There are lots of ways of rapping well that don't involve rapping really fast and then really slow. That's hardly a universal metric of ability.
how do you judge rapping skill, technicality, and quality? i've always wondered about the theory of rapping, as it's more like poetry than anything else
how do you judge rapping skill, technicality, and quality?
well it's usually quite subjective but compare:

They are both annoying. Eminem is good at rhyming, and he's occasionally witty, but he wastes it all bitching about his mother, daughter, ex-wife etc. I abstain. Courteously.

He has a style that's uniquely and unmistakeably his (which you might hate but many, many people enjoy) and although a lot of people are copying it lately you can always tell they're trying to sound like him. Plus he's just funny. If you're hating on his lyrics, I don't know, you either aren't listening to them very closely or are too uptight :colbert: "Mind so sharp I fuck around and cut my head off" roffle
If kids truly are influenced by the music they listen to, I dread to think what all those white middle class kids, who grew up listening to Eminem talk about pissing on women will turn out like.
Uh hi. [editline]24th December 2010[/editline]
I don't think rapping about murdering women for 10 years is funny. I think it's creepy. It's a long, long way from original.
Oh come on. Eminem is funny...Lil' who?
I would agree that Eminem is funnier, but that doesn't mean Lil Wayne doesn't have a sense of humor with his rap. "And I'm shittin on em' like 2 girls and 1 cup." Haha, I love the I Am Not A Human Being cd. I like his music better than Eminem's generally.
Em, Wayne raps slowly and awkwardly, his voice is too gravely. Eminem raps smoothly, has a sharp voice and is generally witty in his select slim shady songs.
I like them both equally, they each have their good points and bad points.
I still have the carter 2
I liked old eminem and his IM A FUCKING ASSHOLE, GET IT ALREADY attitude. It was funny. Also lyrical genius, in a weird way.
If I ever had to choose it'd be eminem
Eminem is better.
Eminem is clearly better. You could tell if you had ears. I don;t like rap much but Eminem is good I must say.
Your options are a person overrated for having 'omgsodeep' lyrics that dont talk about guns nd hoes, or you can have a cocksucker licking lollipops with autotune on, pretending to play guitar, and making fame for having 'Lil' in his name because Lil Jon was actually decent
I actually liked Eminem's Recovery album
Eminem over Lil'wayne. Lil wayne has some good stuff, but overall Eminem is better. Eminem is the rapper who got me into real rap. He has more poppy/less hardcore rap then most rappers, but his old stuff from Infinite and the Slim Shady LP was amazing, his last 3 albums have been pretty bad.

FUCK! Accidentally voted for Lil Wayne :saddowns: [editline]1st January 2011[/editline] Anyone who is educated in hip hop knows that Eminem is undoubtedly better. This is a no brainier. If they went head to head at all Eminem would decimate that dread head. The only thing Wayne has going for as far as actual talent is his delivery. Exhibit A: I don't think I need to even cover written stuff...
Yeah I just had to double check on wikipedia, but it definitely says that Wayne was active before Jon. Plus I can hardly see how you would say lil wayne is shit, yet lil Jon is good personally.
