Anyone know of any updates to Wesley Snipes possibly being Blade again?

Yeah dude I'm sure the Disney channel kid will give a great performance, maybe even to rival the actress that had film awards 5 years in advance, it makes perfect sense to drop her character and make her fill in MJ instead

I am not arguing that Zendaya is a good actress, where did you get that from?
Youve been talking about ability to portray the character etc
If she doesn't look anything like the character what else is there besides acting?
[editline]20th August 2016[/editline]
The only good race swap rumor so far is Vaas as Kletus Cassidy, we already know he can do good psycho

I meant that ideally, that's how it would work. Doesn't mean that's what's happening
It doesn't sound like carnage will be in the movie though so idk who he is

I vaguely remember various awesome Spidey scenes in comics happening nearby Ferris wheels
[QUOTE=VenomousBeetle;50916741]Spectacular seems pretty similar to Ultimate Eddie's origins[/QUOTE]
It's essentially a combination of Ultimate and 616.
Ultimate Eddie becoming 616 Venom. It's a great match, as much as I love scummy reporter Eddie Brock.
Also, anyone who hasn't watched this short film should do so immediately.

James Gunn posted his thoughts on Zendaya possibly being MJ

Also there was a callsheet for spider-man that was leaked on twitter, but was later deleted.
Just going to link it for spoiler reasons. If this is real it has Zendaya named [sp] Michelle [/sp]

The same account that leaked this is apparently the same account that leaked other pictures from set.
[quote=James Gunn]People get upset when something they consider intrinsic to a comic book character changes when adapted for a film. I get this. There are movies I dislike because I think there's a basic misunderstanding of the story or the character when the comic is transferred to film (I still hate how in the first Batman movie the Joker was revealed as the murderer of Bruce Wayne's parents, for instance.)
That said, I do not believe a character is the color of his or her skin. When Michael B Jordan was cast as Johnny Storm I didn't understand the uproar. The primary characteristic of Johnny was not, to me, that he was white, or that he had blonde hair, but that he was a fiery, funny, big-mouthed braggart of a hero. I was happy that he was going to be played by one of the finest and most charming young actors out there.
Yesterday, a rumor broke out that the character of Mary Jane was being played by a young black woman, Zendaya, and all hell broke out on the Internet (again). I tweeted that if people find themselves complaining about Mary Jane's ethnicity they have lives that are too good. (For those of you who think this means I'm confirming that Zendaya IS playing MJ, realize that although I've read the Spidey script, and I've met the actress in question, I have no idea what her role is. There's a good chance someone told me at one time or another, but, if so, I can't remember. I'm going to find out when I go into Marvel this afternoon, but I feel free to speak until that time because it's about the concept about a black woman playing Mary Jane, not the actuality or hypothesis of it.)
I got a thousand or so responses to my tweet. Most of them were positive. Some folks disagreed - they thought the character should look like what she looks like in the comics - but were thoughtful. And a handful were flat out racist.
I can't respond to the racists - I'm not ever going to change their minds. But for the thoughtful majority of you out there:
For me, if a character's primary attribute - the thing that makes them iconic - is the color of their skin, or their hair color, frankly, that character is shallow and sucks. For me, what makes MJ MJ is her alpha female playfulness, and if the actress captures that, then she'll work. And, for the record, I think Zendaya even matches what I think of as MJ's primary physical characteristics - she's a tall, thin model - much more so than actresses have in the past.
Whatever the case, if we're going to continue to make movies based on the almost all white heroes and supporting characters from the comics of the last century, we're going to have to get used to them being more reflective of our diverse present world. Perhaps we can be open to the idea that, although someone may not initially match how we personally conceive a character, we can be - and often are - happily surprised.[/quote]
summarized it perfectly

They're currently filming it right?
I don't care about the amount of melanin in SCU MJ's skin.
I do care if she's going to be played by Low-Rent Rhianna whom does not have the chops to pull off the WIS to Parker's INT, in addition to being one of the most strikingly beautiful women in an entire universe where

[t]http://art.cafimg.com/images/Category_15663/subcat_37018/byaA8Xk6_1208141737571.jpg[/t]
is a thing.
I sincerely doubt if Zendaya is their actual choice she can pull it off convincingly.
For the record, Dunst was a pretty mediocre MJ, whose range pretty much consisted of [TELEGRAPH CONCERNED] [SCREAM HERE] and [TELEGRAPH OBLIVIOUSLY HAPPY REGARDLESS OF CONTEXT OR TONE], respectively.
[url]http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Michele_Gonzales_(Earth-616)[/url]
she's supposed to be this one, sister of a cop who hates Spider-man so much he apparently has a tattoo of green goblin
[editline]20th August 2016[/editline]
As far as accuracy goes its a pretty good choice but the fact she's pretty much entirely done failed disney channel sitcoms still makes it a little questionable
[editline]20th August 2016[/editline]
They'd probably do a bunch of other Spider-gf's before even bringing MJ on, Gwen Stacy chronologically is supposed to be before her, and he ends up marrying MJ so you'll have to get the dozens of love interests out of the way first if you want them
[editline]20th August 2016[/editline]
nerdiest pimp ever
I really hate these arguments that always spring up when a traditionally white character is (possibly) confirmed to be portrayed by a non-white actor, because they really just seem racist, and it's uncomfortable.
You're arguing that Mary Jane should look like she does in the comics, which is fair enough. The trouble however, is that the comics and the original character designs are from the 1960s. VenomousBeetle has consistently reminded us that Mary Jane was originally designed to look like Ann Margret, a famous actress from the 1960s. This makes a lot of sense considering that Mary Jane is a model:
[thumb]http://www.doctormacro.com/Images/Ann-Margret/Annex/Annex%20-%20Ann-Margret_33.jpg[/thumb]
The problem arises however, when you realise that Spider-Man: Homecoming has a vague 'modern day' setting, as in, it could believably be occurring today. Modern day models do not look like Ann Margret. A model from Queens is not going to dress like Ann Margret, style her hair like Ann Margret, or wear similarly fashioned clothes. I mean, the clothes thing is a bit iffy since fashion is kind of cyclical and it's the 'hipster' thing to wear vintage clothing, but that's not the point.
What I'm saying is that to tell a believable story, they're going to have to update these characters a little. I can understand the outrage when it's a major character to a degree, especially when their race is a part of their character, but for a [B]support[/B] character, which is what she is, despite how much you can feign outrage that we dare to say less about Mary Jane Watson when her relevance has always been her relationship to Peter Parker/Spider-Man, it's a bit silly, and maybe even racist, to cry 'heresy' when the actor isn't white.
MJ isn't cast, she's Michele Gonzalez, get over it already
No one even mentioned clothes, she wears jeans and tshirts. Also she's Red Sonja and Iron Spider, and she's pivotal in pretty much every major Spider-Man story she's in. Having a failed Disney channel actress switch roles to "update" (what) would just be stupid.
Kevin Feige and Stan Lee both have spoken on the subject of changing major characters races and disagreed with the notion so I guess marvels just racist amirite?
This argument started like 2 days, 3 pages, and 120 posts ago can we just stop already?
[QUOTE=AaronM202;50920850]This argument started like 2 days, 3 pages, and 120 posts ago can we just stop already?[/QUOTE]
I mean, you guys are only going to start it again when more minorities are inevitably cast in traditionally white roles.
Unless you're saying that that isn't going to happen. But they're not going to stop modernising these stories so maybe you should come to accept that rather than losing it every time it happens.

Okay thats nice and all but you can stop now.
[editline]Augustus[/editline]
By the way, i dont have an issue with minorities being cast in white roles inherently, its a case by case basis depending on the specific character in question.
So no, i wont unless i disagree with the casting decision. You dont see me getting riled up about Bokeem Woodbine as Shocker, now do you?

If Michael Mando isnt Carnage im going to be very upset.
It's rumor so far but since Mando's roles are typically crazies and there's no clues to his casting idk who else he could be
people lost their shit over this

It happened a couple days after the news broke that he was in it
[editline]20th August 2016[/editline]
Unless he's using a different name that picture of the casting board doesn't have him, so they must be keeping it a secret for some reason...

So i just noticed, Shocker has a "#2" next to his name.
Interesting to note is the only other time Shocker wasnt Herman Schultz, he was Montana from The Enforcers which was in Spectacular Spider-Man, produced by Sony.
Perhaps we're getting a duo of Shockers, one being Schultz, one being Montana? That'd be interesting. One could look like classic yellow and red shocker, the other violet and white shocker.
Goon #2 (Balinger) is also odd
Can see Michael Mando as Shocker. Carnage would be cool but wasn't it rumoured Shocker was in this film too?
EDIT:
Ha nevermind I posted that before I saw the call sheet.
