I only shoot film apart from digi-only uni briefs [editline]21st November 2013[/editline] which is so odd because my film venture started out as just something that might be a bit of a laugh
Aw Yeah
are you buying 2?
Maybe it's the kit lens package
I found a Zeiss G 45mm f2 lens I think I am going to buy in prep for the a7, I just hope the guy holds onto it long enough for me to buy
are you buying 2?
One is the body, which is for me including free extended warranty, the other one with the kitlens is for a friend of mine. Got a great deal on these, I love student discounts.
This looks promising. http://nofilmschool.com/2013/10/panasonic-gh4-4k-30fps-price-cost-rumor-canon-cinema/
3G-SDI and XLR adaptor (An adaptor that the camera sits on with XLR x2, HD-SDI x4) oh fuck yes
Although it's a rumour, I kinda thing they will make something like this but not under the GH-naming scheme.
they will make something like it, but i really doubt these specs will be wholly accurate (43 rumors kind of stretches them a bit, they said the em-1 would have 12fps and a 4mp viewfinder). it will be pretty similar overall though and i expect most of the video specs to be true since panasonic is a big player in the video market probably going to go into an AG-AF100 like body first, but they could easily put it in a GH body (the rumored name is GH4K iirc) if they wanted to
Was the GH4 supposed to be in a DSLR body?
pretty similar yeah, the gh3 was bigger than the gh2 so probably something similar
I was talking to my buddies at Arc'teryx (expensive as fuck outdoor clothing company for those who don't know), and I found it cool that they filmed one of their early 2014 ads on top of a mountain using helicopters and shit with a GH3
The promo videos better look awesome!
Can someone explain me to what the difference a 18-55 and a 18-135 lens is? I'm thinking about picking up a dslr and it comes with a kit lens and I have no idea what the second number means. I know the lower the mm is, the wider angle it is? I don't get why there are two numbers though?

Of course you're probably gonna get more barrel distortion with the 135mm. Although you can zoom in before the variable aperture kicks in. As in at 55mm on the 135mm, it's not at f/5.6 like the 55mm lens at 55mm. It's probably at f/4.5. Another difference is the size and feel of the lens. If you're looking at the Canon version, the 135mm has a larger focus ring which is super useful for video. There's probably internal focusing so the lenses front element won't move back and forth when you focus the lens compared to the 55mm lens. The 135mm one will be more expensive as it's more complex to design and build. It's heavier because there's more elements and/or heavier elements and parts to form the lens. If you were getting it as a kit lens package and you want to save money, the 18-55mm should be good enough, especially when you're starting off. I'd get the 18-135mm for the extra zoom and smoother and larger focus ring with internal focusing.
so i just noticed in the pharrell happy video at 6:44PM the streetlights in the background make the weirdest "sun stars". They are just straight lines that kinda fade out and dont even stay anywhere near center with the lights. anyone know how/why? [editline]23rd November 2013[/editline] ex; [t]http://puu.sh/5rjHS.png[/t]
It's most likely because of whatever lens they were using.
It means the lens is pro as fuck, don't even bother.
Anamorphic lens
There better be a behind the scenes for this.
i kinda scored today paid 12 bucks for a extremely clapped out OM-2n but the real score was the lens on it look at that bad boy. It has a little bit of fungus, and it has some worn out bits, but i think i have much more than $12 worth of camera here.
Fungus sucks UV light it and keep it away from other lenses. How big is the cluster?
small spots everywhere
so just regarding DX crop factors, when you put a 50mm FX lens on a DX camera, the focal length is still 50mm (not 75 as people like to say), but the FOV is just narrower?
The equivalent is 75mm but it's still a cropped part of the 50mm lens.
but the subject doesnt appear any bigger, right?
but the subject doesnt appear any bigger, right?
It will appear bigger on the crop camera because you're cropping into a 50mm image as if it was on full frame. The equivalent of that crop would be 75mm. The subject will seem larger because of the crop.
Narrower FOV = bigger subjects
Has anyone used the Fuji X100 or X100s? In my last post I said I was looking at the D600/D610 but, one significant reason I stopped taking my cameras out was bulk of my gear and the awkward camera bag to protect it. I don't want to build up a set of gear again, a lighter camera with superb IQ and rangefinder I think would suit me really well.
