by "it" I mean them thinking up another bullshit doomsday theory.
I thought it was all to do with Planet x (Nibiru - or home of the gods in ancient legends) coming close to Earth as there orbital paths cross. Because Nibirus orbit isn't on the same 'level' plain as the rest of the planets for some reason or another. Its got something like a 3600 year orbit, 2012 is meant to be 3600 years later since it last came close to earth. Legend says 'The Earth will be reshaped' or something similar. Scientifically its just a large gravitational force will be exerted on our planet for about 3 days (some have speculated it could even stop spinning for 3 days but i doubt that) and the magnetic fields would be 'reset'.
Whether the legend part about gods is true or not i don't know, they might have just worshiped the planet thinking it kept them alive, similar to the Aztecs sacrificing people and offering human hearts to the gods to keep the sun moving lol
As for Nibiru, its not like its going to hit us or anything, we would have known that by now. (and by we i mean governments and scientists etc...) So its not the end of anything at all... just possible little changes.
