Fuck me. I let a friend barrow my T3i and the kit lens 18-55mm. I got it back and did not check it. Later I went to go take some photo's and the view finder has all kinds of dust particles and shit on it and the mirror is dirty... I took the lens off and looked threw the viewfinder at a light and it looks like the viewfinder has TONS of scratches on it and blurry. Plus now the "focus" red light is berly visible... Should I send it to canon? Or should I try to realign the viewfinder screen and clean it? Keep in mind I have no "delicate" tools and no "dust free" area to work. [editline]fgifgnh[/editline] www.usa.canon.com/repair says my camera is still under warranty wooooooooo. Still I would like y'all inputs on this, the berly visible red dot makes me wanna send it off.
Don't forget to beat the shit out of your friend for abusing the camera.

This cost me £1,800 new (Plus the 105mm UV filter was £100). The newer sports version is about £1,000 more but the only real difference is the different body coating and the ability to connect into sigmas USB dock (didnt seem worth the money)
Man the new sigma lenses look great in terms of image quality (look at the 35mm) and physical design. I have the Sigma 35 f1.4 and 85mm 1.4 (both fantastic and much cheaper than canons equivalent They are also rumored to be working on a 24-70 f2 OS for full frames .... f2!!!! OS!!! .... Full Frame!!! Thats going to stir up some shit in the photography world if they manage it :D

It's not as "new", and there's rumors about the f/1.4 version coming this year or early next year to have the same amazing performance and price point as the sigma 35mm [editline]21st August 2013[/editline] also f/2 24-70 would be awesome, OS would be even more awesome

It will be awesome provided they keep up to the mark with IQ. Canon currently to 24-70 f2.8 non-IS or an f4 IS but won't do a 24-70 f2.8 IS because they say it would be too big and heavy. Tamron recently released a 24-70 f2.8 IS (although they call it VC) to show it can be done but IQ is no where near canons from what I've read Regards the filter it is expensive as filters go but no where near as expensive has getting the front element fixed or replaced if something happens Only had 3 options really regards a filter 1) No filter and risk it for a biscuit 2) Buy a cheap filter for £15 and loose a lot in IQ (why bother with the lens then) 3) Get the one it did, its only logical \\// .... (sorry been watching Big Bang Theory lol)
I still need a good ND filter. The naming is so damn confusing. What do you guys have? [editline]21st August 2013[/editline]
Too good to be true? I got the Samyang 24mm instead, it's a great lens. I got it new for $445 so it wasn't very expensive either. Optically it's great, wide open even

[editline]21st August 2013[/editline] I dunno man, there could be some memory cells worn out already or something.
I still need to get an ND filter sometime in the future, filming video at 1/4000 doesn't look that great. For that card, it also seems like there's no warranty of any kind and it's probably true that the card is worn out in some ways. The seller has a pretty good rating so I'm guessing the stuff being sold is perfectly usable without problems.
gpu problem? computer problem?
It is only when I play the 720p video from the camera, I have other 720p video files and they work perfectly. Uber I don't have a nvidia card so that can't be it. I don't know why it is only the 720p files from the camera that do this.

And make sure you are viewing the files from the computer, not the memory card.
try playing it on a different computer
I think I'm going to pick up a Lumix G6 tomorrow. Any objections? It's my first step into the world of half decent photos/video, so I really want to make the right choice. I had originally planned on picking up a DSLR, but the G6 has tons of cool features, and it's getting great reviews.
What's your budget and have you checked out the gh3?
GH3 is a bit too expensive, Amazon doesn't have a kit and the body is ~$1,100 by itself. I don't want to spend much more than a grand.

I would recommend the Panasonic 20mm 1.7 if you can afford it. What made you choose it over a DSLR?
You could buy a Nikon and have a body that can mount a lot of cool vintage lenses. A Nikon D5100 probably costs half a Lumix G6 but covers most of your needs. Flip screen, live view, Full HD@30fps, Nikon F mount which covers a lot of vintage lenses. Don't buy into gimmicks such as Wifi. Your camera is supposed to take pictures/videos, not download porn.

The built in wireless seems to work pretty well, and being able to send photos for feedback while I'm still out shooting would be nice. The price is right, since it's less than a grand I can afford some decent accessories, and save some for a second lens. The video features really sell it for me, the quality is great and I couldn't find anything better in that price range. Yeah g6 is a great camera and all those features are awesome. Just checking what you liked about it. My other recommendation would be a nex 6 because I like the sony mirrorless cameras a lot, but it doesn't have nearly as good of video. [editline]21st August 2013[/editline] The g6 has a bad ass touch screen [editline]21st August 2013[/editline] Also if you are doing house photos look into the Panasonic 7-14mm, supposed to be one of the best wide angle lenses around for any system
Dang, that's a nice lens. Expensive though. I'll probably just stick with a kit for now, but it's nice knowing that even mirrorless has nice glass available. I was sorta worried about lens selection at first
I'm going to be taking photos of rental homes, so being able to send out photos for feedback before I leave might make things a whole lot easier for both of us
Don't you have a smartphone that can take decent enough pictures?? Or a laptop with card reader?? The cheapest I found was $750 for the body only and that seems like a lot of cash for an entry level body. Maybe you found a cheaper source.

But that reflects poorly on me, and potential tenants will notice. Even if I brought my laptop with me (which doesn't have a reader) it would still be easier to NFC the camera to my phone and send them that way. Here's the price I'm looking at: http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMC-G6KK-Compact-Digital-14-42mm/dp/B00CFCTDD6
You have not thought about buying a DSLR and getting a Wifi adapter? For about the same price as that G6 you could get a Nikon D5200 w/ 18-55 kit lens and the wifi adapter.
