I've heard that wiretapping would make more of a clicking sound. I know someone who was interviewing for a job working on military tech, & looked into this quite a lot (the FBI interviewed a bunch of family & friends to ask about him, and I think there might have been some tapping going on.. creepy stuff)

Well I can't open OP's file but a light click sound while on the phone means the government is listening, this doesn't mean that you are in trouble, they do this to everyone that has a phone.

Try using your SIM in another phone if you can, see if the problem continues. If it does, it's a network problem most likely. If it doesn't, get the phone replaced. It's not going to be a tap, as some people have been saying...

Hezzy, I know it's been five years since your post . . . but a google search for "odd sounds on cell phone," prompted by an unusual sound I heard today, brought me to this forum and your old post. . . and when I just played the sound file you posted five years ago, I heard virtually the same thing I heard on my cell phone today - although mine went on for some minutes and was even creepier, if that's possible. The sound interrupted an existing call. Did you ever get any definitive feedback about what this is? I can't believe the sounds are so similar and yet so weird, but they are. It made the damn hair stand up on the back of my neck!

I had the exact same experience and recorded it. Do you have a kik so I can send it to you man? I recorded it with kik and it was f'n creepy. Same as you it was for 2 minutes.but I managed to record like 3 seconds of it before the call hung up
