I got a new 1TB portable hard drive off my parents, no more storing my work on random SD/CF cards!
Time to back stuff up on it and use it to edit!

Yongnuo is making a 35 f/2 and a 50 f/1.4, neat.
Someone on reddit did tests with their nifty fifty clone and it seems pretty awesome for half the price of Canon's.
I'm still waiting on my 50/1.8 from Yongnuo ordered a bit before christmas, from what I've seen it's at least equal to the Canon lens, if not better in Build quality

dang a 35mm f2 is very desirable, the size looks awesome as well. can't wait to see the price and performance on that thing
Is there any advantage to APS-C over other formats? I'm wondering why more companies don't offer full frame sensor sizes, or why they keep releasing multi-thousand dollar pro DSLRs with APS-C sized sensors. Sharpness, resolving power?
cost
tele shooting, physical size, filesize, buffers, more AF area coverage
that makes up a huge amount of commercial shooting
most low end commercial stuff is jpeg straight into a laptop and wired up - the full frame sensor doesn't really make a difference in daylight for them as they use low f-stops and low isos
I just wish there was a FF digi cam that didn't have the viewfinder bump in the middle that makes it look like more than a point and shoot, making it more conspicuous and intimidating. Leica being the only exception but £££££.
Really tempted to get a speed booster and a fast pancake lens so I can get that FF shallow DoF (plus an extra stop) and not be "that guy" around non-photogs.
Looking at the Fuji 23mm f1.4, which is sharp at 1.4 but kinda too chunky to be inconspicuous carry anywhere.
Speed boosters are pretty chunky as is. Even if you chuck a pancake on it it's not gonna be inconspicuous. tbh the X-E2 is probably the best you can do below a Leica. Do the Ricoh GRs have APS-C?
Also got a Gordy strap for my X-Pro yay.
New tripod AGAIN doesn't support any of the loose quick release shoes I have.
Fuck it. I potted one of my closest fitting shoes with epoxy and ground it down until it was a perfect fit.

There. Now I have two shoes.
So my 5D decided now was a good time to spit out the mirror, I mean ffs, Fixation isn't open until the 5th no idea about other Canon authorized repairers
I'm looking for a fast and versatile tripod or monopod for quick, stable street photography shooting.
is there any in particular you guys would recommend around 100 bucks or so?
why would you need a monopod for street
The night time.

Any cheap collapsible monopod on ebay will be fine.
They were free but now I gotta buy umbrellas and stands for them.

Hi, I am looking into buying a DSLR, I've been looking at a Nikon D3300 or a Nikon D5200. According to many sites the cameras are pretty much quite alike, differences are mainly the flexible screen, more fokus points and no AA filter on the D5200. Since I can get them for roughly the same price I'm wondering which one you recommend. How big of a difference does this AA filter make in your shots?
flex screen is more important than aa filter :)
Okay, but is there really any noticable difference in the shots?
If you can put out the money for the 5200, then I would go for that. It has more options that come with it via software and stuff. Picture wise you probably are not going to see a difference since they are both 24 MP (the .1 you'll never notice)
*Ive never had either of these cameras but usually a DSLR is a DSLR. It just all depends on what features and button layout you like better. I also may be completely wrong and if so someone is probably going to correct me.
I don't think I'll ever go back to a non-articulating screen again. Plus, unless you end up shooting fine patterns or other repetitive things far away, the AA filter does more harm than good.
That being said, if you end up with moire or aliasing artifacts I've read by MF photogs that you can reasonably repair them in post processing. So I say go for the D5200 all the way.
Unless the D3300 has some groundbreaking technology I don't know of, the fact that it's newer will probably mean slightly better low light performance and maybe higher maximum ISO but it won't be dramatically better and the IQ will be just about the same.

I think
Depends on how much you value the articulating screen/more AF points. The 3300 punches well above it's weight in terms of iso performance. The battery life is also significantly longer.
i had a non articulating screen and i live just find without oen now
