Honestly, I'd rather have a X-Men movie where they are all just doing casual stuff - like going to the mall, trying to fit in, having fun and all of that and with Xavier looking for students and trying to help them - over a movie with a crap villain like Apocalypse
So a terrible Saturday Disney cartoon that's two hours long?
[editline]1st June 2016[/editline]
The young mutants were the worst part of that film for me.
To follow up on the X-Men music thing, I think a real tragedy here is the lack of musical consistency throughout all of these superhero movies. Every subsequent score seems to ignore the previous with only a few small references added for call-backs that don't really work because the rest of the score is so forgettable. Tell me, how many of you remember any Civil War theme? I can't remember a thing. It saddens me that music in these movies are treated as wallpaper essentially.
A lot was cut, but they kept in the jab [sp]at X-Men 3.[/sp]
[sp]Which ironically works against this one as well.[/sp]

Civil War had pretty memorable music IMO. This track is brilliant, it has a definite sense of tragedy to it, fitting of the superheroes fighting each other.
Then you had all the bits [sp]from 1991[/sp] that had the start of Winter Soldier's theme.
Saying the X-Men movies lack musical consistency is also pretty inaccurate. Even when the continuity makes no sense, all the major X-Men movies have included either parts or the entire theme from the X2 movie back in 2003:

Music is in no way treated 'as wallpaper' these days. Magneto has his awesome theme back in First Class, which as far as I know didn't return in future movies, but it was a vital part of all of his scenes, it developed throughout the movie as his character did, with four progressive tracks, "Frankenstein's Monster", "Pain and Anger", "X-Men" and "Magneto".

Furthermore, when you have sequences like in Amazing Spider-Man 2 (as bad as that movie was) where the music was literally a part of Electro's powers; I think music has never played a more important role in superhero movies.
I found the music in Civil War to be quite memorable, as with most MCU films.
I couldnt hum a single melodic line from any marvel film
The only films I could not remember the tune from are The Hulk and Iron Man 2.

This is the only thing I remember from Iron Man 2, partially cause it's the main menu music for the blu ray. Also it's badass.

iron man, avengers and captain america definitely have the most memorable music.
Thor and Thor 2 (mostly Thor) have VERY memorable music I think.
But again, mostly Iron Man, Avengers, and Captain America: TFA.
Winter Soldier has a very unique and memorable sound as well.

Ant-Man was also pretty good.
I'm mainly talking about how themes never remain constant. That's expected with other composers, but for X-Men: First Class - this is a great example of what i'm talking about.
I haven't heard Apoc yet but Magneto's theme is only referenced barely once in DOFP.
Maybe calling all of it wallpaper is an overexaggeration. It's not as memorable as
Past examples.
I like the CW and Winter Soldier scores, I think my problems with these scores stem from the lackluster track listing.
I agree. The X-Men theme just doesn't fit these new characters.
Alan Silvestri fucking nailed the theme for the Avengers and the whole scene wouldn't have worked if it didn't have such a track.
And then Bryan Tylers score for Avengers 2... well... uh
nothing memorable except that little piece of the slow mo scene near the end.
Fuckin' love this, especially when it gets to the main bit at 1:05.

This is pretty much the only original track I can remember from any Marvel movie ever

Let's face it, nothing in the MCU or Fox has ever topped this:

It's weird hearing it without the sound effects after all these years. And that one "ping" sound it plays twice during it sounds weirdly like a doorbell.
mandatory in every marvel soundtrack discussion

the scene where it plays is pretty good too

Aside from Mystique's theme and Magneto's from 1C, there really hasn't been much. Frankly the use of Dark City's climax music in two of the trailers was more memorable outside of those two stings.
Silvestri and Jackman pretty much made the most memorable incidental content for the rest though Tyler's isn't bad.
I also kinda miss the licensed music during the credits that we got from Avengers. I thought Live to Rise was really cool and fit the tone very well. And I believe Left Hand Free in Civil War was a nice credits song as well.

IIRC the ultron score is bryan tyler and danny elfman, and also iirc the tyler parts are half original, half silvestri tracks.

Oh yeah. Great choice.
i'd rather have ronda rousey tbh.
brie larson is a good choice, but she's stuck up imo.
I honestly can't see Brie Larson as Carol Danvers

Thought you guys would like to see my 1/6 scale Marvel collection.
It took me until Tony to realize they weren't just high-contrast photos of the Civil War cast.
Captain America: World Police
I remember when people were saying Emily Blunt could be a decent Captain Marvel. Even found a neat mockup. Though whether she'd actually suit the role is different.

If she can play a self righteous facist drunkard (how Marvel fucked up Carol is a story worth an epic) she is a perfect fit for Captain Marvel.
