So what happened to RS components, will they ever sell them? Thought I'd wait till they let people order but it still leads to the voice your interest page..
Est. Arrival date: 30.4
Im fucked, but I cant cancel either. Id expect the factories to work much fucking faster -.-
I must be retarded, because for the life of me I can't figure out where to order. Both sites just say "Register your interest"

As stupid as it sounds, they could have a preorder cap.

Always put www. before raspberrypi.org...
Considering the heat given off, is that Broadcom chip a Flatpack package or what?
I need to determine a coresponding heat sink
I don't think it gives off enough heat to need anything other than the die surface. If you do though, a lot of VRMs have appropriately sized heat sinks on them that you can pull off old motherboards. :v:

Or look around online for mosfet heatsinks.
Just got a mail from RS Components, they're going to let people that registered their interest earlier order first (within 7 days)
im gonna throw on a ramsink just because, maybe do some leet pi overclocking
im gonna throw on a ramsink just because, maybe do some leet pi overclocking
yeah that's exactly what I was thinking
I wonder if it's possible? I'd love to have a 1000MHz RasPi. :v:
I don't know how big the chip is but you could try using ram heat sinks. They are very tiny(size of a thumb nail about) and could probably keep it cool.
The RAM is on top of the CPU. Since RAM isn't a great conductor of heat, adding a heatsink on top of the whole thing wouldn't help very much. If you're overclocking, I can't imagine the CPU getting hot enough to cause problems. People overclock smartphones all the time and the only problems they run into are battery consumption and stability.
Just went to order one from Farnell and they wont accept my Maestro card.

1Ghz is likely very easy, you can easily double a phones clock rate most of the time, which use ARM processors. I assume it should be pretty easy on the RPi, too.
Sweet, I think I'll give that a try after I'm done doing all the other stuff I wanted to do. :v:
I ordered one from Newark (US Farnell dealer) last night. It said it would be shipped on April 3, but I got another email this morning and now it says it won't ship until May 14.
Whatever, I'll wait.
I still havn't received any emails on when mine will ship? :|
[editline]3rd March 2012[/editline]
nevermind, it was in a PDF, says April 16th, seems like I got in ahead of most of you!
What the fuck why does the raspberry pi site say "You Are Banned." for me? I haven't done anything hell I don't even have an account for it.

try again www.raspberrypi.org
Ahh thank you.
Any retailers selling this to Australia?
Great, now I'm thinking of using this for a bartop MAME cabinet. I wonder how well that would work.

I doubt this will be emulating most arcade games very well, just use an mATX pc.
Now this I like.
What would the resulting mesh network do? I've personally had plans for nomadic air quality sensor networks before.
it would provide a communication means for the devices without the need of a centralised network device
I know what a mesh network is, I want to know what you'd do with it :v:
crime
I got an email from farnell and preordered it from there. Their site is so confusing.
I just my an email from Farnell as well.
It seems both companies are limiting sales to one per person, does that mean we can just order one from each company?
FUCK YEA

Where does one find their estimated delivery date from farnell?
