Old Man Logan is pretty depressing to begin with and pretty much sets everyone except Wolverine to die.
no way they're gonna make it as bleak as the comic. i'll be impressed if they go the whole way and don't shoehorn in some mellow subplot or a less bittersweet ending
After Fant4stic, Marvel is likely to get the Fantastic Four back from Fox
Is there some evidence for that, or is it just an assumption because of what happened with Sony and Spiderman which is an entirely different contract, franchise and corporation for Marvel to deal with?
no way they're gonna make it as bleak as the comic. i'll be impressed if they go the whole way and don't shoehorn in some mellow subplot or a less bittersweet ending
Yeah, no way they'll commit that much, it'd be too depressing. Having said that, DC's current cinematic world is ridiculously bleak, but that's hardly a beacon of success.
I'm worried that they would ruin the [sp]glorious SNIKT moment at the end. Wouldn't surprise me if they were worried that there wasn't enough action without Wolverine killin' some dudes, missing the whole point of the comic, and what makes it so good[/sp]
Man I really wish MCU and Marvel would get the same treatment Star Wars is getting in terms of video games.
It feels like disney's marvel has no traditional modern games out at the moment besides the Disney Infinity sets. It's mostly f2p mobile and that diablo clone mmo.
Doesn't help that basically all of the previous marvel hits are dead in terms of availability. There's an entire punisher game that's impossible to get since 2011 and MUA2's DLC dropped out awhile ago (I hear there's a games on demand Xbox re-release with it included, but PS3 didn't get one).
Star Wars is getting touch ups and re-releases and new games and Marvels just getting disney infinity and diablo clone updates besides the mobile freemium games.
Disney Infinity's marvel content is actually really well done, its like a regular beat em up and most of the characters have the abilities and gameplay feel of their best licensed titles (Spider-man plays like the movie trilogy/Ultimate Spider-man comic games, for instance). (Also Ninja Theory developing the combat since 2.0 helps)
But the problem is that the exec producer at disney interactive has already stated distaste in allowing Daredevil, Punisher, Deadpool etc. in the game because he feels like he'd be responsible for a kid wanting to see the other things the characters are in. Personally I think it's silly because other kids marvel games have had these characters (Super Hero Squad even included them), and its really not his responsibility and its unfair to people who know about and want the characters.
Like, I can totally understand saying no to Deadpool because while you could push him into the Ultimate Spider-man version and get away with him his movie rights are owned by another studio you don't wish to promote. But Punisher and Daredevil do exist in the MCU and there's a likelihood they'll show up as at least a cameo or mention in a movie down the line, most likely Infinity War. I also think that the other characters have done not so kid friendly things, definitely have in the comics, but even the movies have traumatic and violent happenings.
It sucks there's no giant roster AAA good quality beat em up out right now that would include the more 13+ characters. Disney Infinity would've been perfect because it also has Star Wars characters you can use alongside Marvel ones. (Plus it already has an Avengers movie game and a Guardians of the Galaxy movie game) (also a sweet collection of desktop/shelf/dresser figurines accumulates)
Now would be a great time to announce Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, or at least bring back old games like Spider-man PS1/N64 era and PS2 era Punisher and a collected edition of MUA 1/2 + DLC
I would love for a new Marvel Vs Capcom game, but with more of a slant towards characters that are currently popular because of the MCU (even if the characters are not their MCU interpretations).
Almost forgot about Marvel vs Capcom. I think I'd rather just see a Marvel only fighting game, like a response to Injustice. Supposedly the new Marvel Battlegrounds set for Disney Infinity is setup like a fighting game, but I haven't gotten around to buying it to test that yet. But they did advertise that every Marvel character including 2.0 release ones are usable and that you can use alternate costumes they've made without the relevant power discs from the blind packs that came out a year ago, so they already have a decent roster. Still miffed about no Punisher, because I really would like to play a good punisher game and to my knowledge the only one is the PS2 movie game. I think Punisher is an easy choice for game making since he's basically an action movie hero and there's already so many fitting game types like GTA/Saints Row and FPS. Infact the good PS2 game was made by the Saints Row developers.
Deadpool's video game was pretty good imo, and the Arkham esque Spider-man games look pretty decent, but both of them are afaik made from licenses Disney/Marvel didn't technically have. I mean, NOW spider-man is in the MCU but those games were for Sony and Deadpool is still FOX's.
Is there a licensing issue that Disney is holding back making stuff like those for? Waiting for a deal with Activision to die or something?

Apparently I am not the only one feeling this way right now.
I googled to see if there's any reason and I'm seeing very recent articles and posts talking about how civil war calls for a new game

Hell it's almost weird MUA 2 didn't get a re-release, since it was about Civil War.
Well, there is also that Telltale game coming out in 2017 but obviously that's going to be smaller in scale because of its episodic narrative focus. I wonder if it will tie in closer to the comics or MCU? I'd personally imagine the comics, but with a franchise that is more relevant because of the MCU.
I just want a new Spider-man game. Including Doctor Strange would be pretty fun.
As much as I like Spider-man I think he could use a backseat to some of the other characters because he's been basically immune to the lack of marvel games thanks to all those arkham clones. Plus his Disney Infinity gameplay is very lovingly done like I said, he plays like the good Spider-man games. Ninja Theory did great work with the DI 2.0 characters, it's a shame that due to the figurine gimmick and that its a sequel to disney infinity that many people are likely to pre-judge it and imo miss out.
Also I just looked at some gameplay of DI's marvel battlegrounds. Looks like Smash Bros with marvel characters, even had summons, super abilities (similar to SSB final smash moves, but with super bars instead of a pick up), environment attacks and levels that transition from damage. Like, the NYCC panel had a gameplay with some of the devs and midfight the ground broke and they were in another area of the stage.

It really is interesting that Telltale is doing both a Batman game and a Marvel game within the same 2 years.
[editline]10th May 2016[/editline]
I didn't see the announcement of that one, is it gonna focus on any specific character or is it like Avengers? Did they even specify the idea or are we left in the dark
[editline]10th May 2016[/editline]
From what I can tell there's no explanation whatsoever. Weird because I think the Batman announcement came after this one and its not only closer to release but also has more details...
I just want an X-Men film thats about the X-Men.
From what people are saying the actual X-Men in it are great but dont get enough time to shine again.
Bryan Synger is an excellent director who excels at making the same movie five times.
so whose idea was it to give psylocke this goofy thing

but not allow the xmen to wear their actual yellow and blue costumes like they did in first class

That squished cleavage makes me feel uncomfortable for the person wearing it.
Like, I can imagine everything being compressed to the point of going inward.
Except they padded her out; the squishing actually occurred elsewhere, she had two blowouts on set, causing Fassbender to call one of the action sequences "clam-cam slam".

Spiderman seems to translate over to games oddly well, at least from what I've seen of recent releases
Apparently in the new X-Men there is a scene where they get out of the theater after watching a movie and Jean say something related to how the third movie in a trilogy is always the worst. :v:

Fitting, considering the reviews it's getting...

Bought Deadpool on Blu-ray, upset that it doesn't include the original test footage that got it greenlit
Makes sense, had more time to cast him.
It was really funny how when Spiderman was CG, his suit had lots of detail.
Then in the 5 seconds he is seen not CG, it looks like a Halloween costume.
Going to see civil war today :D
Saw it last night. Definitely one of the strongest Marvel movies. The only downside was someone brought their four year old to the movie and he started crying at one point. I was more angry at the parents, who brings a fucking four year old to the midnight screening? No wonder he was crying he couldn't sleep because of all the fucking explosions. It's like abuse or something

Honestly, I think Singer is stuck in an early 2000s mindset. If the first X-Men movie had them wearing the blue and yellow suits, I think people unfamiliar with the comics would have balked at the idea. Black leather at least was cool then. He needs to bite the bullet and accept that the blue and yellow looks cool and can be done awesomely these days
There's a petition claiming that there's 'growing evidence' that Disney is paying critics to shit on non-Disney movies.
I can always use some good comedy on an early morning.

Gee I wonder who could be behind that petition

[editline]12th May 2016[/editline]
I only have two inquiries
what does a petition for such a thing solve
and why do they think that Disney would need to do that
[editline]12th May 2016[/editline]
Like, I can't think of a plausible reason for suggesting Disney would benefit from that.
The quality of their franchises and films does any job that could do for them. The only thing it'd make sense for them to pay to shit on is FOX marvel films since the lack of the film rights for X-Men and Fantastic Four properties is the biggest thorn in their side atm and the less successful FOX is at it the more likely they can cut a deal. But even that would be fucking stupid and unnecessary

so what stage of grief are we at?
X-Men Days of Future Past and Deadpool received mostly positive reviews though
And Alice is being universally shat upon

But there weren't any Marvel movies to compete with when they were released. It's all a conspiracy, maaaaaan!
