idk about you but I usually have trouble finding newly released expensive camera stuff on ebay for any lower than retail.
[editline]29th December 2013[/editline]
bidding usually doesnt work because ebayers bid it up to within a few bucks of normal price or above retail price

digitalrev has some items a bit below bh/adorama but its nothing that significant unless its 3rd party lenses
thank u for keeping us posted on the situation.
woops, i didnt realize I was posting so much about it until i look back at it now. my apologies
ebay doesn't have sales tax, so even if the item is full priced it ends up being significantly cheaper. especially for a $1700 camera
unless im forgetting something neither do websites that arent based in your state?
[editline]29th December 2013[/editline]
ie i live in NY and bought my 7100 from a store in NJ so there was no tax
depends on local law. many states do have sales tax on websites, but as far as i know ebay does not have any taxes in any state.
fuckin cali 9% tax
if you dont sell that 35 1.8g on CL i might be able to fund $150 of that a7

but it would have import tax if it's from a different country than the one you're in now.
You could also try craigslist or something

import tax depends on the country doesn't it
import tax depends on the country doesn't it
Yes it does. Often the seller will charge the import tax on top of it so there shouldn't be any issues when crossing the border.
any recommendations on good neck straps for mirrorless cameras? the fuji one is rather uncomfy when it digs into the skin. I used a blackrapid for my D7000 but its too much for street.
what's your size preference?
Like thickness, wideness, material, softness, etc.
what exactly is bracketing, I dont remember seeing a setting/button for that on my 5200
lol 9% tax, try 20%
ON EVERYTHING.

Upper income tax bracket is 40% so it's ok.

eBay doesn't have import tax in America (pretty sure), I order stuff from Hong Kong all the time and I've never paid it. If I have, it's been factored into the price and it wasn't any more expensive than it was here overall.
what's your size preference?

good wideness, don't mind material but it should be comfortable to carry so very soft, ideally secure but I could live without that.
what exactly is bracketing, I dont remember seeing a setting/button for that on my 5200
Taking multiple shots each with different settings one after the other automatically.
For HDR or if you don't quite know the right setting to be using and need to be ready to capture a fleeting moment.

what do you guys think about these kinds of items?
looks kinda neat for $40 but all of the stuff it does could easily be done in post processing
[editline]29th December 2013[/editline]
ew its 75mm but they sell different focal lengths on the lomography website
Avoid.
lo-fi look... of a medium format film? what?
Why buy a camera body when you can buy this!

It's all good man. While it doesn't personally bother me, this isn't a tech support forum. It seems that most of the stuff you're asking about in this thread can be easily answered with google, calling the manufacturer, or even simply reading the manuals. Granted, this is the gear discussion, but I think you don't need to use this thread for every little thing that comes up.
I'm not telling you to fuck off (got open arms for you here) but some self-sufficiency will go a very long way if you wish to take up photography.

That ^ is a great post for this thread, but this on the other hand;
what exactly is bracketing, I dont remember seeing a setting/button for that on my 5200
is something you could find the answer to in 5 seconds with google.
So when getting UV filters, $20 Hoya ones should be fine?
I wouldn't use cheap ones unless you are going somewhere really dirty, they flare and ghost, can lower sharpness, and even make your AF inaccurate (happened to me, not sure how common). They are worth investing if you have a good lens, cheap lens in most scenarios I wouldn't really use. Only time I use one is in the desert because of dust and dirt.
Price is a big factor, Hoya makes great filters but their cheap ones are very cheap and pretty awful
what about NC filters for lens protection? nikon ones are like $30-$40
I recommend them. They flare more than multicoated UV filters, but they clean more easily, and they let in UV light which is very good for lenses because it kills bacteria. If you are in dirty situations they are preferable because of the ease of cleaning, but into the sun and indoor work would be worse because of flaring
[editline]29th December 2013[/editline]
Oh it seems as if the Nikon's are multicoated, so they wouldn't flare any more than MC UV filters. I would take them over UV because of the bacteria thing
Multicoated filters block flare better, but single coated filters are easier to clean. Single coated for dirty conditions and multi coated for backlight or indoor.
