Do you guys think this is worth buying and fixing?
Do you guys think this is worth buying and fixing?
If you're experienced with micro electronics and soldering, yes. It seems like a easy fix, but trying to find the actual switch that goes there might be a challenge. I wouldn't try to fix it myself, but that's knowing i'd fuck it up and end up breaking the damn thing.
Do you guys think this is worth buying and fixing?
If you have some expierence with soldering and small electronics you will probably be able to fix it quite easily by just bypassing the switch entirely, if that is actually the problem. Taking the camera apart should be a lot easier than with old Canon cameras like the 1-n (oh boy is that a bitch to work on, flat flex everywhere).
It was my birthday yesterday, and one of my friends got me an awesome addition for my collection. It's a hello kitty lomo fisheye!
I can't open the OM10's battery compartment it won't budge! Should I screw open the lower plate and pray the battery hasn't leaked?
Most likely the battery has leaked, people don't usually remove batteries from old things. Cleaning the acid isn't too bad though, you just need white vinegar and a cotton swab
Anyone here uses those memory card wallets?
Yay, Sony A7 and A7R: Goodbye EOS :v:
all of the un-ergonomic design of the older slrs with none of the pretty thanks sony

Now I just have to get me some batteries.

Stupid royal mail not ringing my buzzer when delivering it.... Will pick up my package tomorrow if I get a moment.
I'm really disappointed they didn't follow the Nex 7 design, especially with tri navi and viewfinder placement. That shutter button looks uncomfortable too, and reminds me of the sony a230 or film cameras. I don't even use my A-1 without a grip because I don't like the shutter placement that much I mean it's a wicked exciting camera regardless, but I really dislike the design. At $1800 for a brand new tiny FF camera that accepts pretty much every lens ever made I must say I will probably end up owning one, and I'm sure the design is fine in person, as Sony seems to make ergonomically viable cameras.
I'm used to using a Canon F-1 without a grip, so in terms of ergonomics i'm fine with the shutter button placement. Only thing that might cause trouble is that exposure compensation dail. It looks easy to knock out of place.
I just don't find it comfortable personally, though I bet a lot of people do as it was pretty standard on most film bodies. I think a switch of the front dial and shutter button would be fine, like the nex F3. I don't like the compensation dial, I prefer just setting it as a function of front dial. Really want to try one in person and I would love to be proven wrong, I've liked controls on all my Sony's thus far
My fucking tripod fell on a shoot today and my camera hit, lens first, on to a cement floor after falling 6 feet. The lens seems to be a little fucked, the focusing ring is scraping when I move it. However, I think I bent the metal back with a knife. Is there anything else I should look for that could be fucked? the camera still focuses evenly across the frame. I think only the lens got damaged, and even then I still shot my 2 hours of footage for work with it.
lens might have decentered a bit, check to see the evenness of sharpness across the frame (like one side might be sharper than another), it sounds like it came out okay overall though
I have the non-hello kitty version of that fisheye!
i have the brown and cream one too, so now i have 2 it was my second camera

Tested it by focusing on a window screen, same sharpness throughout. I bent the focus ring back. It's about back to 90% of the smoothness it was, a little WD40 helped too. It was shitty though, I got back to work today and they were like "yeah one leg on that tripod doesn't latch that well" WELL THANKS
NEVER USE WD40 FOR PHOTO EQUIPMENT.
Why not? I researched and found it it was okay on certain parts....
It seems to work fine with tripods
It seems to work fine with tripods
Tripods are not the same as a lens or a camera which is precision equipment. WD40 is a solvent to loosen up things that rusted shut or something. It's not meant as any sort of lubrication because it's not a permanent lubricator.
Any idea what the problem is with this roll I just got developed? I'm guessing me opening the door a couple times caused the red haze but am unsure about the weirdly lined shots.

The banding may come from the lab trying to recover shadows in underexposed shots.
Why the hell did you open the cover? The banding may come from the lab trying to recover shadows in underexposed shots.
Had some problems winding the reel. Was just a test roll so everything's fine! Just wondering if it was a camera issue, a user issue or a lab issue. But it looks like it's a bit of both?
A friend has this old 18-55 canon and the zoom ring isn't very smooth, should he open the lens and apply what lubricant?
Zoom rings I don't think are lubricated, something might be physically blockin it.
