hello friends. i am back to revisit this small debate again because I like to over analyze until i am certain that i am making the right decision in money spending and getting what works for me. Anyways, I know its Black Friday today and i don't believe in deals during this time. I think its bullshit really, however, there has been a camera bundle at my local Sams club/BJS for a Canon Rebel T5 18MP 3" LCD for $449. It includes: EF-S 18-55mm IS II Lens, EF 75-300 III Lens, 16GB SD and a camera bag.. Originally priced at $800 after tax. There is also a t5i but its $800. I think that the price for this camera bundle is really acceptable. I don't mind getting it because it isn't breaking my pockets and I can always return it if I hate it. I have an xs and have had it since 2009? 2010...? Again, I am not getting it for point and shoot; Im in need of a video recording device. I know it would be best to get a camcorder so that i don't have to worry about the sensor over heating, and I would rather try out a Nikon, but the price is really great. (IMO) thoughts? I thought this was funny seeing as everyone hates the 7D; http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-EOS-Rebel-T5-vs-Canon_EOS_7D
Its a decent deal imo. my cousin got it after turning down my offer of 320$ for my t2i. the 70-300 and kit lens aren't the greatest but you can still get good pictures out of them. As far as video goes It should be decent and if you can get magiclantern firmware on it it adds quite a few video features that are nice.
I know this is a stretch, but would anyone know what lenses might have been used in this video?
most likely the expensive red ring stuff, don't expect A+ quality from kit glass.
it's also been shot by professionals in controlled conditions
X-pro1 and XF18 for £484 all in. Picking them up tomorrow. Hype as fuck.
but how
but how
The magic of Ebay. This thing probably has a gorillian shutter actuations to be honest, it was the sellers daily driver on a year long sabbatical across the US.
i went through ebay and then i was going to buy one but then i chose not to
i think ill just spend its price in film for my other cameras. idk
went to best buy, became stressed out because they were having an awesome fucking sale. sony a6000 = 600$ before taxes nikon d3300 = 449$ before taxes and the canon t5 that i was getting was 499$ before taxes -_- i ended up buying the canon t5 because it came with 2 lenses and because the nikon didn't have a stabilizer(the worker there said i shouldn't because of those reasons).. he actually wanted me to get the a6 but i was so mad at it because people fucked wight the camera so much and the store was closing in 10 minutes that i didn't really have time to see how it worked. I also didn't bring enough money with me. However, i am planning on taking the camera on a spin and if i hate it, ill go get the a6 and was thinking about getting a few Rokinon lenses. 85mm, 35mm and 14mm. [editline]1st December 2014[/editline] I still want the gh4 :v:
min that rokinons are manual focus. cracking lenses but manual the whole way the gh4 is nothing to celebrate imo, having used it i find i spend more time trying to get it to work than taking photos. the main things are the headline features of 4k and 96fps
i went through ebay and then i was going to buy one but then i chose not to
Yeah tbh it's not like this thing is a small secondary camera to chuck in your pocket when you don't fancy using the DSLR. Bought it as an upgrade to my X10 and it'll be my daily driver. That being said, currently only own the XF18 and even at 1.5x crop it's wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide. Also, went in to work yesterday and the boss basically said 'there's no work to do until after crimbo' fuck.
i won't see daylight until christmas. working 10pm-6am 6 days a week all december.
Super tempted to sell my X-E2 and get a D750 but I fear I'd shoot less despite better hardware just because it's conspicuous/pretentious as a take everywhere, I'd be "that guy" if I was ever with non-photographer mates. Edit: I think I'm good until I could afford both, I'm not happy with how ACR/LR handles Fuji raws, there's a glow of 25-50 pixels or so around areas of very high contrast, like it's trying to create an HDR effect.
Fuji need to release proper RAW conversion stuff already....
Fuji need to release proper RAW conversion stuff already....
They have a raw converter but it doesn't include the full dynamic range of the raw, annoying. Adobe doesn't handle pulling detail out of highlights or shadows very well, yet the in camera jpgs do it fantastically. [editline]2nd December 2014[/editline] I still love you Fuji.
I fear I'd shoot less despite better hardware just because it's conspicuous/pretentious as a take everywhere, I'd be "that guy" if I was ever with non-photographer mates.
This was one of the main reasons I went mirrorless - haven't looked back.
i won't see daylight until christmas. working 10pm-6am 6 days a week all december.
no daylight crew represent
min that rokinons are manual focus. cracking lenses but manual the whole way the gh4 is nothing to celebrate imo, having used it i find i spend more time trying to get it to work than taking photos. the main things are the headline features of 4k and 96fps
what the GH4 is crazy easy to use and the video quality is miles ahead of any canon DSLR

Im not using it for photos. Just videography.
SI'd be "that guy" if I was ever with non-photographer mates.
dont have any mates; problem solved
i live in perpetual solitude for that very reason
my mates are my Sony cameras not my Canons, but my Contax is like an acquaintance
lol no. people are impressed by cameras n ur pictures. dont mug them off by only talking about that and how cool u are with it. and it'll be fine
dont have any mates; problem solved
Good advice, worth it to #GetTheShot
I will only talk about photo equipment with casual people because I am 100% sure I know more than they do so I will always win the conversation
Amaze your friends with how much detail in their faces your new lens can show.
is that a good lens, does it have lots of zoom?
a good rule of thumb is, the bigger the lens the better dont read the numbers just find a huge fucking lens, like an 85-205mm or something
a good rule of thumb is, the bigger the lens the better dont read the numbers just find a huge fucking lens, like an 85-205mm or something
ahem
a lady brought in a 85-205mm vivitar to my work and said "i dont want it anymore, do you know of a place that takes these?" and I said "i'll take it" and she told me "its a big lens, it good, you know" so now i know, cuz that lens is so big
