idk why, maybe im crazy but I felt like some of iron man's more dramatic/emotional lines in civil war felt...odd. Like the way they were delivered, partiularly when he talks to Cap, didn't feel as honest/real as RDJ has delivered them in earlier marvel movies. Maybe it's just me though.
See I felt the exact opposite. It's felt like the role of Tony Stark has been getting a little stale lately, given how prolific RDJ has become. Basically just show up, spit some technobabble, make the occasional joke or snappy reference, and have a third of his screentime the "inside the helmet" view. It was nice to see him actually emoting and acting, he hasn't felt this much like an actual character to me since the first Iron Man.
Actually I was actually referring mostly to how he acted in the first iron man since I recently rewatched it. Though i suppose I'm exaggerating, I mostly only felt that way about the airport scene where he's trying to bring them in. Speaking of i think the first Iron Man is still my fav marvel movie.
If she can play a self righteous facist drunkard (how Marvel fucked up Carol is a story worth an epic) she is a perfect fit for Captain Marvel.
well I mean, Brie Larson's definitely got the whole self righteous thing down at least

Damn... it's a shame we'll never see Bruce Campbell's Mysterio. He would have been perfect for the role.
It'd be neat if we got a movie of Peter Parker: Science Detective. Like, Mysterio emerges a little after Doctor Strange enters the public eye, so no one is really sure if he's actually a sorcerer or not. And relatively early on, we learn that it's just illusions and trickery, so the rest of the movie is Spidey trying to stay one step ahead of Mysterio to find out who he really is. And maybe throw the Chameleon in there for extra Scooby-Dooery. So the whole thing is a series of double-crosses and red herrings with huge dramatic stakes, until it's revealed that the mastermind is really just some loser who's pissed that he isn't an actor anymore. It'd be really tough to make Mysterio work on-screen, mostly because they'd have to break from the established Spider-Man movie formula of "someone is given great power, uses it irresponsibly, tries to use a big machine that'll fuck everyone to death, dies at the end".

I know some people aren't excited for a Spider-Man movie with Iron Man in it, but I think it'll be pretty great. My favourite thing about Tony Stark is that as much as he's an awful, flawed human being who is kind of a dick, he's also a genius inventor. I still think that they've kind of exhausted his engineering ability by this point though. With all that [sp]VR stuff[/sp] in Civil War, it's like, what can't he do? He's pioneered clean renewable energy in Iron Man 1 (with the disclaimer that it wasn't really efficient), upscaled the American military's reaching power and general ability to combat supervillain threats with the War Machine armour in Iron Man 2, then completely fixed Extremis by the epilogue of Iron Man 3 (which surely means he can use it for something incredible), it's implied that all the tech the Avengers and Shield use is Starktech, so that's huge advances in aeronautics with the quinjets and repulsor jets on the helicarriers, and then whatever else they use. I wouldn't be surprised if he personally designed Falcon's wings one afternoon when he was bored. After all that, he definitely creates artificial intelligence in AoU, after Jarvis kinda begged that question. Now he's [sp]hijacking people's brain signals to create intense VR memory therapy sessions[/sp] as well?! Basically, what I'm saying is that I think we need more nerds in the MCU, before Stark advances the entire world into a new age of technological wonders single-handedly. This new Peter Parker seems like a good start.
I'm kinda hoping we get a more classic Spidey design (less superfluous MCU lines on the shoulders and legs, Spider-Tracers, armpit webs, etc.) with a little scene where Pete sheepishly admits to Tony that he'd made some custom modifications to the original design. Like, Tony gives him something sleek and high-tech, makes him look like an Avenger. But then Pete turns it into basically a dynamic cosplay because he thinks it looks cooler.
I don't expect Stark to be in Spider-man any longer than Peter was in Captain America. We're in a brave new world of comic book movies where characters can pop up for a little bit and it not be a big deal or a selling point. Like real comic books where a character pops up for a few pages.
I think Stark is just going to be in Spider-man just out of goodwill by Marvel with the deal they made. We'll probably get him for a couple parker scenes, and it would be cool to see them just sitting on top of a building in costume taking a lunch break from their busy days.

Let him offer advice and guidance to Parker, don't let him get in the way of Parker's problems in any physical manner. Mentor him.
Saw X-men yesterday. I liked it, only a few nitpicks [sp]Quicksilver showing up at the mansion was a real Deus ex machina I liked the sequence though. I think Magneto going evil at the beginning and then turning on En Sabah Nur just happened too easily.[/sp] I didn't stay for the post credit scenes, what were they? [editline]4th June 2016[/editline] Jubilee's costume was spot on though. I've only seen her in the 90s cartoon, but it was perfect.

The after credits sequence of Apocalypse really made me question the whole practice of after credits sequences. With it being right at the end of the actual credits, rather than at the end of the flashy CGI credits, I just thought, "wow, I just waited 5 minutes for a 10 second clip of things I don't recognise or understand"
Anyone familiar with vampiric douchelords with magic tassled leather would understand though, hence why it was included. Advanced buzz is a hell of a drug.

Finally saw Civil War. Villain wasn't as bad as I thought he'd be. Spidey was cool.

I feel like they're already stacking the deck for the aftermath of Infinity War. Basically the entirety of the MCU so far has been building to Thanos, so it's neat to see them sowing their seeds so things can keep going once that stuff is all wrapped up. -Spidey will eventually usurp Iron Man as the "face" of the brand (techy, smart, wise-ass, iconic design) -[sp]Zemo survived[/sp], it was made clear that he harbored a grudge against The Avengers as a team/concept rather than just one or two individuals on the team (will likely form the Masters of Evil down the line) -Netflix shows are building their own little sub-world, can be introduced to the movies at any time (a Spidey/Daredevil teamup could easily justify its own movie) -Cosmic stuff is a literally limitless well of stories, characters, and content that can affect the rest of the MCU as little or as much as they please Not to mention how they're still working on accquiring those few properties like Fantastic 4 and X-Men that don't fall under the Marvel banner just yet. And don't even get me started on the potential of multiple universes and Elseworlds. The MCU is gonna be around for a good long while after Infinity War, so long as they play their cards right and continue being smart with how they operate.
For nuPunch should we make a comic book subforum to encompass LA material and actual comic book discussion or are we good hiding the MCU thread and various other LA comic threads in Film & TV?
For nuPunch should we make a comic book subforum to encompass LA material and actual comic book discussion or are we good hiding the MCU thread and various other LA comic threads in Film & TV?
I can't imagine a comic subforum having more than just this general chat thread. A huge majority of Marvel fans now are only fans through the movies, not the comics sadly. There are few here on FP that read comics themselves and fewer that read a great deal of them.

We could have a DC cinematic thread, a Marvel cinematic thread, a Netflix thread for Daredevil/Jessica Jones/Luke Cage/Iron Fist discussion, then all the DC TV threads, as well as any actual comic threads that popped up. It could even be a space for comics related gaming, although I know there isn't an awful lot (although there was the Arkham series, and Marvel Heroes is actually good now).
There's already A. a comics subforum B. a Marvel thread in the Movies and TV subforum and C. a Marvel subforum (which I made to test my CSS)
