um [editline]23rd August 2013[/editline] wtf
if you want a cheap FF wide angle the tamron 17-35mm f2.8-4 is a decent lens. here's a review (KM rebranded the lens, but optically it's exactly the same) http://www.kurtmunger.com/konica_minolta_af_17_35mm_f_2_8_4id225.html
Canon EF 17-35 f/2.8L is a really shitty lens (well dissapointing at least). Not worth the L tag. The version 1 of the 16-35L is pretty decent, and some people prefer it over the version II because it uses 77mm filters. There is no reason to take the 17-35L, except when its super cheap.
Kingstons also a fair bet.
I've had a lot of mixed experiences with Kingston. Used the Kingston SDHC 32GB Class 10 High Capacity Secure Digital Card (SD10V/32GB), borrowed them to film stuff. http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=11_1216_175_176&item_id=049570 One time I was setting up for a talent show and I used that card in a T2i and it just wouldn't record any video. Turned on and off camera, reinserted the card, formatted the card, nope. Had to switch cards. It worked perfectly fine on a T3i. Used the same card for a different event, no problems but still shot on a T3i. On a different shoot, I used a stack of these no problems at a convention using a T3i. Perhaps the buffer is smaller on the T2i than the T3i?
So I am looking into buying a prime lens to use as opposed to my 18-55 that came with my D5200. I like the price point of the 35mm or 50mm f/1.8 Nikon lenses, but I am not sure which one to get. I am leaning towards the 35mm, just because from what I read the 50mm is better for portraits, and outdoor photography, but the 35mm is suitable for that kind of stuff as well. Anyone got any pointers or advice?
35mm
Would it be dumb to buy a refurbished one?
Would it be dumb to buy a refurbished one?
if it's nikon refurbished, i don't see why not
I mean its like a $25 price difference. Not sure what the deal is with Nikon refurbed ones, like warranty wise and whatnot
You might not get a warranty of any kind, or a very short warranty.
I can't speak to it's speed, but I bought one of those fancy metallic blue samsung 16gb sdhc cards and it's quite durable.
I mean its like a $25 price difference. Not sure what the deal is with Nikon refurbed ones, like warranty wise and whatnot
I have heard that nikon refurbished stuff usually works better than new stuff, because its hand maintenance by a technician. My d3100 was nikon refurb and it has never had a single problem
I found one on ebay new for $196 with a 5 year warranty sounds like a good deal to me
so now instead im looking into doing sports photography for school and I am kind of on an unnamed budget, but cheaper is preferred. So, Nikon 55-200 or 70-300? I am talking about the newer ones since my camera is stupid and doesnt have an in body focus motor. [editline]24th August 2013[/editline] is the sigma 70-300 bad? [editline]24th August 2013[/editline] i dont know shit about sigma lenses
The sigma 70-300mm doesnt have particulary quick autofocus from what i´ve experienced. But the nikon 55-200 neither. I wouldnt want to use either of them for sports. Look into the tamron 70-300 VC USD. Yes that´s not a super cheap, but is actually usable for what you want to use it for and for the price it´s great. Has quick autofocus and stabalisation and it´s even better than the original Nikon 70-300VC.
Thinking of ditching my Yashica Electro 35 rangefinder for something that gives me a little more control before I go backpacking around Europe. Recommendations for a 35mm camera that's fairly easy to carry around for an entire month? I don't particularly want to be fumbling with lenses either. A nice rangefinder or a small SLR with an all rounder lens would be nice. I've been thinking about an OM-1 but I dunno.
Pentax ME-Super with a 50mm lens
Personally I would get something with a 35mm lens. It depends on the person but I find 50mm to be too narrow.
gee I wish I had $1000 to buy a Nikon 18-300 VR. that would cover the lens i currently own and the next one I want
Personally I would get something with a 35mm lens. It depends on the person but I find 50mm to be too narrow.
I'd agree. My Yashica has a 45mm f/1.7 and I find it's sometimes a little too tight. Also forgot to mention a budget. Anywhere up to like £250 would be cool for a camera in decent condition.
gee I wish I had $1000 to buy a Nikon 18-300 VR. that would cover the lens i currently own and the next one I want
Superzooms make me cringe.

But yeah if you don't even have the money to buy a lens now, why don't you just borrow your sisters lens? [editline]25th August 2013[/editline]
gee I wish I had $1000 to buy a Nikon 18-300 VR. that would cover the lens i currently own and the next one I want
The combination of 1000 usd and a superzoom sound like a very bad investment.
Konica Hexar AF?
Slightly in love. I'll see if any drop into my upper price range over the next 6 months.
Slightly in love. I'll see if any drop into my upper price range over the next 6 months.
I have a Hexar AF Titanium (limited edition, only 1000 made) in user condition and I'm contemplating about selling it.
The only thing I'm worried about is the upper 1/250th shutter limit
The only thing I'm worried about is the upper 1/250th shutter limit
Use ISO 100 film. "Problem" is gone.
Use ISO 100 film. Problem is gone.
That's not very flexible though is it. I'm spending 31 days travelling and the places I'll be shooting will vary a lot, as well as the time of day.
