how many times can we go round in a circle
Either the footage was horrible to begin with or you're using the wrong settings
i think you should get a new tripod to attach to your shoulder rig since you said you can't afford a software stabiliser and using a camera is just too shaky, even after post-processing on a camcorder
TRIPOD.
FLUID FUCKING HEAD.
MANFROTTO 701HDV

DO IT.
with the d3100 yes
i think it turned out pretty good, but a rig would help
buy that $50 shoulder rig, switch it to the fig rig set up, boom you get yourself a "steadicam" if you use it properly.
This whole video recording setup convo is dragging way too long and it's getting a bit ridiculous now
why say i can't afford a good stabilizer? isn't after effects good enough?

the shipping was shit, not really interested
Howdy!
I don't frequent this thread very often, but I am sort of jumping head first back into photography and I am looking for a decent/good Canon wide angle lens, anywhere in the 10-40 mm range for under ~$400.
Any suggestions?

for under $400 you aren't going to find much wider than 18mm on a zoom, if at all. and if you are using 18mm at the widest, then the 18-55mm kit lens is good enough for general purpose wide stuff.
if you want wider than 18mm your cheapest options are the sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 (very good lens) and the samyang (sold under different brand names such as rokinon, bower, vivitar, etc) 14mm f2.8 lens. the tamron 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 is supposed to be alright as well, but a bit more money
i would splurge for the sigma due to the wider angle and zoom abilities, but the 14mm is very good for the price, is pretty wide, and would work on film bodies or a full frame digital if you ever got one. however the samyang 14mm is all manual, something to keep in mind.
used you can get the sigma for around $350 cheapest on ebay, and the samyang 14mm for around $285.
any questions feel free to respond here or shoot me a PM!

If I were you, I'd try and save up a bit more for the Canon EF-S 10-22mm. You can often buy it used for around $550-600, and its image qualities are drastically better than those offered by cheap off brand lenses.

This is true as well, the canon should beat most all lenses in the similar focal range for EF-S lenses. So it just depends on how often you will use the wide lens, and how wide open you will use your aperture. The canon will be sharper at wider F stops than the sigma, but if you are stopping down to about f8-11 there wouldn't be a drastic difference.
solution to the whole stabilisation thing: tape camera to chest

i am, you can see it here
notice the small vibrations? looks odd.

this looks pretty similar
i'm doing a project for a photography class, we use these reloadable metal 35mm cassettes.
so after I'm done shooting, I put it in my backpack and a few hours later, I take it out and the end cap of the cassette has come off.
is my film ruined?
Moat likely it is ruined unfortunately :/

same thing, different seller
same thing, different seller
well it's cheaper and it's good good reviews, might buy that one
Thinking of getting a new lens. Not sure if I should get the canon 50mm 1.4 or look around for something a little wider. Anyone recommend something 30-35 for under £300? Even if it's old.
Also, anyone have any experience with the EOS 50 manual? Wanted to get into film again and was looking for something I could use my lenses on.
Anyone have any opinions on the Canonet QL17 G-III? My dad has a friend that is trying to sell one for 60 bucks, I'm looking for cheap rangefinders.

Great camera and would compete against the Leica CL with 40mm f/2 in terms of lenses. The Canonet is a worthy oponent and the lens has very nice bokeh.
And 60 bucks is fairly cheap for this camera.
got a lens today, 58mm f/1.0
has no aperture and no focusing mechanism since it's for radiography
can't seem to find anything about it at all as well
wonder if it would be possible to scavenge some of the zorki 4 parts i have and maybe use the shutter assembly to make a working camera with this lens
[editline]6th September 2013[/editline]
also lens mount is unknown, looks like maybe m44 or m45 thread; flange focal distance is way too close to be usable on anything with a mirror

It's probably designed for near macro work, it could be a medical lens. Post pics of it though it sounds cool

really, the leica cl? yeah, I've seen a few going on ebay for ~$100. gonna get it then.
my dslr is currently dead and i have no idea where the charger went (i'm in the middle of trying to find a new flat to move to), so prepare yourself for some horrible phone pictures

also, the whole thing can be disassembled fully (more than in this photo, i just didn't have anywhere nice to put the optical elements)

I got to try a 70D today, fucking want
They weren't bullshitting that demo video, the AF system is flawless. Gonna be super nice with a Glidecam.
Only noobs use AF in video mode
if the autofocus is smooth and doesn't make any noise i don't see any problems with it
Only noobs use AF in video mode
When you're flying your camera on a steadicam and it can smoothly keep your subject in focus even with focal distance change, I don't really give a shit if it's for noobs

(not mine)
fine by me if you want choppy terrible manual focus pulls while you're busy running around
