Sigma does it again, this time a FULL FRAME 24-70mm f2 zoom Yes a constant f2 full frame zoom http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr5-et-voila-first-picture-of-the-sigma-24-70mm-f2-0-full-frame-lens/
A 24-70mm f/2 seems like a daunting task. I hope they can pull this off. What gives me hope is the fact that Sigma is going for a complete overhaul, which they have done with great success so far, and hopefully it'll be like their 35mm f/1.4 which to be frank blew everybody's socks off.

He only made one batch of them I'm afraid :( I wasn't active on FP when he was doing it so I couldn't tell you about them. He's making a mini digital infrared camera next.
during a shoot a couple months back, my B800 flash unit exploded. Took a little while, but thanks to an old electrical engineer friend (and $45 in parts), my dead 800 is now a functional 1600, heh
I have tested it and it's terrifying I don't think it's only a 1600
What does a 1600 mean
I'm going to take an (un)educated guess and say it has something to do with the luminosity/brightness?
the 16 is of course a more powerful model. The 800 can overpower the sun's brightness if you're using it directly or with a reflector, but if you want to shoot larger groups with it or use a good softbox or whathaveyou, the 1600 will provide far more powerful light to make up for distance or diffusion this thing however has some hefty new parts, most of which were in the 16's repair manual, some being "better" than the 16's, which worries me a bit. Firing the flash at 1:1 power now is crazy, I'll have to get some shots on monday
hook me up with a link
I'll post in this thread when he's announced them. It'll probably be a indiegogo kinda thing again.

I'm at a flea market in LA and I got a minolta maxxum 50mm f3.5 1:2 macro in mint condition for $15! Needed a macro for product shots, this worked out nicely

Yep, works on my sony gear just as any first party lens would. Minolta lenses were one of the reasons I decided to get into alpha equipment, I get great deals like this pretty often. I got a 70-210 f4 and 50mm 1.4 not that long ago for $5. Lets you build a great kit for cheap and optically they hold up really well.
Cool! Does this mean my all manual Minolta lenses work on Sony dslrs? Should I sell my Nikon and switch to Sony?
NO, minolta MC and MD lenses are a whole different line of lenses which don't even are properly adaptable on Sony alpha camera's (also not on Canon EF and Nikon F). Well if you used shitty glass adapters (that reduce optical quality and light sensitivity) that they would work but who would even want to do that... Trogdon is talking about MINOLTA AF lenses, which are basicly the same as the SONY ALPHA mount lenses. I can't understand that people still sell Minolta AF lenses for so little money in the USA. I guess it has something to do that Sony isn't a popular DSLR brand in the USA. In europe the vast majority knows the minolta AF lenses work on Sony Alpha DSLR's, and ask normal prices for them.
Sigma does it again, this time a FULL FRAME 24-70mm f2 zoom Yes a constant f2 full frame zoom
Holy shit. And Sigma's f/2.8 version is like only $800?
Holy shit. And Sigma's f/2.8 version is like only $800?
Yeah but it's relatively crap, for a couple hundred bucks extra you can get the Tamron which is better in almost every way. Or for like 500/600 bucks you can get Tamrons old 28-75 f/2.8, which boasts good image quality especially at this price. (Have it and would recommend it for crop sensors.)
Just received a few lenses from my uncle in the mail, since I brought my camera around to the family reunion a few weeks ago. They're all Minolta lenses, and as I assumed, they do not fit either my Canon DSLR or Pentax SLR. Would you guys be able to tell me what sort of adapter I'd need to use it with my Canon, or would you need more info? I'll probably take a closer look and take some pictures of the stuff when I get back from work.

Minolta MC, Canon FD, and Konica AR lenses don't adapt to any SLR without a glass adapter If you want to use them get a mirror less camera, but most likely they will be a bit of fun to mess around with but not much more than that. You will get good images, but lose convenience in operation and ergonomics.
[thumb] http://i.minus.com/jbrYFxBoa4sTsz.jpg[/thumb] I ran around recording stuff with this. It's a 50mm f/1.8 on a Canon 60D on a fly cam nano.

Would it be something like this? I wanted to come here and make sure I'd be buying the right thing before I'd spend money on it, and find out if it's worth it. I mean, I kinda just held the lenses in place and took a quick look, and it didn't look too bad, except it was hard to adjust, since the lens obviously wasn't fixed in place or anything. When I get home, I'll tell you guys exactly what it is I've got.
why can't there be a small dslr thats all manual i just want a digital version of my x-700 :( maybe I will become an electrical engineer, and make my own digital back! :)

Does it have to be a DSLR? The Canon EOS Rebel series is pretty small, especially the SL1. here's a photo of the SL1 compared to the T5i (700D) [thumb]http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canon-eos-100d-rebel-sl1/images/comparedto700d_front.jpg[/thumb] I haven't used the SL1 yet though.

I want a thin small mostly metal dslr, like a leica, but an dslr. I mean, look at this camera its thinner than your average dslr, and the grip isnt so huge (which I like), its square... I just want a magic kit to make my x-700 digital basically. All of the digital backs i've seen have crazy intense sensors, but 16mp is fine for me.
I was at this camera shop and bought a mint Minolta Rokkor 58mm 1.2 for $120, could probably sell it for a few hundred more. Sellin my way to an a99 holla

Can it be mirrorless?
