So I recently got my hands on the new sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 on a 60D and oh my god I need to get this amazing lens. Solid build quality, I love how smooth the Rings are.
someone in my halls has got it i really need to test it
My Nikon D80 showed an "Err" on the display when I was going to use it yesterday and I haven't been able to fix it :( AF doesn't work and it doesn't save any images. The shutter and mirror moves properly. I've tried a hard reset of the software and some other things but as I said, I haven't fixed it. Anyone know of anything I can try?
someone in my halls has got it i really need to test it
Ask that person in an excited and somewhat jealous way and they will probably let you borrow the lens. That's how I borrowed it. Expect to maybe get turned down as it's like a brand new lens and you know how we are with new stuff.
i'll work somethin out guys
dont do anything stupid
Broke my 50mm 1.4 today, went out shooting and somehow dropped my camera. Landed right on the lens, body isn't damaged but the lens won't focus anymore. shitty
wait what, the whole focusing mechanism broke or just the autofocus?
wait what, the whole focusing mechanism broke or just the autofocus?
The focus mechanism I'm assuming, it still moves a little bit so it's working, it's like it is getting stuck.
Hm, apparently the total weight of the Canon EOS 6D with the 24-105L kit lens in lb is 3.14159lb... ...which is the first 5 decimal places of pi... ...I literally just calculated that. :v:
if anyone is looking for a 7D with a few lenses I know someone selling one and im sure he would let it go cheap
I know people always say "the camera body isn't that important" and "a better camera doesnt make you a better photographer" but I really want to upgrade to a D7100. I am just tired of being limited of when I can take pictures because the poor battery life on my D5200 and lack of weather sealing. Yeah, I would lose the flippy screen which is a pretty big selling point for me on the 5200 but I honestly feel like my camera is limiting my opportunities sometimes. [editline]29th October 2013[/editline] also i figure I could save some money with the D7100 down the road since I don't have to buy the absolute newest AF-S lenses if I want autofocus
how is the weather sealing stopping you?
got a 7D and a 17-80, 15 fisheye and 100 f2 along with a mamiya 645 with an 80 2.8 for a little jaunt to sheffield to see mah bro, exciteeeed
how is the weather sealing stopping you?
go walk outside to take some pictures and then it starts to rain, or im shooting somewhere where its windy and dusty (more often than you might think)
how many times must this be said: a camera is just a tool - treat it as such. I used to take my lumix g2 for walks in the snow and rain, took it to a derelict chocolate factory to shoot long exposures whilst it was windy as fuck blowing dust, sand and probably asbestos up at it
go walk outside to take some pictures and then it starts to rain, or im shooting somewhere where its windy and dusty (more often than you might think)
so what? it's hardly the end of the world. i've taken my 600D out in lashing rain and it is not weather sealed by any stretch of the imagination.
go walk outside to take some pictures and then it starts to rain, or im shooting somewhere where its windy and dusty (more often than you might think)
A weather sealed body won't do much good without weather sealed lenses
I've weather sealed my life. Now I don't go outside.
Weather sealing is for old men with flagship bodies to brag about as they take mediocre snapshots with their multithousand dollar cameras. [editline]29th October 2013[/editline] [Picture of a duck in the rain] "I wouldn't have been able to get this shot without weather sealing in my ~professional workhorse~ camera" [Dozens of dumb flickr group invites and awards in comments]
i have no idea how sensitive camera equipment is or anything and i usually have bad luck pushing the bounds of my electronics but ill just go with your sarcastic remarks and keep my 5200 for now
Here's something that should give you a general idea.
He gets dumbs for being careful with his non-weather sealed electronics. What is wrong with people. "Oh hurr durr you shouldn't care about the camera only the pictures" Yeah no, some people don't have the money to keep replacing shit.
He gets dumbs for being careful with his non-weather sealed electronics. What is wrong with people. "Oh hurr durr you shouldn't care about the camera only the pictures" Yeah no, some people don't have the money to keep replacing shit.
I think the sentiment was that cameras are more durable than given credit for, and shouldn't be treated like they can't take any abuse. And apparently some people have the money to buy a $1000+ camera body for that feature and more battery (pretty sure they use the same size battery anyway). The d7100 is a great camera (and so is the d5200), but weather sealing is not at all the reason you should be getting it. I say this as someone who owns a weather sealed camera. But the ability to use Nikon D lenses is good, you could pick up some good stuff for cheaper, but G will generally be better and definitely a better investment of the money because they will be more future proofed. If you aren't buying a Pentax (most all are good), Leica S, or an Olympus E-5 you aren't getting a great weather sealed camera anyway, and really like Roll said the seals are more for show than much practicality. They are better, but not drastically different.
