If you are shooting crop use a sigma 30mm 1.4, the Samyang won't be much better
Glidecam HD 2000 for $399 in my area.
I sent an email literally the second I saw it
Shit, that's a great deal. I'm guessing it's used? Either way that's a pretty good price.
I recently bought a Leica Summicron 50mm DR and it has a layer of haze in it:

Does anyone here got any suggestions on who I can send it to for professional cleaning in North America?
How much did you pay for it? I would return it if possible haze is expensive to get rid of you need to recoat the lens

Why would the lens require recoating when the haze is just evaporated lubricant and isn't damaged otherwise? The layer of haze is not as severe as it seems normally. It's only like that when a strong light is shined through it. The lens costed me around $700

Who cares if it's used? I have access to one at school, and man are they built like a tank.
It depends on the set up. If the lasers are at the front of the stage while the DJ is behind the lasers, you will have enough on stage coverage and you won't run into lasers. If the lasers are behind the DJ, that's a different story. Speak with the one in charge of the laser show and ask if you can have a dead zone on the stage and at the center of the dance floor. Having this dead zone will allow you go walk around on stage aiming the camera at the DJ without the lasers going near your camera. It also looks cooler if you do a shot from behind the DJ showing the crowd with lasers left and right where you don't see the laser systems. On top of that, you'll have a dead zone in front of the DJ and onto the dance floor so you can get a shot of the crowd in the foreground and the DJ and lasers in the background without worrying about the lasers hitting your camera. You're not going to run into any lasers when you're pointing the camera at the crowd while it's pointing at the direction of the lasers anyways.
I'd highly recommend you make the arrangements and test them before the show of possible. And know where the dead zone area is. Some laser show technicians set up the center area of the whole stage and dance floor as a dead zone or where ever else there's going to be camera set ups.
When you're doing shots such as when it's close ups of the DJ and their movements on the audio deck, you of course won't run into lasers.
Hope this helps!

Try leaving it in the sun (or UV light) to see if it lessens it at all, it should be able to a bit. I would get a quote from keh.com as they have a decent repair department.
But still it can be very stubborn to clean, recoating would be worst case scenario I'm sure yours probably isn't quite so bad. The UV should help a little, it might need a complex clean though. I would look to keh.com first, and get a quote from them first.
I've done about 2 hours continuously with no problems. Then I recently did two shoots for about 1 hour total each, so it works fine. But my camera only records ~28/Mbps iirc
the Sandisk ultra should be able to handle the Nikon video bit rate but it doesn't always. Same with Canon video bit rate.
I've like formatted the card many times on camera, still problems today. I also get that buffer warning more and more often when it's recording now... The card is only 4 months old.
I'm just so mad at the Sandisk ultra series for fucking up so many videos...
The Sandisk Extreme series never gave me any recording problems. (yet)

this is a good idea but I'm thinking i'll need to stop down a bit for dof and the VC will help with that (already shooting at 1600+ in the engagement, I doubt the lighting will be brighter in the wedding and bigger numbers are scary)

Send this guy a email, he can get your lens serviced: http://www.dagcamera.com/
He was very helpfull when I mailed him about my own summicron rigid.
My card is a Transcend 16GB Class 10 card, filmed over an hour once in 1080p/24 in one go and no stuttering/buffering whatsoever.
It all came down to 30 seconds of cut footage :v:
What camera? I'm guessing it's a Nikon DSLR.
Anyways Nikon always has the lower stock bit rate, 28Mbps (max bit rate of avchd) vs Canons 45Mbps.
Although that bit rate is for Canon DSLRs. The lower end point and shoots to larger cameras that look like DSLRs but with a fixed lens all use a lower bit rate. Probably avchd or mp4 at a lower bit rate. Same with practically all camcorders that record in full HD, almost all use avchd. Even Canons prosumer line (xa10)
nikon d3100
avg of 19mbps
it does look good finalized though

Trying putting something black behind, and shooting flash at 1/1 through it atleast 10 times, AS CLOSE as possible to the lens.
yeah that was our first movie, i used autofocus all the way through, bleh
i seriously need a steadicam thing though for my next project
You should get a tripod first
[editline]2nd September 2013[/editline]
Can you change the bit rate or the fine settings for video on your. Nikon?

i have a tripod, but having it static didn't really work
no
Get or make a shoulder rig
rigs are expensive as fuck and i'm a zero budget projecteer
and i'm terrible with building things, honestly.
Well that steadicam or glidecam isn't going to be any cheaper.
You can get a shoulder rig for $50, a glide cam knock off called flycam for $200.
not here, shipping is a bitch
and $200 is too much, i don't even get any money from my stuff
Check out eBay.
$200 for a knock off glidecam is the cheapest you'll get for a proper enough glidecam steadicam
It's more of $170.
And I don't get paid for my stuff either.
well here's what you do: steal a glidecam and film yourself doing it (with it)
put the footage of your daring escapade out and monetise it

that's too much still, not really worth it

no one's gonna watch it, hence no money.

then you're not going to get much of that steadicam/glidecam you wanted for anything less
no one's gonna watch it, hence no money.

it's not that nobody watches it, i'm permabanned from adsense
yeah i know
holding my tripod kinda works, i'll go with that
