Most of them are either EQD or ebay

how do i select paypal as payment method for Newark and what is with this "Company Name" bullshit, who is the dumb cunt that decided they would only sell to corporations
Err, you don't have to have a corporation to order one of these. export.farnell.com, that's where I ordered mine from.
Pepper;35053647']Most of them are either EQD or ebay
Ever heard of bookmarks?
Canadians go to canada.newark.com
Just ordered some shit from Dealextreme for my Pi when it gets here. I've got a battery that charges via MiniUSB and it provides output through normal USB, so I can power my Raspberry on-the-go if I need to. Funny thing is, I'll get those faster than the Pi, even though DX's shipping is pure shit.

Anyone else got their delivery date yet? I'm getting mine this week coming apparently.
You coudl've gotten them cheaper if you looked elsewhere like eBay
Probably, but I don't trust eBay.
Anyone else got their delivery date yet? I'm getting mine this week coming apparently.
How the hell.. [editline]11th March 2012[/editline] In the order history, it says Processing as status, but when I go into the order, it says Back order. Decide damn it.

I'm still expecting the same date as what the email said that I got, 23rd of April.
I'm still expecting the same date as what the email said that I got, 23rd of April.
26th March for me
Mine hasn't changed, has no date on it or anything, are any of you seeing a date anywhere on the order page? All I've received that has a date on it is an "URGENT!!!!!" email.
30th of April for me. [editline]11th March 2012[/editline]
Mine hasn't changed, has no date on it or anything, are any of you seeing a date anywhere on the order page?
04/03/2012 13:11
Ahh might explain that, I was hammering the F5 button the morning it was out
Date of order: 08:38:50 29/02/2012 Damn site was down for so long on launch, couldn't order earlier. I was hammering F5 at school.
30th of April for me.
My birthday. :)
I checked last night and it said April 2nd. I ordered March 2nd.
Element14 is saying they'll have first reworked boards delivered next week. http://www.element14.com/community/docs/DOC-43262/l/updated-11-march-frequently-asked-questions-about-raspberry-pi I have to say, that's a big promise.
Again, you sacrifice quality. Chinese clone quality has not really improved in the last few years. I have an iPod Touch clone (as well as a real one), and the clone was bought at a later time than my original. You just can't compare.
All of Apple's products are manufactured in China. Any 'knockoff' that somebody might make of this is going to have the same components, especially when you have a product like this, where it's just a populated PCB, and the software is freely available. The only downsides you'll encounter might be: *lead solder (which is actually more reliable) *cheap connectors *(maybe) inferior circuit design And I wouldn't call it a knockoff, the Pi is open hardware, isn't it?
But its the actual embedded core that is the real kicker right? You can't knock off that Broadcom chip. For the arduino's, yeah you could, because AVRs are readily available.
Knockoffs tend to use a different chip, for example an iPod Touch knockoff might use some piece of shit ARMv5, basically looking identical but only cosmetically, not in terms of functionality. That's not really a clone, since it won't run the same software. When it comes to the Raspberry Pi, clones probably won't surface, since the SoC used in the Pi is a Broadcom-specific part, and they'll only sell you it if you commit to a huge order with them. The Raspberry Pi foundation managed to secure orders in lower quantities, and are charity, so it'd be difficult to undercut them and still be profitable anyway.
it's not unlikely that we'll see some other chip put in clones though, but I'm sure it would be more like a ybox in both price and performance than a raspberry pi

it would have the same concept and probably a pretty similar case once rpi foundation gets that sorted out
