I'm guessing it's the Nikon 35mm 1.8 you're looking at?
Mirrorless have just as good image quality as DSLR's, and you can use any lens ever via adapters. Then you have better size, modularity, and the live view features are so much better. I love my Nex and I'm very set on getting an a7, I wouldn't pick any other camera instead regardless of price. Mirrorless cameras are excellent, I wouldn't pick a DSLR camera over them
Been considering ditching everything for the a7r, but I think I'll give it some time and see what other companies do in the next year or so though. Really starting to feel the need for something small.
Why did you buy that maaassive 1D then? :v:

It feels better and there's more buttons to press.
Why did you buy that maaassive 1D then? :v:
Size didn't really matter to me when I got it, but now my shooting interest has changed, and the attention that body attracts (and other DSLR's for that matter) makes it much harder. Twists huh.
I'm guessing it's the Nikon 35mm 1.8 you're looking at?
yup. originally i was thinking about the sigma 30mm 1.4 but it isnt worth 2x as much as the nikon 1.8 judging by the images

The new Sigma 30mm 1.4 "art" lens is a big step up from its predecessor.
im guessing that when a DSLR has the battery in it slowly drains it, seeing as how when the camera is off but the battery is in the viewfinder is really bright, then when I pull it out the viewfinder gets kinda dim and grainy and shit [editline]16th November 2013[/editline] also this sigma im talking about.
I know the feeling. People feel under pressure and unnaturally try to pose when they see a massive camera. [editline]16th November 2013[/editline]
But muh professional body It's a lot easier to capture candid moments with a phone and mirror less camera though.
mirrorless would be great they weren't so damn expensive and there were more full frame non-rangefinder options. hopefully sony gets that all changed. this is a total tangent but i really admire sony. i've always loved my ps3, they made the best tv i've ever owned, the hand-me-down sony studio speakers i got from my dad are excellent, and all their cameras are sexy.
Been considering ditching everything for the a7r, but I think I'll give it some time and see what other companies do in the next year or so though. Really starting to feel the need for something small.
I've been looking into the a7r for you, and I think it's something you'd like. That and a used Leica 35mm 1.4 ASPH would be cheaper than your current setup actually haha. Looks to have great detail from the 36mp, and noise performance looks excellent too (downsampled to 18mp and it would be even better). Battery life would be a whole different world though, it has a small battery and probably gets like 300 shots max with a full battery. The tests I've seen have said 35mm and higher rangefinder lenses will work great but I haven't seen any specific tests with the Leica ASPH (I expect it to be better though because it has a less symmetrical design). The way the market has been panning out I would suspect Fuji to offer the first counter, but there will not be another FF mirrorless for at least another year. Sony will have more models out before anyone else does (they have a patent for an FF sensor in a nex 5 body). Olympus and Panasonic don't have the resources, Samsung would need to restructure their mount, Fuji would might need a different mount too, Pentax hasn't made an FF camera yet lol, then Nikon and Canon don't want to hurt their DSLR sales, especially Canon. Sony has the small FF market cornered, as they have since they did the RX1 last year which still has no direct competition (x100 is similar but different in purpose) When you come out here you can mess with my nex and see how it suits you if at all, I won't be able to afford the a7 (not the r) for a few months but its something I will try and buy ASAP, just need to get a job post college and I should be set. This site has a lot of good image samples from the a7r with adapted lenses. Definitely has me excited to use my FD glass http://pantip.com/topic/31228622
i think people feel a lot more under pressure depending on how you act, and to an extent, how you dress (until a point). lugging around a massive camera for close street photography stuff where you're going to be snapping unsuspecting people is a pretty bad idea regardless. a lot of people will jump to the conclusion that you're taking photographs for a newspaper or televised report and will be quick to hop out of the way or tell you off
I've been mistake as paparazzi, so LAme [editline]16th November 2013[/editline]
helpful
Wow thanks mang. Good info.
Yeah there's major rumours of a full frame Fuji X series camera. The benefit of this is you can also use Leica lenses on them and Fujinon's own 35mm f/1.4 surpasses the quality of the Leica equivalent. I'm guessing something like an X Pro 1 will come out with a FF sensor, using the X Pro 1 as experience to see how they need to change the hybrid viewfinder among other things (X Pro 1 had some minor issues like the digital frame lines in the OVF didn't show 100% of the frame when zooming with zoom lens, it was something like 95%).
leica would die
When Leica gets competition for the FF compact digital market, they'll realise people aren't so willing any more to pay up for just for the logo on the camera. I think what saved them from that massive dip in 2009/2010 was when they started putting their brand name onto point and shoot lenses and phone lenses.
People buy Leica Ms because they like the rangefinder focusing. Even with cheap FF mirrorless I am not seeing Leica die.
The focusing effect can be replicated with a hybrid viewfinder, and more on top of that, like focus peaking.
I wish they made a digital camera that you could change the whole viewfinder, like old pro film slrs. Waist level digital sounds awesome
RZ67 with prohibitively expensive digital back.
RZ67 with prohibitively expensive digital back.
Using the RZ67 handheld is better than going to the gym.
Got this behemoth up and running again (sorry for the shit picture) My first slr, given to me by my grampa. The Nikon N4004s. The battery compartment had been acid corroded for years, but I cleaned it out and it whirred back to life. Every aspect of it is auto, but aperture, focus and shutter speed has manual options. I'm looking at lenses for Nikon film AF and they're still expensive as hell. [editline]16th November 2013[/editline]
RZ67 with prohibitively expensive digital back.
And could be yours today for the same price as a new Dodge Charger.

just bought a reverse lens adapter macro thing since I really liked taking pics using reverse lens method but it was annoying trying to hold the lens in place [editline]16th November 2013[/editline] will it work well with the 35mm 1.8? [editline]16th November 2013[/editline] is any of that other stuff like attaching multiple lenses to each other reverse or the extension tubes worth it?
it should work fine, but any sort of reverse lens method won't be better than an actual macro lens. it's fun to mess around with, but isn't really for serious work
Also extension tubes with AF are great. So many hours spent on the hillside taking dumb pictures of bugs and plants.
I'd reckon those hours were spent well. Bugs and plants aren't dumb things to photograph, that has a major place in art and science.
If bees are any example, some of the simplest lives bold great consequence.
