How would you feel if you wanted just one but you can't because some ass bought 80 of them?
yeah i understand the reasoning i'm still a bit disappointed though
hopefully after the first batch they get steady production going so we can buy as much as we want, so many possibilities
you don't really need Android itself, just Dalvik and some other shit
Actually, I'm pretty sure the Android app uses some sort of DRM system that is built in to the newer processors. And as such, won't run on older Androids. Whether or not the Rasperry Pi supports this is up for grabs.

Being open source, I can only imagine that it wouldn't take more effort than usual to port Dalvik + dependencies to the RPi.
Anyone know what type of case would fit this pretty well?
Get a fucking metal attache case, put on a suit and pair of Agent Smith glasses, and walk around like a badass.
Anyone know what type of case would fit this pretty well?
you'll have to create your own, it doesn't use a standardized size as far as i'm aware
they said they'll be producing cases for the models later in production, not in the first batch though
Whats with the last thread getting randomly closed?
Anyways, if there was a port to android this would be great with apps and all.
Why was the other thread closed?
large threads are closed at the end of the month
Why was the other thread closed?
they close monthly if they've got too many posts
Get one of these, OLED screen, a solar panel and batteries, then mount it in a "pelican" case, and you have yourself a cheap, portable and super rugged computer.

That guy shot it with a fucking shotgun, how in the hell will I cut out a piece of plastic to do such a thing?
But those cases do look fucking bad ass.
Yes but can it run crysis?
Time to make a suitcase computer..
Suitcase? you could fit it in a fat wallet.
I can't fit a 20" monitor and my keyboard in my wallet, though. Not my back pocket either.
If you buy a small enough touch screen, you could make a bitchin' tablet.
If you buy a small enough touch screen, you could make a bitchin' tablet.
It would be pretty thick.
I can't fit a 20" monitor and my keyboard in my wallet, though. Not my back pocket either.
Buy a bigger wallet.
Also a bigger pocket.
In case anyone want to make a portable computer for around $100. Here's the items that you will need taken from the previous thread.

You forgot the SD card
You forgot the SD card
Oh come on, everyone has an SD or MicroSD card laying around.
You forgot the SD card
That varies on how big you want the sd card so I can't be bothered to link one up. For me I'm just gonna be using a 16gb one since it cheap and will fit all the things that I would need/use on a computer like this.
If I recall, Netflix uses silverlight to playback video, which I doubt exists in an ARM-compiled package. However, there are many different set-top boxes that do Netflix, like the WDTV Live+ and quite a few bluray players.
there is an older version of silverlight for linux, im sure when they really want to make it happen, they could somehow get it working.
most set-top boxes you can get in europe don't have a netflix decryption chip you'll need.

Doesn't have the DRM decryption part needed, or it's just too outdated to work.

Source please, though they probably have SOME kind of DRM, just not the same type as the desktop and smartphone apps.

But will the monitor fit the into the power supply without any adjustments? And another thing, how hard is it going to be in order to get the raspberry Pi to work with the USB controller.

According to the auction page the monitor is only 1440x272, so it probably doubles the vertical resolution (or the page is simply wrong)

It seemed wrong to me when I first read it, but it isn't a PC monitor, it's designed for a rear view mirror or such.

It's probably meant for wide-angle reverse cameras
