was released in 98, and was recognized for holding the record of smallest digital camera, which for the time was insane

They should release a game boy camera type thing for the 3ds

With the same sensor and optics as the old gameboy camera.
They have a tight app for the iPhone that takes pictures like the gameboy camera. I've been using the shit out of it

What's it called?
8 bit pocket cam

The pictures look pretty faithful to the original, as you can adjust the contrast and brightness to better match

The top row is iPhone, the bottom is the original gameboy camera. Costs $1 though
Got my old nikon 18-55 3.5 5.6 working on a canon 7d. The in lens IS works too and I have modded it to be at 3.5 to 5.6 as you zoom with a bit of tinkering. The problem was it went straight to f 32 as you decoupled it from the nikon body.
Now I have a shizload of money spare that I was going to spend on a 18 - 105 IS for video.
Ohohoho I feel so happy its criminal.
Did someone get an X-E1 a while ago? I can't remember.
H4z3y
Do you know if he likes it?

A nikon 18-55 with working VR on a Canon body? Seems fishy to me. How did you work out the lens eletrical connections from Nikon to a Canon body? That seems to require a decent bit of reverse engineering the lens communication protocols from both canon and nikon.
Still, it's a 18-55 kitlens on a 7D. Just doesn't feel right to me imho..

you don't need another camera ya scallywag

Too late :v:, but carrying two cameras + lenses is annoying, it's making me lose motivation to go out and shoot.
I got a couple m42 lenses and an adapter, was wondering if H4z3y has tried it with manual lenses.

Exactly, you already have two and you don't need a third. Hate to sound like a broken record, but how about you focus on becoming a better photographer first?
Oh I don't have my old ones anymore, the plan was to sell them and combine them into just one camera. I'd take my 40d most places but I was getting tired of it so this seemed like a good compromise.
Got some gifts form my sister today, said she was out in austin, tx and found some sweet deals on old cameras.
Here's the list:
Polaroid 110a + Flash and light diffuser
Polaroid Swinger Model 20
Kodak Instamatic 104
Kodak Instamatic 314
Konica C35
Olympus Infinity
Sears Polaroid Land Camera + Flash

Now to figure out how these work!

Let him ask the questions he needs to ask so he can figure out what he wants.
This is the gear thread, after all.
I've heard that using MF lenses on an XE-1 is nice. No peaking but zoom assist is good enough, and the sharp OLED helps. I'm sure it's similar enough to a Nex as far as usability, and I shoot a lot of manual glass on mine. It is fun and works for a lot of situations, though its a bit heftier and I wouldn't call it a replacement for glass made for the system.
I would say though that my personal lenses I like to adapt are canon FD, the registry is shorter than m42 and the lenses are a bit cheaper since m42 lenses can work on Sony and Canon DSLRs through glassless adapters, which FD lenses can't. Their 50mm 1.4 is pretty nice and small, though I really like the canon FL 55mm 1.2, it makes a good portrait length, is really sharp at f2, and the flare rendering is really nice in my opinion.

Thankyou for the response, is it the optics that stop manual lenses replacing native NEX lenses or having to manual focus? I tried using a few manual focus lenses when I had the OMD but the crop factor on m4/3 didn't feel right, but focusing was fine.
I've grabbed a Pentacon Auto 50mm 1.8 to give it a try aswell as an adapter for the fuji mount, what I'm looking at is the Fuji 35mm 1.4 XF but I can't afford it right now.

Having a look, the Mitakon 35mm f0.95 is the same price or very close to the Fuji 35mm f1.4, granted one is manual focus and the other isn't, which do you think would be the most fun to use?
The optics a bit, like for instance the nex 50mm 1.8 will be better than mostly any SLR 50mm prime because its a modern optic. Film coatings and digital coatings are different, with the modern coatings giving better performance.
But really it just becomes annoying to use a lens that has 0 communication to the camera. Manually stopping down, manually focusing, having bad EXIF every time, just stuff like that. The size is worse too. The lenses are bigger, then added with the adapter it's just a hassle.
Manual focusing is something that I hardly even think about at this point, I use it more than AF even when using my AF lenses which aren't really made for that. It becomes second nature after time. magnification works well and moving the box around is awesome for perfect focus.
I haven't seen many reviews of the mitakon, but from what I've seen it is a decent performer. But I wouldn't recommend it over the Fuji, for me manual glass just can't replace modern amenities in my opinion. The Fuji is a nice optic, and the size and weight are great for the camera.

For now I think you should get a C mount adapter and buy a Fujian 35mm 1.6 CCTV lens. The adapter plus lens runs for about $40, and while not bleeding in optical quality it is a very fun and cheap combination to use, I've made a few of my favorite pictures using it. The focus falls off towards the edges, making it have a lot of bokeh at all apertures

Thanks again Trogdon, very useful, I can't afford anything else right now but the CCTV lens does look like it would be fun, will look seriously weird on the camera though as it's so small and thin.
The Fuji 35mm 1.4 is probably a safer buy than the Mitakon you're right, cheaper, auto-focus, only a stop slower which at 1.4 shouldn't matter etc.
Do you know anything about the Fuji 18-55 2.8/4?
I have read that it's an awesome lens for the XE-1 (not so much the xpro because of the optical finder), very good performance all around and wide open, but it is pretty expensive for a variable aperture zoom. Like I got the Sony 16-50 2.8 constant zoom for $200 less than the Fuji. If you can afford it, it is a great lens. Better purchased as a kit because its cheaper that way. Aside from the cost it doesn't really have any flaws as a zoom lens

up and coming mod 2011
Thanks for the help Trogdon, I've got it now and I'm very smitten, the focus isn't as fast as my 40D but I don't even care, the files I'm getting are silly good.
I've only got the 18-55 at the minute, it does feel like an L lens though in construction and use.
