I want one, but I dont need one
-snip-
Okay I've found a solution for any swedes that have a hard time getting a hand on one of these things. Microkit.se is a reseller of farnell, unfortunately the batch has run out, but the next deliver will come next month (30 days according to their site)
these electronics stores are pretty weird.
Gonna get one and try to run a MAME off it. Should be pretty sweet.
I doubt anyone can solder fine-pitched BGA
It is doable with the correct tools. Additionally, provided they can be made or are available, a QFP package type could be used in the unlikely event they wanted to make a kit. Or the chip could be presoldered to the board. It is only a dream. I'm not in any way saying the average human could get a board made and do this. (With a bit of practice you probably could if it was a QFP) I am merely saying a kit would be awesome. As it stands right now, if you had the tools and technique to do a BGA and the SMD components you could go get the board files, get it manufactured and make your own, Not impossible. In any case I wan't arguing your point in the misconceptions, I just think a kit would pretty neat idea. It would definitely be one for the more experienced electronics enthusiasts, however.
I woke up 1 hour earlier just to get it. Didnt even manage to load either of the store's pages. Fucking terrible. Aparently next batch might ship next month. Also, Farnel doesn't even ship to fucking Belgium, but does to Slovakia and Czech Rep. What the fuck is up with that? Good thing I have family in SVK. Total failure. They picked the worst possible stores/sites that they could.
Hey, think of it this way. Now that they know its in high demand, they will hopefully bring it to other stores too.
It was supposed to be manufactured in DECEMBER.

This morning = FAIL What do I do now an where do I preorder? Do I just register interest on both sites or what?
This morning = FAIL What do I do now an where do I preorder? Also those fuckers don't accept paypal and its made for COMPANIES NOT regular people.
So no, I was not fucking my teacher.
But, would you want to fuck the teacher? We must know this!
Damnit damnit damnit Just give me a simple fucking website with descent fucking bandwidth that ships to normal fucking consumers in the United fucking States with a useable fucking paypal option. Wouldn't that just make sense?
Paypal isn't a great payment method either. You're probably safer doing it through your bank.
Well I "purchased" one on Newark but it's probably a preorder for the next batch in late march. What an embarrassment of a launch.
am i missing something what was bad about the launch
am i missing something what was bad about the launch
One retailer went down and the other didn't even know they were selling the thing.
I was about to buy one but then I realized I have no clue what I'd actually do with it.
I was about to buy one but then I realized I have no clue what I'd actually do with it.
An extremely impractical mobile internet broser.
An extremely impractical mobile internet broser.
The web BROSER. FOR BRO'S ONLY
I wonder how long I'm going to have to wait to actually get one of these things. I say June.
These things are getting a lot of news coverage. Even my mum knew about them.
Looks like the estimated delivery now is "16/04/2012". The wait begins.
Looks like the estimated delivery now is "16/04/2012". The wait begins.
I read that as the fourth day of the sixteenth month. DD/MM/YYYY makes much more sense, but I'm too used to what we use in the US
how the hell are people ordering PLEASE HELP
how the hell are people ordering PLEASE HELP
Time travel
Sigh, 23/04/2012. The wait begins.
Well I "purchased" one on Newark but it's probably a preorder for the next batch in late march. What an embarrassment of a launch.
Ditto, but I know for sure mine was a preorder, said there weren't any in stock. Still happy to have sent the order off though, at least I know I'll be getting a piece of the Pi. :v: [editline]29th February 2012[/editline]
how the hell are people ordering PLEASE HELP
Go to Newark.com, make sure it's your region (via the upper-right panel in the corner), then on the right there should be a "quick buy" pane, enter the RasPi's part number -> "83T1943". I think they also have an ad up now, but that's how I did it. Uh, you'll have to register an account as well, I think.
