What does it mean when a movie is embargoed?
As you can see from the list, that it's so bad there's no subjective take on how bad it is, simply whether or not you should waste money on it at all, and by waste, I mean watch it for "free" on paid streaming/cable.
don't forget that Mad Max: Fury Road had it's embargo lifted two days before release. but Fant4stic looks fucking awful so it's not going to be a Mad Max type thing.
don't forget that Mad Max: Fury Road had it's embargo lifted two days before release. but Fant4stic looks fucking awful so it's not going to be a Mad Max type thing.
You don't understand. This embargo means that the reviews are gonna start coming out four hours before the first showing of the movie. And nobody going to the first showing of the movie is gonna have enough time to rescind their purchase. It's not two whole days.
The sad thing is now I think I have to see Fantfourstic just to see if it ranks as one of the worst of the year.
please don't pay to see it.
sneak into the cinema instead
Ant Man was embargoed. I was speaking to a journalist who saw it and she said she really couldn't say much as it was under embargo. She could only say she enjoyed it and that was it. I think Avengers was too but a few broke that in the days leading up to release. For big super hero films it's usually to protect plot details. Expect Star Wars to be embargoed too. [editline]28th July 2015[/editline] With video games a review embargo usually means it's pretty shite. Same applies to smaller films. But it's really common with big blockbuster movies. Like Mad Max as mentioned above. If you look it up Guardians had an embargo (that was broken) too.
The Fant4stic news just keeps getting better/worse:
F4 UPDATE:
Interesting. [editline]28th July 2015[/editline] Films still out in 2 days in some countries anyway so.
I got my MCU Phase One box set today. [t]http://s7.postimg.org/b2vg9mc2z/IMG_3432.jpg[/t] [t]http://s7.postimg.org/8zl11yca3/IMG_3434.jpg[/t] [t]http://s7.postimg.org/wrucdheaz/IMG_3435.jpg[/t] The Tesseract is a bit of a disappointment, but otherwise this set is really neat.
Re posting from last thread in relation to Antman. [sp] Anyone else feel that Wasp/Janet will be rescued by Dr Strange but due to her extended stay in the Quantum Realm she'll be slightly nuts and as a result she'll become the Red Queen rather than Hope? [/sp]
just to be clear, since i haven't read anything related to the quantum realm, but is that what it's called in the comics? and the microverse is a parallel dimension with an entrance located in the quantum realm, right?

holy shit the fucking blue car on the left

"Hey boss, the image didn't turn out so good. Should we go over it again, maybe work on the shading and models some more?" "What are you talking about? It looks fine! Just put a blue filter and some fog over it and no one will notice!"
Thing is OP, can evaporate objects now
Tatum a no show for Gambit
Channing Tatum has reportedly dropped out of 20th Century Fox’s X-Men spinoff There’s a major shakeup today on 20th Century Fox’s side of the Marvel Universe as The Wrap is reporting that Channing Tatum has exited the upcoming X-Men spinoff, Gambit. The film was planned to go before cameras in October, although Tatum’s exit now leaves the film’s future uncertain.
http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/466381-channing-tatum-exits-x-men-spinoff-gambit
I sense Marvel Studios may be making a move for X Men
I don't really get it either. Why do we have these feuding rival studios competing in a war that can't be won (except by the one that has bigger guns), can't they just share profits instead of trying to capitalize on the others success. Their feuding has becoming so bad that it's gotten to the point where what these studios make just hurts the audience more then the studio.(Fantastic Four, TASM2). Can't they just surrender and give the properties to Marvel already. Sony lost the war, but Fox is making it worse.

There's all the merchandise that comes with the movies. Kids may see a movie once, but buy a dozen action figures all worth the same as a movie ticket each. That gives an incentive to keep the rights, even if this movie is shit, the next one may not be. And of course, kids being kids won't always know a bad movie when they see it, they just see action and superheroes. Hell, when I was younger, I thought the Phantom Menace was the hottest shit ever made and now that I'm older, I realize what a piece of shit it is - but I still have about 3 dozen action figures and other crap from it when it first came out. And where as majority of the movies Sony makes is utter fucking trash and the whole company ought to go under, Fox has some pretty okay movies out there so while F4 will definitely crash and burn, Fox still has some pretty feasible control over itself not to be man-handled by Marvel Studios to get the rights back like it did with Sony.
I sense Marvel Studios may be making a move for X Men
Oh boy. If they do, they should keep Deadpools actor/costume the same. Little wink wink to the 4th wall.
I sense Marvel Studios may be making a move for X Men
What makes you say that? Is it just because Tatum walked away from Gambit, or was that more of a general statement? I'm genuinely curious, because the idea of Marvel getting all of its franchises back is like a dream come true.
Just a statement in general. It wouldn't be a surprise if they have plans to do it since they've already snagged Spiderman from Sony.
Tatum a no show for Gambit http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/466381-channing-tatum-exits-x-men-spinoff-gambit
oh well chris claremont approved of his casting at the least.
Oh boy. If they do, they should keep Deadpools actor/costume the same. Little wink wink to the 4th wall.
I'd be surprised if they don't do a fourth wall breaking gag about their "Rights Wars".
I'd be surprised if they don't do a fourth wall breaking gag about their "Rights Wars".
Actually, that reminds me. Right now, theres a rumor floating around that one of the planned Netflix series after Defenders is going to be Thunderbolts, which i can see happening. Marvel would be able to use Deadpool in it if they did that version of the team (they already set up Ross, and are setting up Punisher and Elektra, Agent Venom would be unlikely but hey why the fuck not)and Fox wouldnt be able to do a damn thing about it because Fox doesnt own the TV rights to X-Men or Fantastic Four, Marvel does. In January, Fox had a meeting with Marvel because they want to do a TV show, but they cant without Marvel letting them. [editline]29th July 2015[/editline] That'd be kind of an interesting way to use some characters from those franchises that Fox isnt using, and would fit within the budget/story of a Netflix series. [editline]29th July 2015[/editline] UNRELATED TO THAT. So apparently the big guys over at /tv/ saw Fantastic Four early (its releasing on this friday in quite a few countries so it makes sense) so massive fucking spoilers inbound because im gonna post all of it. Again, spoilers. Legit, fucking Spoilers yo Though i doubt any of you are seeing the movie anyway.
--[sp]It opens with Reed and Ben as kids trying to build a teleporter. Over the years, they get a prototype ready and Reed shows it off at the school's science fair, and attracts the attention of the Baxter Institute, a research center funded by the government. So he's brought into the group by Dr. Storm and meets Sue, Johnny and Victor. Ben doesn't feel at home at Baxter among the scientists and he and Reed drift apart. After some years, Baxter finally has a fully functioning big teleporter working. Reed and Sue grow close, which gets Victor jealous. He was once Storm's protege, the future of Baxter and had feelings for Sue, but now Reed has taken all of that. The group displays the machine to Tim Blake Nelson's character and he authorizes an expedition. Reed, Sue, Johnny and Victor are set to go, and Ben is brought along because Reed promised him he'd be there. They go into the other dimension and learn it's a dying planet filled with glowing lava-like substance. Victor is reckless, trying to get a sample, which leads to the mountain they're in collapsing and they all getting exposed to the planet's strange energies. Victor falls into the lava-looking shit and is presumed dead, while the others make it back to Baxter.[/sp] --[sp]Sue's dad was Storm's best friend who died, and he left her for Storm to raise. Anyway, the other four now have superpowers. Nelson takes over, takes them to a facility built to house them and their powers, and announces he wants to weaponize their powers. Reed is blaming himself for what happened, particularly to Ben, and wants to find a cure. Since they're now property of the Army and Storm can't help them, Reed bargains to help the military in a series of operations to show off to Nelson's superior their combat effectiveness, and let Nelson's top men study them so they can reproduce their powers, in exchange for Nelson giving them the money and the tools to find a cure. Storm isn't very pleased with that. Meanwhile, we see Victor survived, has powers too and is left to roam the dying planet. We get a montage of the Four in missions across the globe, and they're good, but they don't follow orders to the letter. They let some unarmed soldiers go, they hesitate, they're cocky, that kind of stuff. Some time passes (it's not quite clear how much), and Storm finds out Nelson has secretly stolen Reed's designs from Baxter and is building another teleporter. He wants to send soldiers to the dying planet to get samples of the lave-like radioactive goo so they can have a supply to keep pumping out supersoldiers. The FF object to this, but can't do anything about it.[/sp] --[sp]So Elder opens the portal, and once the soldiers step into the dying planet, they're pretty easily killed by Victor (now "Doom"), who steps out of the portal and fights them. He has telekinesis, can control other peoples mind, energy blasts, molecular manipulation, all kinds of shit. Sue eventually knocks him out with her force fields and he's detained. Nelson thinks Doom is the game-changer. Reed talks with Victor and tries to offer help, but Victor refuses. He sees himself as a god and wants to conquer Earth. Nelson says that, since Victor is technically "dead", they can do whatever they want, and decides to vivisect him to explot his powers. Reed objects and says he can find a cure. Nelson decides to be an asshole, detains the FF in specials cells he created for them without them knowing, and destroys all of Reed's research on cure and laughs about it to their faces. Victor is prepared for vivisection just as some technicians find out the computers are acting strange. Victor has technopathy too, and he is basically downloading all the data directly into his mind. He then breaks out and begins killing everyone. Storm is at the base and helps the FF escape. He wants them to flee from the government, but they decide to stay and fight. Doom ends up brainwashing the Johnny into attacking Sue and soldiers into attacking Reed and Ben. He destroys the new teleporter and then Storm shows up with a gun and tries to kill him. Doom stabs Storm, saying Storm was the only one that ever treated him as an equal, and he's returning that favor by sparing Storm of seeing his children die. Storm dies, Sue goes apeshit and creates a force field so strong it knocks down power on half the city. Victor is injured and escapes.[/sp] --[sp]The teleporter's destruction has created a series of ripples in the space-time continuum, that'll eventually become a singularity and destroy all life on Earth. The FF then convince the military higher-ups to give them 24h to solve the crisis before they attempt to evacuate the population from the endagered areas, since nukes don't matter. --[quick note here from your pal AaronM202, not from the copied and pasted part, but where the fuck are they evacuating people to? fucking PLUTO?]-- They outfit an old plane with Reed's teleporter and use it to launch themselves into the dying world, where Victor is guarding a massive tower of energy, increasing the singularity's mass so the end of the world arrives faster. The FF fight Doom and get rekt at first, because Doom is so much more powerful, but Reed then gives them a pep talk and they all combine their powers and fight as a team. Together, they defeat Doom and destroy the tower, causing the dying planet to begin to collapse. They jump into the thresold of the portal Victor had opened, while Victor is left behind, seemingly to die, and manage to journey back to the Earth. The singularity is still near critical mass, but Sue manages to contain it with a massive force field, and the Earth is saved. The military recognize the FF for their superhero efforts and fire Nelson. Reed takes over Baxter and decides to focus on starting to search for a cure again, but the others tell him it's not necessary. Their powers are a gift and can be used to change the future as Storm always wanted. Reed makes them new uniforms (which look pretty good) and decides to look over his old models for a flying car, which I guess is teasing the Fantasticar. Reed and Sue get together. Happy end. Cut to a snow-covered village in some nameless Eastern European country. Soldiers are rounding up the locals, being dicks, even beating some people. They see a man cowering in a corner, with a cloak over his face, and start dicking around with him. You can guess where that's going, right? It's Doom, and he prepares to kill the soldiers as the movie cuts to black.[/sp]
This sounds like dog shit holy fuck.
