I saw Civil War last night and honestly feel like it was more of an Avengers movie than a Cpt. America movie. Like, all Cap does is [sp]be a huge dick who goes all "oh no international treaties are against my freedoms"[/sp], and then [sp]"oh hey Iron Man please save the guy who murdered your parents", "oh no Iron Man you blew my friends not-actually-an-arm off, I'm going to almost murder you and then go rogue and break into a prison to release all these more-or-less war criminals now",[/sp] and then finally [sp]"alright Iron Man I'm going to allow you to forgive me for all this shit that I did to you and the Avengers because I'm so great and american and that means disregarding international politics is okay also listen to this super patriotic fucking trumpet in the background"[/sp]
I was so salty. And he even does this all because he got [sp]his views cemented after some speech at a funeral, like what the fuck even[/sp]
did you completely miss the part where [sp]cap's fears were fully realized after zemo got access to 5 superhuman master assassins "that could topple a government in a week", and there was nothing they could do without UN approval[/sp]
kinda the entire point of the movie man
Saw it today. Pretty good, the seats me and my friends got were pretty close to the front so I think I need to see it once more to properly appreciate it properly.
spoilers [sp]GiAnt man was so fucking cool, although once it happened and Vision started sizing him up I remembered the part in the comics where Thor's clone kills Goliath and suddenly everything felt tense as fuck. but then everything was ok and I reminded myself that Marvel had another Ant Man film coming out and to kill him off straight after becoming huge would've been fuckin stupid on their part.[/sp]
also [sp]fuck me the whole airport scene was phenomenal. loved it. i wanted another half an hour of that at least. oh, and spider-man is obviously good as fuck, like everyone else has already mentioned. alt-j was great. loved it.[/sp]
8/10 it was ok
I get so fucking excited whenever I think about the fact that one day we will see all of the Avengers, including Spider-Man + the Guardians in a single movie fighting side by side.
Spiderman interacting with Groot/Rocket Racoon will be really cool, I could see a few great laughs from that.
I imagine Cap and Starlord are going to be good friends since they both skipped a lot of years of human history
is a low-key villain better than a loki villain
this would be pretty awesome too but i don't think it will ever happen :(

[sp]I recommend you stop watching it after about 1:45. It just gets stupid after that.[/sp]
I imagine Cap and Starlord are going to be good friends since they both skipped a lot of years of human history
Rogers is far too serious a person to befriend someone so wild and loose, imho
[editline]1st May 2016[/editline]
Not to say they wouldn't get along, but "good friends" I think is a stretch.
is a low-key villain better than a loki villain
Don't worry, Thanos' middle name is "completely subdued subtlety".
Since DC is releasing Suicide Squad I was thinking. What if Marvel released a spin-off movie with some villains teaming up? That could be p cool

Sinister Six under Marvel's Creative Control would be pretty awesome

Thunderbolts or Masters of Evil come to mind with recent events
To be fair the last point is straight up a speech by Cap that got repurposed
But what about if your friends and family are at stake?
yeah because he's never considered any of that in all the years between now and ww2.
-_-
Ant-Mans helmet looked inferior to his solo movie one. Too much chrome
i kinda preferred ant-man's costume in civil war, looks less like a biker jacket and more like an actual marvel superhero costume
Well the only one is like 40 years old or something.
Are we still discussing Civil War?
One thing I really loved about the fight scene was that everyone had their own "moment". Not in a forced way but so that it fit the character and how they feel about things. Some were really quick while others were more gradual and nobody really felt useless.
[sp]Ant-Man was a wildcard that nobody knew or took seriously, so he becomes a giant that you just can't ignore. From zero to hero, like his entire character.
Vision slowly becoming more human and eventually getting emotionally distracted by Wanda.
Black Widow ultimately siding with Cap.
For Rhody it was his sacrifice.
And Spider-Man. For him, the whole fight was his moment.[/sp]
action scenes driving the plot instead of just being pointless filler for the popcorn audience? what?
his entire suit in civil war looks goofy tbh and its such a surprise considering hawkeye and falcons costumes look superior than the way they looked in other films
It's really hard to top his suit from his solo movie. It couldn't have looked better, because it looks so fucking good. His new suit kinda feels disconnected because the helmet has a different colour scheme due to its chrome, compared to the rest of the suit.

Also, I fucking lost it when [sp]Giant-Man did his maniac laugh, the whole theater burst into laughs because of it.[/sp]
His suit in the solo movie looks like a bad ass motorcycle suit, which I love
Probably a very unpopular opinion but I like Black Widow. She's so good when she's fighting
Just got back from seeing it. I like it a lot, Panther and Spidey are damn good (love how Tony remarks on May's hotness) but I just kept on asking 'why is cap being such a fucking dumbass' and 'why should I root for team cap' a little too often.
Had that same feeling sometimes. Tony wanted the Avengers to take responsability for their actions and to answer to the UN to prevent more lives from being taken during fights
Cap was like "Whatever. Bucky lol"
You think that was fucked? Opening accident, both he and Wanda admit they're at fault. He dismisses the Sokovia Accords on the grounds that they're just shoving away the responsibility.
AND THEN HE SPENDS THE ENTIRE MOVIE LETTING BUCKY ESCAPE ANY FORM OF RESPONSIBILITY!
Yeah I was totally on Cap's side. Since when has putting anything in the hands of the UN worked out for the better? Yes people died and yes it was The Avenger's fault. But like he said; the safest hands are still their own.
He wasn't letting Bucky escape from responsibility. Bucky had done nothing wrong and nobody was willing to entertain that idea. They just wanted to pin responsibility on somebody and sometimes it's not that simple.
There's no right or wrong side to this argument. That's what makes it well written. Some people will see Cap in the wrong and the film embraces that, that's okay.
In my eyes Stark and the Pro-side were a big bag of dicks: [sp]they essentially imprisoned Wanda instead of communicating with her. Stark uses his celebrity and blackmails a child into fighting for him and gives him no information as to why. Stark doesn't pre-warn his friends and team about all this, he just drops them in it because the whole thing is a vessel for his own selfish guilt. Stark tries to fucking kill Bucky despite the fact he wasn't in control and was not really responsible. Stark is totally willing to hand everything over to the same government which he fought against when it came to Abomination, nuking New York and Iron Patriot. He's opposed all of this at every turn in the past, even Ross himself. He abandons those morals and his friends just to score his own brownie points and clear his conscience[/sp]
i think they did a pretty good job of showing tony's side, i was p much agreeing with him during the meeting room scene
[editline]2nd May 2016[/editline]
it's the second half that really drives cap's point home
