So...A Guardians of the Galaxy themed ride may be in the works?
It's hard to tell since every relevant thing in there is an acronym.
Tower of Terror has been heavily rumored to be rethemed from Twilight Zone to Guardians for a while now, but it seems that the Disney Californian Adventure verison might be a done deal now with an official announcement soon.
God that's such a fucking stupid idea.
I'm sorry, I love Guardians, but Tower of Terror has GOAT-Tier themeing.
Like, they found a way to build a cool story around a simple drop tower ride, what are they even gonna do with it to make it make sense as a Guardians ride?
That kind of property really lends itself more to a dark ride or motion simulator (or maybe even roller coaster).
Not to mention how the big Hollywood Hotel with classic Californian architecture helps define the overall look and vibe of the Hollywood Studios park.
As long as the one in Florida is still Twilight Zone, I'm fine with it, but re-themeing one of their most classic/iconic attractions to Guardians of the Galaxy just feels really tacky. Like if Splash Mountain got turned into a Star Wars ride for some reason.
I just got back from X-Men: Apocalypse, I thought it was really good. I really some people in this thread stating that Apocalypse had no motivations but to the contrary [sp] his whole motivation was that he thought he was superior to humanity and that all their leaders are false compared to him. He simply had a God complex; that was the extent of it. [/sp] saying he had "No motivations" is completely false.
I saw Civil War again last night with my friend who hadn't. It was my third time seeing it and the second time I'd seen it in one week because I went to see it on Friday with my uncle.
Still just as exciting as the first for me.
Meanwhile DC had a massive war just finished in comics as well as reintroducing lost storylines from past years :v:
I was at ComicCon on saturday, saw plenty of Marvel stuff, there was one woman that looked nearly identical to Peggy Carter(I think her name was). Also saw Xmen Apocalypse today, and it really didn't feel like apocalypse at all. Just, dunno, didn't have an impact behind it for me personally, unlike CW

His evilness was barely explored. They tried to introduce too many characters while trying to develop existing characters which left little time to develop Apocalypse himself. That made Apocalypse the typicial "dude wants to end the world because he thinks he's hot shit" villain. DOFP's Trask felt more threatening than Apocalypse imo. The only bad guy who actually had a plausible motivation to want to destroy everything was Magneto

Problem with Magneto was his [sp]family plot armor[/sp] for me, I really saw no solution to his pain and the fact he gets over it so quickly urks me.

I forget who said it, but someone mentioned how it would have been way more appropriate for [sp]Magneto to help stop Apocalypse, but still part ways with Charles. Like, he clearly has different ideals, even if he doesn't want the world to end.[/sp]

I mean he always hated humans and a man can get really mad, blind, [sp]thirsty for vengeance and want to destroy everything when his family is murdered.[/sp] I don't think he got over it so quickly. Thing is everything happened way too fast in the movie. [sp]He's at the factory wanting to kill everyone, then Apocalypse pops up, Cerebro gets hacked, they teleport to the mansion, kidnapp professor, the mansion blows up, Stryker comes up and all of that happens in like 25 mins?[/sp]

[sp]Apocalypse showing up in the factory felt really awkward IMO, Magneto's "who the fuck are you?" echoed exactly what the audience was thinking at that time I reckon. I get that Erik would want to basically kill everyone after his family are murdered, but goofy purple shouty man turning up at such a serious moment felt out of place.
I think Apocalypse was the weakest thing about the movie really. Magneto had actual, tangible motivation for doing what he did, so him helping install a dictator like Apocalypse so quickly was strange. The first place Apocalypse takes him is Auschwitz, and I thought that was a big misstep, because he'd need to be pretty important for Magneto not to straight up kill him for that, but he's straight up like, "where were you when my people were slaughtered?", rather than, "who the fuck do you think you are trying to use the holocaust to further your own ends?!"[/sp]
I haven't laughed that hard at a scene set in a concentration camp since Life is Beautiful.
Seriously, Apocalypse and his horsemen looked like the fucking Village People, only about 30% sillier.
Steve no :(

reason a. TDA still needs to spend like .5billion on park improvements by 2024 to get more tax cuts
reason b. the license renewal for twilight zone is up soon apparently
Just got back from seeing Apocalypse. [sp]I thought it was pretty good, I definitely wasn't disappointed like I was with The Last Stand but it wasn't without it's flaws. I think if it had maybe another 20 minutes the new characters could have been fleshed out a bit better. We got very little back story or character development on Angel and Storm and even less for Psylocke which was kind of a shame (Judging by the ending we'll probably see more of her next time though). Like I said at the start though, I was pretty happy with it and I'm curious about how things go next.[/sp]
So Bryan Singer is leaving the franchise again.
[sp]After introducing the Phoenix, again.[/sp]
God dammit Bryan Singer.
Saw Apocalypse. I had rock-bottom expectations, so I actually enjoyed it in a brain dead way. Gotta say, though, [sp] Magneto pretty much DID cause an apocalypse all by himself. Building and bridges were exploding... the destruction and death tolls world-wide must be catastrophic. And he just gets to walk away in the end?[/sp]
I'd be excited as hell for another Matthew Vaughn x-men film

[sp] Given his power boost, they could easily incorporate Genosha into the next movie. I'm not entirely convinced that Magneto is staying with Xavier's school.[/sp]
As long as Kingsmen 2 isn't rushed I'm more than happy to have Vaughn back although I think he wants Kingsmen to be a trilogy.
[sp]Also I need him for my dream Blue Beetle and Booster Gold film after that[/sp]
Not to be super blatant about plugging my own content, but I wrote a review of X-Men: Apocalypse for my blog, if anyone's interested in checking it out: http://whiteguywithnetflix.blogspot.com/2016/05/review-x-men-apocalypse.html
I thought it was okay. Like, Batman V Superman is the kind of movie where I left the theater going "that was alright I guess", but it all turned to shit the more I thought of it. Whereas Apocalypse is the kind of movie that stayed in the realm of "eh, that was okay" no matter how much thought I put into it.
I feel like it kinda falls into the same trap as The Phantom Menace; lots of protagonists, but no main character for us to latch onto. Cyclops barely does anything, Xavier is relevant to the plot but has no change in story or characterization, and [sp]Magneto does so many horrible things that we can't in good conscience root for him, even after his family is killed.[/sp]
Also, what the hell, why didn't we get [sp]a scene at the mall? That's like the most classic X-Men setup ever. You'd think we'd get to see some 80's culture, have some normal kids staring at Nightcrawler, throw in a little good-natured bigotry ("WOAH, YOU GUYS MUST BE MUTANTS! CAN I GET A PICTURE? DID YOUR PARENTS LIVE NEAR A NUCLEAR PLANT? YOU PEOPLE ARE JUST SO FASCINATING!"), etc. You know, an excuse for a little characterization/world building.[/sp]
But no, instead we just get [sp]a really obvious wink to the audience that is PROBABLY meant to be a dig at X3, but ends up applying to this movie as well, which is just hilarious. It's a suicide-bomb of a joke.[/sp]
Also, not to reach for the low-hanging fruit, but I was really hoping that the post-credits scene would be [sp]Stryker calling in Deadpool to find Wolverine.[/sp]
[sp]"Wade, we've brought you here because you're the best of the best."
"I thought I was here because of the $350 million domestic box office, but who's counting?"[/sp]

The mall scene was cut. In the original scene Nightcrawler even sees some kids doing break dance and join them.
The mall scene was cut. In the original scene Nightcrawler even sees some kids doing break dance and join them.
Why would they ever cut that?
It'd add what, an extra 2, 3 minutes to the runtime? Seriously, this movie didn't revel in the 80's like First Class reveled in the 60's or DoFP in the 70's. Seeing something like that really would have helped add some characterization.
As opposed to having Jubilee do absolutely nothing.
I'd be excited as hell for another Matthew Vaughn x-men film
I hope they get Henry Jackman back for the score if that's the case. I'm pretty tired of the classic X-Men theme now.

She was supposed to use her powers but it was also cut.

[sp]deadpool takes place in the modern day, it wouldn't work, on top of all the fourth-wall breaking stuff it simply can't exist within the film universe. also, qui-gon was undeniably the main character of the phantom menace.[/sp]
The mall scene was cut. In the original scene Nightcrawler even sees some kids doing break dance and join them.
going by the film's tone (this was hardly an 80s film apart from the setting), it would have been very out of place, also i didn't like nightcrawler at all in this film, so seeing him break dance would have been just as bad, my .02. would have been great to see jubilee not be a glorified cameo, but eh.

[sp]a lot can happen in ten years, my guess is that scene was more for continuity than anything else.[/sp]

This physically hurts me.
She didn't even call anyone a dweeb.
She's such a non-character in this movie that I wish they'd not included her, because now she can't be in the next one (which could be set in 1993 to follow the decade rule) without being older/not wearing the big yellow coat and shades and basically what's even the point. I want them to make a 90's film that takes all its cues from the 90s cartoon but Singer has basically killed Jubilee and I have my doubts that Gambit is going to have the weird third person cajun accent, massive trenchcoat or the mask with his hair coming out the top, like God intended.

Dazzler was also supposed to be mentioned but was cut

Honestly, I'd rather have a X-Men movie where they are all just doing casual stuff - like going to the mall, trying to fit in, having fun and all of that and with Xavier looking for students and trying to help them - over a movie with a crap villain like Apocalypse
