I heard the Gh1 with the hack made it better than Canon EOS HD video.
Anyways the prices of the GH2 has increased and the gh3 is awes.
i don't think GH1 hacked will be better, probably just similar. I know the GH2 is a much better device than the GH1. But the website I'm referring to is "EOS HD", which gushes over hacked GH cameras, and aren't entirely realistic about their true capabilities.
I'm looking into hot shoe mount adapter thingys where I can use it to attach video light and an external mic onto a DSLR. Maybe go crazy and add an external monitor on top of that.
Guess who just blew an entire month of paychecks on a 6D.
Guess what I'll be eating for the next few weeks.

Use the camera to record your process of starving.

The idea of an instant photo camera like a Polaroid recently snagged my interest. Who's good to look at for a $50 one? Is Polaroid still king?

polaroids are pretty cheap and easy to find at goodwills, but i think it's harder to find film for those.
the fuji instant cameras should have film that is easier to find, not sure about the quality though.
Looking for Canon lp e6 batteries, should I buy canon brand or third party brand?
I want a spare that works, won't explode and will last as long or better.
Whats the best compact camera for someone new to street photography?
Ive been looking at the GR series for a while now but im unsure if the 28mm lens
will work for me.

3rd party ones are fine, I've had a hahnel lp e6 for around 2 years and previously a duracell lp e8 and they've been fine, they just don't hold as much charge as real canon ones and probably loose their charge when not used quicker

they can be cheap to buy but will cost 1 million pounds to actually use
just ordered a split prism finder for my maxxum 9000!
now i can use my samyang 24mm 1.4 on a full frame device with easy manual focusing and a 1/4000th shutter! might get an 85mm 1.4 if i like the performance of this lens wide open

Is a split prism finder a really desirable thing? Because my x-700 has one.
well the maxxum 9000 is an AF camera. so the split prism screens were meant for people who weren't ready to make the transition right away, but since have become rare as they haven't been manufactured in almost 30 years. the 9000 is one of the most modern cameras available that features availability of an OEM split prism, most newer cameras with interchangeable finders have an M screen which helps for MF, but they don't have a split prism. and third party split prisms aren't as accurate as the glass isn't always fine tuned properly.
so they were common back in the MF film days, but very uncommon for AF mount cameras. i got one because i just got the samyang, and other than buying a pentax or nikon mount version of the lens and mounting those on an older film body you can't really get precision focusing with them in an optical viewfinder (which they work fine on my sony because i can zoom and focus peak on the EVF). but this allows me to have a useful lens on digi and film, which was the main reason i opted for it instead of splurging on the sigma 18-35mm 1.8
So I have a standard Canon Rebel XS, default lens and all.
My step dad wants me to do a photoshoot for him and a friend, and they're in a band. Anyway.
I was wondering, any tips for using the camera to get a decent shot?
He's my only fatherly figure, and I'd like to make something decent, even if it's not going to get him really far, I just want him to be happy.

I didn't plan on using flash.
I'll look those up.
70D looks promising, gents. Canon's finally stepping up their APS-C game, it seems. Exciting.

$1199 for the body? That's an excellent price and I think this is a heck of a competitor to the d7100. How can they manage an articulating touchscreen in the price?
Anyway, whats the real advantage of this new phase detection stuff? Is it just an additional level of focusing accuracy? They seemed to explain the tech but I didn't see anything explaining why it was so much better than contrast.
phase detection means if u autofocus in live view you wont have to wait 1000 years before it locks on
[editline]24th July 2013[/editline]
its a good thing that this is the start of the end for optical viewfinders
Well the point of cabon's approach is to leave optical finders in and still have a normal functioning camera, just with great live view performance as well. But I guess we will see how it works in practice
Guys what film do y'all usually shoot with for b&w, 120 or 35mm? I normally use Ilford HP-5 plus 400 ISO but I was wondering if y'all had any recommendations.

Find a mount that you would like a lot if it worked and then use zip ties to fasten it to the mount. I did this with my iphone and a tripod and it worked well.
