but RAW is for ~loser~ ~$~nerdes~$~ anyway
What? Do you feel that 50mm on full frame cameras are useless as well? Also I don't think 35mm really gets much lens distortion, it's not that wide, though it'll certainly get more than a 50mm. I guess it's your opinion, but I have to disagree in that it's useless
I don't see the point in slapping a 35mm prime on a crop sensor, either a wider angle or a zoom between 18-24mm suits me better on the crop sensor. As for the 50mm on a full frame, it's ballin' because for me it's the best all purpose focal length on a FF. Plus on FF you get the true wide apperture bokeh which just looks a heck lot better than crop sensor bokeh. 35mm by it self is a great focal length for indoor portraiture, just not on a crop camera IMO
20mm on the wide for a superzoom is fucking impressive
Except I just realized how many up close people shots will be taken with it :( When people use these cameras I never see them take photos of people with anything but the widest end standing close
Except I just realized how many up close people shots will be taken with it :( When people use these cameras I never see them take photos of people with anything but the widest end standing close
Most rookies using a zoom lens will end up using both ends only so either super wide angle or tele.

so what about a 24mm lens since that is basically a 35mm on my crop factor the sigma seems kinda junky old sigma stuff, the nikon 24mm f/1.4g is $2600+ so lolno, so the nikon 24mm f/2.8d is my only option but at 2.8 its only one stop faster than my kit lens @ 24mm. I figure I could get the 2.8 and 50 1.8d in my budget but I am not really sure. I think I will need the 50mm for my next semester digital photo class

The most decent fast options are the Samyang 24mm 1.4 (I have one, very good lens but all manual and likely not as good as a 35mm f2 lens on FF due to the design), and the Sigma 24mm 1.8 which I've read is not very good at all. Fast 35mm lenses are pretty much reserved to the 35mm FF format, and so are 24mm equivalent lenses (of which there are basically none for APS-C).

i was watching some youtube video for the f/2.8 but below the part where it "rates" the AF speed it says like "must remain in bag for 20 minutes before shooting to absorb temperature changes" [editline]9th January 2014[/editline] my main concern is getting wide and getting a fast aperture for not a lot of money which is making things complicated I mean my room I would say is mediocrely lit but even pointing my kit lens at f/4 at the main light in my room on the wall @ iso 800 only gives me 1/60th a second and thats pointing right at a light 6 or 7 feet away [editline]9th January 2014[/editline] which is why I am leaning to the sigma 30mm f/1.4 even though it isnt that wide it has the fastest aperture of anything I have looked at
my main concern is getting wide and getting a fast aperture for not a lot of money which is making things complicated
these concepts do not go together. fast aperture glass is expensive, and fast wide glass is even moreso. realistically the difference between 30mm and 35mm is extremely small and they are pretty much interchangeable for almost all scenarios.
yeah, I also figure that 2/3 a stop and 5mm isnt worth more than 2x the price when I can spend the extra money on another lens or a flash which is probably what I am going to do if I dont need a 50 for school
Shoots jpg only.
Where does it say that?
Where does it say that?
Some QUOTE about not needing to shoot raw because it's useless and stuff
fuck everything im buying a 24mm f/2.8d and if it sucks so much then I will just resell it at what I bought for (trying to get one used for like low-mid 200s) or return it but I doubt it will be that bad. once im there I guess I can think about what I want to do with the rest since ill have like $150 left, maybe a 35mm f/1.8 or 50mm f/1.8 not sure yet. [editline]10th January 2014[/editline] getting more into the mindset of not freaking out about lens specs and shit and just shooting [editline]10th January 2014[/editline] saw a 24mm for $255 shipped, offered $245. godspeed
i think i shoot better with prime lenses i dont know why, im not really gonna question it the kit is amazing for video, with its Steadyshot™ technology, but i'm glad that md to e adapter is on its way
Where does it say that?
http://www.whatdigitalcamera.com/news/541888/samsung-wb2200f-bridge-compact-boasts-60x-zoom.html "The WB2200F's ISO range runs from 80-6400 and it shoots in the JPEG format only."
That's too bad really, it seems like a good superzoom if it wasn't for that. My old 6 megapixel superzoom could shoot RAW lol.
halp! I just took a picture with my OM-20 when I got off the bus this morning but now the shutter release is 'jammed'. The shutter did a proper exposure and the mirror is all the way down but I can't advance to the next frame and I'm able to push the shutter release all the way down without anything happening. Of course I've tried google but most people say it's an age thing etc. etc. I'm sure there's a way to fix this but I can't find any DIY, anyone here happen to have some experience or should I contact Olympus?? I'm glad my OM-10 works a charm but I don't want to give up this OM-20 because the manual shutter speed ring is a gift of the photography gods
Is the battery working? That could be locking up the shutter
I've checked that of course, they're working just fine. As I said it's the shutter button. I can press it all the way down but it's not exposing anything (because it already did) but I can't wind to the next frame. I've tried removing batteries and putting them back in. Switching modes (bulb/auto/manual/self timer), switching apperture on the lens. But nothing works. Also the mirror is NOT stuck I can flip it up and the shutter curtain is closed. I'm pretty damn sure it's got to do with the shutter button and winding mechanism inside, I just have no clue where to look for when I open up the body. [editline]10th January 2014[/editline] aaahhhh sweet, asked one of the photography teachers if they kow a bit more about this problem, one of my teachers handed down a Ricoh KR-10 super with 50mm f/2 lens. It was gonna end up as a display item but I'll make sure to make good use of it.
Is the battery working? That could be locking up the shutter
My OM-10 locked up because it ran out of battery - it's had a half roll in there for a few weeks now at least.
Oh man oh man oh man, I just discovered that my 28mm f/2.8 mini-wide Sigma with a Pentax-K mount works just fine on the Ricoh-K mount. Helloooo wide angle full frame!!
My OM-10 locked up because it ran out of battery - it's had a half roll in there for a few weeks now at least.
If you are too poor for a new pair of batteries give me an address I have too much of them.
What do you guys think of speed boosters? Looking at the nikon to MFT one... negating the crop a little and giving more light sounds great.
i get my batteries from poundlandd yo
poundland is a photographers best friend
