Was talking to a friend about the 70D since I'm going to get it "why the fuck would you use the 70 for video, AF is terrible in video" "no dude it's literally designed for it" "i bet it's terrible" I showed him this video "well i'd rather just use the focus ring"
time to throw my t4i out the window
Took my new flash on the roof, set it to 400 and checked the range. See those houses in the lower left? Those are three blocks away.
I'm sure your neighbors love you.
The place has been silent for weeks. I think they moved out. :v:
The place has been silent for weeks. I think they moved out. :v:
Better go investigate with about four friends without telling anyone where you are, and make sure to bring one black guy and two girls!
Also only bring the flash, no permanent lighting.
Stuff like cars, in broad daylight. Maybe my aperture priory mode is lying to me about the shutter speed?
try panning with the car. i haven't shot anything moving that fast in a while but i'm sure even a slight pan will help, practice with digital first though. it could be the cloth shutter, but that's just a guess i'm not certain

What would be the cheapest & most lazy way to make a steadicam? I know of the tripod trick but you can't detach the legs on mine.
Compared to my T3i, it's a good upgrade imo. 7FPS, 20MP, 19 Focus Points, Better Low Light Performance, WiFi video monitor and control; it's pretty much all the features I like except the lack of a full frame. Which brings me to my second question, should I get my glidecam or the 70d body first?
Answer 1: It depends on what you want, the T3i is like the lower end version of the 60D and now the 70D is here replacing the ~3 year old 60D. If all you do is video, the faster fps and higher megapixel count won't really matter for you but the better low light performance and wifi features would. Answer 2: Glidecam is like $500-700 and a new 70D body is around $1200. If you really want a glidecam I'd say get the glidecam, it's going to be more useful to you (and me imo) than a new 70D. If all you do is work on a tripod, then get the 70D and have your T3i as a B cam or BTS (assuming you have enough lenses, like 2). Of course since you're asking which one to get, you must want a glidecam. If I had a T3i, I'd rather get a glidecam over a 70D since I love glidecams, used them a few times and enjoyed the results. Going to go for a Glidecam HD2000, don't really need the HD4000 and my current camera rig weight is only 3lb. I already have tripod, shoulder rig, fig rig, need glidecam, video mic, lights...

For the most part, the AF system and the WiFi control sells the 70D for me, since I can have an operator and someone controlling focus from a distance-- assuming that it streams at least 15-20fps over WiFi. I plan on getting both an HD 2000 plus the 70D, it was just a matter of which I wanted first. Not mentioning that I'm also going to use the 70D for sports photos with the increased framerate.
The WiFi function has decent lag and generally doesn't seem to work too well.
it's good when you think of it as a replacement for a wireless remote but not good when you think of it as much more capable than that.
Tape it to a chicken.
gonna film for a short movie starting next year, i need something that works but i don't have the money
The WiFi on my 6D is pretty useful if you're doing selfies and whatnot, as you can change the settings and see the liveview as well as working as a remote. On the 6D you can't use video whilst WiFi is on, I assume it's enabled on the 70D from what you've said
gonna film for a short movie starting next year, i need something that works but i don't have the money
$14 steadicam by johnny lee?
What would be the cheapest & most lazy way to make a steadicam? I know of the tripod trick but you can't detach the legs on mine.
put camera on tripod, use tripod like monopod
What would be the cheapest & most lazy way to make a steadicam? I know of the tripod trick but you can't detach the legs on mine.
eat tons of beta blockers
$14 steadicam by johnny lee?
i guess i'll have to do something like that
put camera on tripod, use tripod like monopod
tried doing that but it needs better offset from the hands
I think I might need a new camera bag. My current tiny one that barely can fit my D5200 and the 18-55 kit lens just had one of the zipper basically break in half and cease to function entirely while calming unzipping it to take my camera out. [editline]29th August 2013[/editline] any recommendations for something that could carry the body, 18-55, and a big 70-300 telephoto and the other little things like memory cards and whatnot. I think after I get this lens I need to start getting stuff like spare batteries and new straps and whatnot [editline]29th August 2013[/editline] And are the battery grips worth it?
So I'm looking to get a good entry-level DSLR. I used to use a Canon Ae-1 and while I still have it, I want to move over to digital. So far it seems to be a toss up between a T3 and D3100. From what I hear, the D3100 is a better choice though. Do you guys have any particular comments or recommendations?

It's hella light and easy to carry around. Compared to the T3, the main advantages it has is that the video is better (T3 has 720/30 max, D3100 has 1080/24 max). The 3100 has two more AF points and ever so slightly less shutter lag, but those two points are negligible the difference is so small. Of course, Nikon being typical Nikon, there is no in body AF motor in the 3100, which means the older lenses won't be able to autofocus on it, you have to buy the Nikon lenses labeled AF-S, or other brands with an in-lens focus motor. The D3100 has a better build quality and larger screen, the T3 has a decent bit more battery life. [editline]30th August 2013[/editline] This is a pretty good deal http://www.adorama.com/INKD5100KR.html
Well my price range was hopefully around $300, lower if I can manage it. Which is why I leaned towards the T3 or D3100. [editline]30th August 2013[/editline] I think I'll go with the D3100. [editline]30th August 2013[/editline] Ordered! Now comes the waiting game...
whats the point of a UV filter and a polarizer filter and should I own one or the other
one stops your lenses breaking* and the other stops your lenses breaking* too but also makes the sky darker and removes reflections (and eats ~ 2 stops of light) own the latter [editline]30th August 2013[/editline] *warning: does not actually stop your lenses breaking [editline]30th August 2013[/editline] respectively [editline]30th August 2013[/editline] i wonder if you can get polarizers which eat more stops of light so skies will appear as if you shot them with a red filter on b/w film
I never saw that removed reflections stuff and I still dont understand how that is supposed to help.
I never saw that removed reflections stuff and I still dont understand how that is supposed to help.
take pictures of cars while you can see the interior
Ok got it http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/polarizing-filters.htm
so what do I buy if I want my sensor to get less light so I can take long exposure pictures in broad daylight, because I could not get faster than 1/4 a second trying to get one of those smooth water pictures of my pool
