I don't think I'll ever go back to a non-articulating screen again. Plus, unless you end up shooting fine patterns or other repetitive things far away, the AA filter does more harm than good. That being said, if you end up with moire or aliasing artifacts I've read by MF photogs that you can reasonably repair them in post processing. So I say go for the D5200 all the way. Unless the D3300 has some groundbreaking technology I don't know of, the fact that it's newer will probably mean slightly better low light performance and maybe higher maximum ISO but it won't be dramatically better and the IQ will be just about the same. [editline]4th January 2015[/editline] I think
It's the D3300 that hasn't got the AA filter, but it has a fixed screen. But go for the D3300 since it hasn't got the AA filter? You said go for D5200 and used D3300s attributes. [editline]5th January 2015[/editline] I'll probably end up with D3300 since battery life and no AA filter.
Well today I can finally call a Canon service centre and get my 5D scheduled for repair. It broke the same day I bought the battery grip for it [editline]5th January 2015[/editline] Well when they open
I can honestly say that after owning a camera without an AA filter that it makes quite a big difference when viewing at 100% I'll post an example later when I get a chance
can i take my aa filter out

I've never used a camera without an aa filter so I can't actually speak to the difference but I guess Trogdon has. I do love my articulating screen, however. But if you like the better resolve and improved battery then I guess go with the D3300. Sorry for being confusing!
can i take my aa filter out
u need to replace it w/ a piece of optically isomorphic glass
Yay, 5D is off to Fixation, can't wait to get it back.
I'd still probably go D5200, it will have better handling and the tilt screen. No AA filter is quite nice, but after handling some entry level cameras I can't recommend them. Very tedious to work with as your skills grow, as its a pain to access the features quickly
tbh if the difference is large then go for the cheaper one n buy a better lens and if the diff is small then go for the more expensive one :)
Have you considered a 2nd hand and older camera but prosumer tier so you have room to grow into, like a Nikon D90? Image q is a bit behind the D5200 but you get much better ergonomics, build quality and the AF motor to use AF on cheaper but still high quality D type lenses and dual control wheels for aperture and shutter which makes shooting much faster. It still has a lot of features useful for a new photog like a dedicated info button which you push and will show a message exaining what a setting you've selected is. [editline]5th January 2015[/editline] You'll also appreciate having an LCD on the top, saves a lot battery too.
15 fps burst is pretty fun to play with
get on my level nurds a 70's 2x teleconverter, a sigma lens that was considered mediocre in the 80's, a forty dollar OM to F mount adapter and a screw on tele adapter that may as well have plastic elements. behold the results of the most pro of setups [t]http://i.imgur.com/RY0QGrA.jpg[/t]
it looks like you put a chair leg on the end of it
would probably get similar results either way
Just for shit and giggles [t]http://i.imgur.com/qyt4A8a.jpg[/t]
get on my level nurds
I saw this and I immediately thought "wow that camera is having a huge erection"
I saw this and I immediately thought "wow that camera is having a huge erection"
Trying to find a subject through the viewfinder is immensely difficult with that monstrosity, it feels like trying to put a broom through a keyhole. cheapest 448-1344mm lens ever tho :v
I want to buy my first DSLR but which one? :v: I'm going to buy it used because I want to have on for <€320 (only getting €40 a month) Currently leaning towards the Nikon D3200 which is €225 used (w/o lens but with other small extra's which I don't really need but w/e) I was planning on buying the D7000 used from my brother when he's going to buy a new camera but he isn't planning on replacing his D7000 anytime soon and I really want a DSLR so I don't think I can wait :v: I can optionally sell my godawful current camera (Fujifilm S4800) for maybe €100
Is it worth like the extra £100 or so for the IS USM version of the Canon 35mm
Is it worth like the extra £100 or so for the IS USM version of the Canon 35mm
if the difference is only £100, maybe. it's a better lens all over but i don't have a big problem with my regular F/2. The difference was like £200+ when I looked which put me off, might upgrade to the USM one soon.
I'd also need a cheap lens so recommend that as well I guess
18-55mm kit
I thought that i would put together a photograph of most of my camera gear kind of a shit photo though this is mostly stuff i've just collected over the years Nikon FM +50mm 1.8 and 28mm 2.8 Canon T70 and T80 28-70 3.5 70-200mm F4 2x 50mm 1.8's 28-200mm 3.5 assorted flashes extention tubes filters Olympus pen D (Not Pictured) Nikon D700 + 50mm 1.4 Mamiya c220 Tlr
I could potentially also get a D5100. There's a guy selling one with "(5500/100.000 clicks)" (don't know why there's such a huge difference) and the 18-55 kit lens for €310

D5100 is a good camera, better than what Canon had to offer at the time. Just don't bother with the video mode on it though.
Have a look at foka.nl, in the used section, or try marktplaats you could probably find something good on there
Yeah i'm looking at Marktplaats I can get a Canon 600D w/ 18-55mm EFS lens for €280. Good deal? It seems to have warmer colors than the D5100 which I like
I've used a 600D before and a D5100, the 600D is a good camera, as is the D5100, but I can't tell you which is better at the moment, I'll have to leave that for someone else
anyone want to buy an a7r Considering my life is ruined might as well sell!!
