!!! and my minolta 24-105mm too because that's not very good either
desperately trying to fill the void of my missing 16-50mm f2.8, but to little avail. that lens was truly special
[editline]24th October 2014[/editline]
after this new lens probably fails then it's onto the mino 28-70mm f2.8 G lens, then a slippery slope onto a zeiss 24-70mm (but probably never will get to the zeiss)
oh lawd it's happening I'm looking at the X100 on ebay. Having fiddled with my brother's one it's frustratingly as fukken excellent as I imagined it would be. Feels foolish spending ~£300 on a 3 year old 12mp camera but oh my days it's worth it just for the feel of the thing.
Go for it, the X100 with the latest firmware is almost the same as the X100S, especially if you're using the OVF more than the EVF.
If you're okay with the cam you have now, I'd consider waiting a bit longer for the X100S to drop down in price to what the X100 is at now. You get better menus, better EVF and more dynamic range (especially in jpegs).
Go for the x100s, the xtrans is better
I'm just flush at the moment. Feel like it's now or not-for-a-long-while. I'll keep an eye on the X100S, though the X100T isn't due for release in the UK until this time next month.
[editline]26th October 2014[/editline]
As it stands you can grab an X100 for under £300, but you'd be lucky to see an X100S for under £500. Is it really worth dropping an extra £200 at least for x-trans?
I think so, that and better AF performance
Im probably going to end up buying GH4 in the end.
This pretty much explained a lot in full detail. Its what I basically want.

Thank you all for the advice
Nice, you won't be disappointed in terms of video quality.
Also, thanks for posting that video, I used his camera settings and it seems even better to work with in post!
I love 40mm

The X100S is a large step up, especially with the Q (quick menu) button being added, which makes changing major settings and changing custom presets fast and easy.
And what Trog said, the sensor is much better. If you put noise reduction on minimum you get film-like grain in the high iso images. I didn't know this until too late so I have a lot of high-iso shots with a lot of NR smudging :v:.
My new family of cameras.

(From left to right) Canon Ae-1 Program, Canon Xsi, Minolta Mark II.

Got both for free since my family is so nice. The Canon was an absolute steal (Leather bag, original manual, a filter, and a camera body cover) but the only problem is that the shutter is either getting old and deteriorating or just got stuff on it and was never cleaned off. The Minolta is perfectly fine and it came with a flash, that works perfect as well. I cant wait to start using them.
What's everyone's favourite focal length? 35mm equivalent of course.
I love 28mm
I like 24mm and 20mm
28mm, 35mm and 40mm
[editline]26th October 2014[/editline]
need something wider tho
18mm f2 (28mm f2.8 equivalent) is all I've used in the past year.
16mm is real fun, ive been shooting a lot on canons 10-22mm (16-35.2 equiv cos 7d)
16mm f/1.4 + 23mm f/1.4 would be my dream Fuji setup.
24mm is probably my most used focal length, on either the 24 1.4L II or 24-70 2.8L II
perfect for getting up close for dj shots whilst still being wide, perfect for wide venue shots with everyone having their hands up etc, perfects for getting shots of people dancing, whilst both having it look like you're really up close with them but still wide enough to show that they're dancing
