I built the plastic TLR film camera from photojojo and I thought that was bad. Holy crap. Looks fun though!
I think I know the camera you're talking about, they're on eBay for like $15. My Konstruktor is fully functional now and it's great, just a lot of work and the film counter doesn't work (everyone says this). You get what you pay for and I paid $35
Did you paint the insides black?
Took a sharpie to the inside :D This was mainly just a fun thing to do over the weekend. Not anything permanent. Learned a lot from it though! Still planning the wooden version I want to make. I'm thinking instead of making the body out of a single block of wood, I might just model it on the computer, slice it up into a bunch of pieces, have a bunch of different types of hardwood laser cut and then laminate all the pieces together.
I'm going away to Ecuador in around a months time from now and am looking to spend around £300 on a lens for my Sony NEX 5R. I already have the SEL1855 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 kit lens but would like to expand my collection. Ideally I want to take nice landscape shots and I assume that the 18mm focal length of the SEL1855 will be perfectly fine. Looking at Sony's range of E-Mount lenses, would it be a good idea to go for the SEL55210 55-210mm F3.5-6.3 lens? It would give me the extra focal length I might need for wildlife or whatever. Or would it be a better idea to get a super wideangle lens such as the SEL20F28 20mm F2.8 pancake lens for the nice aperture and compact size?
i suggest you get a normal large aperture prime, like a 30mm 1.4, but they don't make it for e-mount. there should be an equivalent out there somewhere.
Sony's 35mm 1.8 is a great lens, and has optical stabilization. The sigma 30mm 2.8 is good too, very sharp wide open so the slower aperture isn't too bad. The 55-210 zoom is a good lens, if a long zoom is what you are looking for.
Anyone thoughts/experience with Canons 50mm 1.4? Just playing with ideas in my head.
Not to flood the thread with this but I wanted to see how the Konstruktor compared size wise to an OM-1 OM-1 vs Konstruktor by evaaannnn, on Flickr OM-1 vs Konstruktor by evaaannnn, on Flickr It really is small, especially when you collapse the viewfinder. I promise that's the last set....
Taking good pictures with a digital camera with no manual controls for shutter time is amazingly annoying. Its all fine until random 1/6 in decent light. but it's all i have and the best i've ever had :( I can work around the shutter sometimes by holding the button down half way in brighter light :v:
Anyone has any experience with the D3200 ? Worth the upgrade from the D3100? Budget around 450 euro Haven't really been looking around nor have been up to date with everything lately.
Not worth it.
Any idea (within budget) what camera would do? I basically dropped it pretty badly.
There's a Mamiya m645 on Craigslist with an 80mm 1.9 and prism for $160, looks like a good price. Thoughts?

might go check it out, i've heard that C lenses aren't very durable though so i'll have to look closely at the lens. how do i tell what kind of back it is (like 120 or 220)? anything else i should look for differently than a normal camera? going to look at the seals, knobs, shutter, and such. i just want to make sure it's not broken, if anything is wrong with it i would have to sell at a loss. plus i should see if anywhere near me develops medium format film, and then i would have to order a MF tray for my epson, i'll look into that first before a purchase i suppose.
Just found a Chrome Minolta XG-9 in my gran and grandad's house. I know bugger all about photography but I was wondering if any of you know anything about that specific make? Just out of curiosity really.
I think you guys missed this because I haven't seen any post about it: Allthough I don't care about the camera, there is 1 thing I do care about. CANON IS %$^%$^* FINALLY USING A NEW SENSOR !!!!! I hope the sensor at least has similar performance like the EOS 6D.
take your photography to the next level with an 18-55
CANON IS %$^%$^* FINALLY USING A NEW SENSOR !!!!!
FUGGRRARGRGGGR FINALLY Been waiting for this now see if they improve ISO performance as well, instead of blindly upping the megapixel count.
it looks ugly with that knob sticking out on the top right
take your photography to the next level with an 18-55
Kit lens represent! [sub][sub][sub][sub]Because I'm too poor to afford any other lenses.[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]
Hey Guys, if I were to get a Leica body and lens which combo should I get? Something that would cost less than a new 5d mkiii.

Maybe you could get an M mount camera (Epson) or Leica M8 but those aren't full frame. Including a (Leica) lens I don't think would fit in the budget, you could get something like a 40mm 1.4 voigtlander for a decent price though. If you are doing film, then I would say a m3 or m6. But at that point I think a Contax G camera would make more sense price wise, as you could get the 45mm (class leading performance), 90mm, and 28mm with a G2 for probably less than a Leica with just one lens

I never thought about Contax, that seems like a lot better of a deal.
Sorry to be unclear, I was referring to a film Leica. I never thought about Contax, that seems like a lot better of a deal.
No worries! I still think that for Leica cameras the m3(Double Stroke) and m6 seem to be recommended, though I can't say I know why personally though as I've never used them. Frag4life has an M3 IIRC and a Contax G1, so you could ask him about the differences between the two, he's a great dude and very helpful. To me the Contax looks like a good bet, though I think prices now are higher than a few years ago. I saw a black G2 with a 35mm f2, 45mm f2, and 90mm 2.8 with a starting bid of $2k, not sure if its a great price or a bit expensive. keh has some individual items if you would prefer that route Here are some reviews http://www.stevehuffphoto.com/2010/05/07/the-friday-film-the-contax-g2/ http://www.kenrockwell.com/contax/g2.htm http://laurencekim.com/2011/06/20/contax-g2-review/ http://www.ephotozine.com/article/contax-g2-rangefinder-review-4175
Sorry to be unclear, I was referring to a film Leica. Or Leica M7+the above if you want Aperture Priority
If you get the M3 it will take you 1 billion years to change rolls, leica put in the new film loading system after it
got a very great price on a new rokinon 24mm 1.4 (only $445)! i picked it as it would be fun on digi (35mm equiv and fast) and film. here it is on a minolta 9000 i picked up recently, need to track down a split prism finder for it now. fortunately the lens works without any electronic connection (doesn't work on my 9xi, but no split finder for that so whatever) mounted on my 9000. battery grip and flash don't work i just wanted to look excessive
Are you still looking at mamiya you mentioned? The biggest drawback I found wasn't the system itself but that no good MF scanners exist that are either still on the market or reasonably priced. The Epson v series have pretty poor resolution
This just in: No one shoot medium format again ever, the scanners suck.
I ordered a Lomography Konstruktor on Friday, super excited for it to come in. I think I'm going to paint the lens plastic something different than the main black body [editline]16th June 2013[/editline] Also found this while moving. Still in perfect condition, barely been used. I have to open it up and service it a bit as it makes a ton of (bad) noise currently but the case doesn't have a single scratch. AF35ML by evaaannnn, on Flickr
I think noisy movement is standard on that camera, also the auto focus is awful but you get good pictures from it [editline]2nd July 2013[/editline] I wasn't suggesting to not use MF for that reason just mentioning it as a major drawback if you wanted to digitize what you shot, Epson vseries scanners give about 1500 DPI and arnt worth purchasing for digitizing MF a Nikon coolscan cost >$2000 second handand doesn't support modern operating systems a flex tight is about 10k All I'm saying is if you use MF and want your shit digitized or quality prints on a regular basis you end up paying a lot of money to some dude who's lucky enough to own a half decent scanner or a drum scanner
