manual says nothing about changing between 51, 21, 11, 9, etc. point. i know about the af-a, af-c, and af-s switch. no it didn't take me 2 hours to realize the wheel did stuff, it took me 2 hours to remember there was a second wheel because I was so caught up in the other new stuff [sp]please forgive me[/sp]
The soft button is really common and stops camera shake from the actual button press if you press it lightly. You change the AF points by pressing the the focusing mode button then spinning one of the wheels until the mode you want is selected then use the d pad to select which individual point you want. Then you read the fucking manual. [editline]28th December 2013[/editline] Seriously it 2 hours to notice the wheel that changes aperture?
Maybe he wasn't on manual
I wasn't angry or anything, just thought it was kind of funny. It's one of the main controls even if you're not in manual.
No ones gonna care if you're on auto :v:
kinda pissed about the battery issue since Nikon phone lines are closed till monday and the retailer I got from is closed today
kinda pissed about the battery issue since Nikon phone lines are closed till monday and the retailer I got from is closed today
You should probably buy a second battery anyways because at some point you're going to need it. So just buy one now and get it on monday or go to the store, then deal with customer support and be able to use your camera as well instead of having to wait a week or two for a replacement to come in. I've got three batteries for my 60D and I've ran through all of them in one day and had to use AA's in my battery grip to finish the day.
Just paid £14 for 2 batteries for my SLR
on the bright side a battery for me d7100 is the same price as a d5200 battery which lasted half as long the down side is its still $50 because D7100 has the new nikon 3rd party battery blocking update [editline]28th December 2013[/editline] although there may be a firmware hack that allows 3rd party batteries but I dont wanna try anything yet.
oh wow 5d2 batteries are £6 each shipped
Just paid £14 for 2 batteries for my SLR
retail store or web shop? I bought 4 2CR5 for 15 euro at a web shop, paid 10 euro at a retail store for 1 which I then returned for a roll of BnW film.
oh wow 5d2 batteries are £6 each shipped
I once went to a local camera store to buy a new battery for my DSLR and when they told me it's 100€ I moonwalked out of there and got a 3rd party one for like 5€.
figured out the focus point thing. i had to switch to AF-C and then use the front command dial to choose how many points i want. still not used to that front dial being there

Having some issues with my post right now so trying to avoid ordering online until they sort it out.
this might be worse than I thought, instead of the battery not charging it just doesnt know when it is charged. the camera says the battery has been at 1% for like 30 minutes as I am leaving the camera on to try and kill it to recharge it and its not dying.
shoot video, depletes the battery faster

okay yeah I think 6 minutes of 1080p/30fps video would kill a battery at 1% on the bright side if they send me a new battery and dont make me return this one then I guess i kinda have 2 batteries

It's such a shame because there aren't that much shops that not only supply at a fair price but have proper service as well.

Never breaking eye contact with the store owner as I moonwalk out.

We'd still go there, just not for UV filters. LP-E6 has been on sale for $59 since early summer.
do y'all think you should put a clear filter over all your lenses to keep the front element safe like some people do? i usually just keep my hood on all the time [editline]28th December 2013[/editline] also, since now I have a 7100 i can buy some glass, but im not sure if I should get accessories like a new strap/tripod/etc. before a lens.
depends on where and what lens i'm using
I tend to use lens hoods, lens caps and clear filters. I don't have the money to break my lenses :v:
save for a good tripod, it's worth it
i think I may be SOL on the battery issue. Nikon warranties do not cover batteries or accessories that come with the cameras and the retailer says they dont accept returns/exchanges for batteries, but im not sure if the retailer policy changes if its a battery that came with something else on the bright side I know it works, it just doesn't know how charged it is according to the camera
it could be a camera fault, ask them to try it with another battery
like i said before, i didnt buy it in person. the store isnt close enough for me to justify driving there. also im pretty sure in the battery because I can plug it into the charger and it will say its full, then remove it and plug it in again and it says its charging [sp]i also cant drive yet[/sp]

Just saying.
