If you want something with a little more power, an enclosure, wifi and that comes with a working OS, you may want to take a look:

And let's not forget the FXI Cotton Candy, which is so conveniently mentioned in your source.
I did a search for Allwinner A10, which is the SoC for the $74 computer and found this page: http://rhombus-tech.net/allwinner_a10/
The mass-volume price of the chip is $7, though it has these features:
1.2ghz Cortex A8 ARM Core
MALI400MP OpenGL ES 2.0 GPU
DDR3 Controller 800MHz 1GB max
2160p Hardware-accelerated Video playback (4x the resolution of 1080p)
a NAND Flash Controller that is capable of 8-way concurrent DMA (8 NAND ICs)
4 SDIO interfaces (SD 3.0, UHI class)
USB 2.0 Host as well as a 2nd USB-OTG Interface (USB-OTG can be reconfigured as USB 2.0 Host, automatically)
24-pin RGB/TTL as well as simultaneous HDMI out
SATA-II 3gb/sec
10/100 Ethernet (MII compatible)
a 2nd 24-pin RGB/TTL interface that is multiplexed (shared) on the same pins for a standard IDE (PATA) interface.
GPIO, I2C, PWM, Keyboard Matrix (8x8), built-in Resistive Touchscreen Controller, and much more.
The GPU appears to be the same as the Galaxy S II, so that's nice. This chip on a Raspberry Pi board would be awesome, though any company that's not a charity may have a difficult time getting the price down to Raspberry Pi levels.
There's a getting started guide, overclocking guide, NAS box guide, media centre guide and programming guide in this months issue of Custom PC (UK). If anyone wants them, I can scan the pages for you.

Why not just do it for the hell of it?

Ahh fair enought, in that case I think we would all like a copy of these scans :)
So i've been looking around, mainly here http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeripherals#SD_cards, but i still have no idea which SD card to go with.
Any tips? i hear good things about SanDisk ultra class 4/6
I got a class 10, then read that list and didn't see it anywhere on there. Here's hoping :L

It's just a SD card, it doesn't matter which one you buy for something undemanding like the Rasberry Pi

Except that there's a whole list of unsupported SD cards because they simply do not work with the PI :/

[h=3]Problem SD Cards[/h]Sandisk 4GB SDHC Class 10 Extreme (30 MB/s HD Video) (Doesn't boot)
Fuck, that's the one I got...
Thought it was this one:
[h=3]Working SD Cards[/h]Sandisk 4GB SDHC Class 10 Extreme (BH10297143382G)
But apparently they're not the same. Gah..
Hmm it says that a Kingston 16GB SDHC Class 10 (SD10G2/16GB, ultimateX 100X) works.
I have a Kingston 32GB version and its not in the list, hope this works.
Also I tried loading my last 2 cards with the Fedora but It wont boot.
Anyone else having problems with the Fedora?

I didn't expect it to be shipped today, need to buy an SD...
Be sure to check the list of confirmed working SD cards first :v:

Mine was sent yesterday.
I'm building a Daft Punk helmet with a wrist controller for LEDs and fans and whatnot, and i'd like to integrate a RPi into the controller just for the effect of having a small computer-like device on my wrist. Do any of you guys have any ideas on small (3.5inchish) LED touchscreen or normal displays I can use for this?
If not a touchscreen, any ideas for a mouse that would be on the wrist panel, at least? Its all gonna end up looking like a pseudo PIPboy.

I'm flying over to San Francisco next week, if you're in the area and can meet up with me in SF/MTV do let me know, might be able to lend you one.
Depends if fellow Googlers snap them up first... :)
Those cases are so sexy, can I order one? :o

You can use this for the time being :P
My RPi is supposed to arrive this week to grandparents house, as they didn't ship to Belgium. Time to buy an SD card I suppose.
What size SD card is ideal if I want to use it for stuff? 16GB?
Also, class 10 should do right?

And 4-8GB should be fine, depending on what you want to do with it. I'm going to be using an external HDD so I've gone with a 4GB.

Sure: http://www.modmypi.com
Ordered, thanks for the link!
Just got my email off RS saying I can order now.
Don't have any money though so I'm probably gonna miss out.
I put my order in on Farnell release day and it still hasn't gone through. The hell :/

I left it a week after getting the email to order, the only thing was I think the shipping was longer as I missed my batch.

Apparently it'll be dispatched in 4 weeks. Does that mean they'll have like a 4 week period to get orders in before they dispatch one big batch?
If that's true I could possibly wait about 2-3 weeks then order if they still have some left.

From what I've heard you'll have to put in your details again before they ship, and your card will only be charged after that second time.
Yes! I can finally order one!

Can I use a micro SD with a micro SD to SD adapter with it?
Something like this:

There are reports of setups like that working; but I'd check their forums. The Pi is incredibly picky. A Sandisk Ultra is probably the way to go; runs Arch and Debian like a pro but hangs on Fedora, which another Sandisk runs a-ok. EDIT- I wouldn't use Class 2. Aim for 6 at the lowest.
Been playing with SSH-controlled GPIO on mine; good stuff, gonna be using it as oversight/interface for a project.
Double edit- Assume we've all seen this? http://www.raspberrypi.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/BCM2835-ARM-Peripherals.pdf
Contains all you need to get the fun stuff going with the RPi.
