Gear discussion thread v. "I got some new gear and I got to post it here"

So I shot some video with my new G6, and it lived up to my expectations. The image rivals that of a Canon 5D, while being smaller. (And 60fps 1080p!) Also, I got a EF to MFT mount adapter, so I can use Canon EOS lenses around my office. (Although I can't change aperture from the camera)

woo oh god my wallet is in pain, debating selling my 24-105, but I feel the IS will be useful as I'm doing Digital Film Production at uni for 3 years

If you're going to be shooting stuff without support gear then you should keep your 24-105.
And isn't the 24-70 f/2.8 the one with the really weird zoom? So at 24mm the lens is fully extended? Wouldn't that be annoying? And the picture seems weird if that's true.
edit: looked through it some more, the 2nd version fixes that.

7D mk2?
7D mk2?
Nope, most likely a real new pro-body. People are talking about a new number.
3D...
Most likely it's going to be a high DR improvement over other sensors and their highest megapixel model yet. So basicly Canon's answer to the Nikon D800.
It's probably going to be full frame since almost all full frames today don't have an internal flash. Assuming that picture is a representation of what's coming soon.
And I'm pretty sure the 7Dmk2, whenever it comes out, will have an APS-C sensor.
anyone know any good lenses with an aperture ring, fixed focal length? Getting my first lens. Budget, about 300 dollars. Mount is: MFT, FD, or EF. I don't know what to get at all :(
Anyone here know stuff about video lights?
The cn 160 looks very good and it's inexpensive

Speculation is 99% certain its an APS-C, as a lot of current 7D owners will likely have EF-S lenses so they wouldn't switch to full frame as the lenses would become useless
Could be the new high pixel sensor that has been rumored for a while, or possible the new super low light sensor that Canon released sample footage from of it filming fireflies in 0.01 EV of light (aka, very bloody dark)

London Drugs dropped it to $499 about a month ago.
So I inspected a brand new Canon 50mm f/1.8 and there seems to be a scratch or dust or an air bubble on an element that's inside the lens.
What do? Don't worry about it as it probably won't affect the image or return?
After inspecting it some more, it looks like there's some more dust inside the lens.
And what I mentioned earlier, it's on one of the rule of Thirds points on the entire image circle.
[editline]3rd October 2013[/editline]
Pretty sure lens inside the lens will affect image quality and be noticible just like dust on a sensor.
Well if you don't like it being there return it, it's not going to affect your image though pretty much all lenses look like hell when you shine a good enough light through them
I'm looking for a 35mm for my EOS 10 because that Zuiko 35mm f/2 was suddenly sold to someone else even though I kept a daily contact with the seller. I need a 35mm with a wide apperture (f/2 is wide enough) but I don't want to spend a fortune.
Any brands I should look out for and avoid? I need one I can mount on my EOS 10 without colliding with the mirror when it pops up.
got this for free, near-mint... any use?

Got this cheap, can anyone tell me what would fit to be usable?
Gather it's just a release plate and some sort of fitting?
Help please.
Its not a release plate, I guess it had a rubber covering and a tripod screw at one point.
Its not a release plate, I guess it had a rubber covering and a tripod screw at one point.
I meant that I thought perhaps a release plate could attach.
Anyway, what would I need to make it functional again?

My guess is a screw that will fit into a camera (forget the exact size) and some sort of rubber to cover the metal so it doesn't damage the camera.
Or you should be able to remove the whole tripod head and replace it with a new one

Think it's a 1/4 inch screw typically?
mind the height of it though, don't want it to tunnel right through.
On German amazon they are selling the cine version of the Samyang 24mm 1.4 for like 90€. I think it's a Canon EF mount with a pentax Q adapter. Just thought I would share

Just ordered the samyang 24mm f/1.4 Cinema version.
Will keep you informed how this goes, because this obviously is some kind of error at Amazon's end I'm guessing.
Thanks for the headsup !
you can ship to UK, however i don't have enough cash to go through with it. I doubt they will be honoured though.
Holy fuck what??? Is this foreals? fuck it im just gonna place an order
I figured worst case scenario they just tell you it was an error. I would have ordered the 14 and 85 if it was an American deal. I think the discount has something to do with the way it is marketed as for pentax Q instead of for Canon EF
Why does the German Amazon not accept PayPal? Can't order one now :(
Got to talk to some video people at the church I volunteer at today, there might be a chance I get to join their team. If I do manage to do so, i'll be able to use this more often
