I wouldn't say it's too much per say, maybe on a few lifts. I would deadlift every other cycle though and I would watch your bench/and or just db bench to save your rotator cuffs. Honestly just get to learn your body and know whats good to go and what isn't.
So I should be saving certain workouts to once a week? Like only doing my deadlift on Day 3 and ignoring it on day 7?
So I should be saving certain workouts to once a week? Like only doing my deadlift on Day 3 and ignoring it on day 7?
Yes. I say deadlift because it is THE most taxing lift on the CNS, and as much as overtraining is bullshit, deadlifting 2x a week with a good amount of effort is a little over the top and you'll wear yourself out.
well that makes things a lil difficult
this is the kinda split i sort of been doing for a lil while now
day 1 squat, day 2 chest/tri, day 3 back, day 4 deadlift, day 5 shoulders
thats really just a rough overview of my current split because i run a rly weird routine doing oly + powerlifting
Guess I'll be using my
Back/bi/shoulders
Chest/tri/forearms
Abs/legs
split then, I'll just be saving the deadlift to once a week on day 3, chest shouldn't be too much of a problem since I do inclined DB press.
Since no one's been saying anything about hitting back and shoulders on the same day I'll go and assume that there's nothing wrong at all with it either.
Alright, for my simple daily strength I've got 4 excercises I've been doing.
Bench press, shoulder press, deadlifts and squats.
Any other essentials I should squeeze in, or should that do me?

Are you trying to hit all the muscles? From these 4 exercises I can only see you hitting the shoulders, chest and most of the lower body, the lats and traps and back in general and bicep/tri/forearms trio are pretty much left alone, so unless that's what you're aiming for, I suggest adding some more.

What would you suggest?
What would you suggest?
I found shrugs pretty effective for my traps, Rows for your middle back and pull ups for your lats are also very effective.
For Triceps and Biceps, stuff like dips and curls are pretty good, forearm is usually left a bit on the sideline and develops along the way with your biceps/triceps but if you want good forearms, wrist curls are also pretty decent.
Right, there's also crunches/situps for your abs and some exercise I forgot the name of (I like to believe it has something to do with side bend) for your obliques which are somewhat part of your abs.

Seems like a lot for a daily routine.
I know I should probably split it into days, but I'm not sure how would be the best way to go about that.
Mind helping me out there? :)

If you're serious about working out, splits are best.
I used to do full body routines daily when I was new but the more I got serious, the more I found myself adding new exercises and at the end I was so god damned exhausted that I didn't even have the power to lift 10 lbs and thus my muscles were getting no work done at all.
If you can read up a few posts, I've been asking about my split myself so I guess you could learn from that.
As Bleach said, keep deadlifts to once per cycle since that shit's hard and awesome as fuque but beside that, my routine should do good enough for you or you can try to make one for yourself depending on your availabilities and stuff.

Chins 15-20 total reps, add weight or use assisted.
Rows 3x5 SUPER STRICT.
Optional: Cable rows, 3x8 bicep work, 3x8 rear delt flyes, do this at your own discretion. If you don't feel like it, don't worry
B

Deadlifts 1x5
Optional: 15-20 reps of dips, 3x8 tricep work
Do them twice a week. Do one workout monday, the other friday. Rinse repeat. Go google it or bill star's 5x5
wot

shouldn't I be?
I don't get sore or anything, but I only tend to do about 50 minutes.
you should be getting sore
do u even lift? srs
put some weight on the bar. Heavy weight low reps.
shouldn't I be?
I don't get sore or anything
If you're a starter and you don't get sore you're probably doing something wrong.
As a starter I used to get sore to the point where I couldn't move for up to 4 days, nowadays my body is used to putting up with the cruel things I make him do, though when I especially nail a work out and get an awesome pump (Usually happens on back/bicep day for unknown reasons) I'll be sore for atleast the next day and I know I did good.
50 Minutes is a pretty good time to work out, workouts shouldn't really go far past a hour or you're doing way too much I'd say, but if yo're not getting sore, as Bleach said, get some weight on that bar and feel the burn.
what about days a week?
still wondering about the best way to split, too
[editline]6th January 2013[/editline]
and 10 reps is good right

Disregard a bit what I said about the split (At least for now) Bleach's simple program is better for a straight beginner, once you're comfortable with the program and want to move on to something more serious, start the splits.
I know when you're a beginner you're eager to jump on that athlete's routine and become Mr Universe but it's literally the worst thing to do, you'll burn yourself out and won't touch a weight for the next 5 years so it's best to start low and move up one step at a time.
to the faggets who want to start with some gay 4 day split
no, do a fucking strength/powerlifting routine for the first 4 months, I wish I did when I first got my noobgains, you will probably gain just as much mass as ur faggy split but ur also gonna have ridiculous strength gains
i wish i never did that gay fagey 3x10 bullshit when i started out, also remember powerlifting doesnt turn u into a fatass faggot instantly, remember the most based bodybuilder of all time was a bodybuilder/powerlifter
What bodybuilder? @lemonator
Some bodybuilders might've dabbled in powerlifting but none that I can think of. Besides Johnny Jackson and Stan Efferding, but they weren't that good at either.

wot
As far as I know, and I just googled it, ronnie coleman never did any powerlifting meets. Yes he is incredibly strong, but he doesn't train like a powerlifter, and many of the things he did he did for the camera. He played high school and d1 college football, and is a genetic freak.
Yes he deadlifts but many other bodybuilders do to.

still mirin the old dude more tho
Help, I can't move my legs and I can't walk.
Also does anyone experience second winds? I've had one of the best workouts I've ever had just now and after about 30 minutes and totally exhausted and about to call it a day and then I just suddenly got a second wind and got to finish the other half of my work out.
Though it was in part my fault, I didn't work out much these holidays and indulged into ridiculous amount of shit food and alcohol so in an attempt to kickstart myself again I did abs/legs/shoulders just now and did shitload of exercises for each muscle groups and I'm dead.
[editline]6th January 2013[/editline]
Leg day best fucking day, that feeling when elderly people coming right out of water aerobic can move around faster than you do.
[editline]6th January 2013[/editline]
Day 1
Back/Bicep/Shoulders
Pull Ups & Variations
Hammer Curls
Shrugs
Shoulder Press
Day 2
Chest/Tricep/Forearm
Inclined DB press
Dips
Wrist curls
Push ups
Day 3
Abs/Legs
Crunches
Hip Raise on parallel bars
Oblique side bends
Squats
Deadlifts once per cycle
Lunge
Calf Raises
Planks
This is what I have so far, anything I should add or change?
I include atleast 10-20 minutes of warm-up/cardio by hitting the bag to keep my boxing reflexes and form up before each work outs too, I wanted to dedicate a day to cardio but I figured that 7 days of working out without a single rest wouldn't be good to me.
Or should I just do this split once a week instead of twice and keep more days to resting and add a few cardio days? I'm fairly strong and got some strong and very hard muscles but they're not really defined because I've still got a layer of fat above them, considering I went from 265 lbs to 195 lbs over a year, I'd say I'm getting there but I still want to get rid of that last layer of fat, I'd assume Cardio days would really help with it.
Also what is you guys stance on dicktouching, testosterone level and working out.
Also what is you guys stance on dicktouching, testosterone level and working out.
in my knowledge on that topic(i'm no expert; i just read a lot), masturbation doesn't affect your testosterone levels massively. there's a subtle change but it's not as though abstaining from jerking off will give you test levels equal to juicing.
personally, i actually feel more motivated when i jerk off/have sex, which then corresponds to me working out harder and pushing myself to ridiculous levels.
this is all just experience though, i'd rather have a qualified expert give you the lowdown on this.
Also what is you guys stance on dicktouching, testosterone level and working out.
AFAIK there has been one or two dodgy studies about increase in testosterone levels when not jacking off
unless it's effecting your workouts, general energy levels masturbation is hardly a concern.
